As a mad f**k carp angler myself (pb = 51 / 2), we all think we know better than the next angler, well people....we don't....fact!! The bullshit on these YT vids really pi**es me off.
You don't need all that poncy rig stuff. I've just got back from a 24 hour session with my mate. He has all the gear, knows the rigs and has caught a lot of big carp. I've never been carp fishing in my life and just legered a worm.
What a pussy. It took him that long to get in a carp with that size rod and reel?! I've seen guys with a fly rod do it in half the time. And dude needs to go work out if he's winded after that battle.
@Worrgamesguy - u are a fucking shit angler it dosnt matter what rod or reel u got u downie spastic fuck, if you put to much pressure on them the hook will pull, but u wouldnt know that cas ur a noddy, and cant catch carp, and u said he took ages to get it in, it wasnt that long of a fight and the fish weighed just over 38 pound, so it would put up a fight its people like you that drag them in so that the hook pulls from the mouth then wonders why u lost the fish, ur shitttt give up at fishing!!
personally i find back winding the best way to play a fish, drags are great tools, glad they've finally been mastered but if you have a big fish pushing to get into snags etc...you can apply just that little extra pressure to turn the fish, where your drag may have released line, personally I feel more incontrol of the situation.had drags lock up and before you've had time to fiddle with it, snapped or hook pull, since then its all been about the reverse, less mechanics to go wrong.

what a bunch of amatuers! Why is he back winding when a clutch does it a million times bettter. Also just bomb in a method feeder catch a fish ever 5 mins!
@bobcheese427 I'll have you know I have fished all these rigs, all korda equipment, tied and applied properly. Yesterday went to Lemmington Lakes specimen lake, Fished 9 hours best I could with mainline boilies, chilli hemp, all top rigs and casting etc with pva sticks. My mate doesnt even know how to tie a hair rig, and using a method feeder with the mould, just used g betaine groundbait with NO particles, with 3 pieces of corn on a premade hooklength and had a 16,16, 17. I copied and got a 19.
I dont mind backwinding when playin a carp but it annoys me that for so many years we cried for the perfect clutch, so shimano and in some minds fox i guess gave us just that with the newest baitrunners only for it to be ditched by most for backwinding option which reels have had from the start, also i dont do it really as i dont think the controls as good myself, guess its a personal thing.
AWsome! Well compiled video. i have seen one or two absolute monsters but am still trying to get nice video footage. largest so far dragged ashore was 86lbs. but that was shot by a strange wind surfing method. we snorkel and freedive mostly and the carp actualy will follow us often. im not sure why yet, if we kick up organisms or what, they do stay back a good ways. but ive had some follow me for unbelievavle time
With that long of a rod, and large of a line, it shouldn't be hard at all. I caught a 40lb common with a 7 ft bass rod with 12lb mono.. took 2 minutes.
try NRG spice pop-ups with a PVA bag full of small micro pellets always scores well everywhere ive tried in the winter/spring months oh n the pop ups are made by mainline mate hope i can help you
bumpy jason if u was fishing with a camera u would have seen your rig being done aswell carp now days are so preassured that they get clued up i guarante you get done evry time u go fishing evry one does
mate i agree to a point! the first thing they are doing wrong is fishing boilies in a pva mesh bag with a braid hooklink over 3 inches long! the carp will pick it all up and spit the lot! use 15lb fluorocarbon, 8 inches with a longshank, the bag will help with the mechanics of the rig. scoffing it all up, sptitting some out but your hook still in cos of the stiffness of the fluoro! i used to see carp doing me all the time till i started fucking about with rigs.
Alfie im not gonna go into too much but if your gonna use boilies in a pva bag, use about 8 inches of flouro with your hookbait in the bag too! or dont use pva and just scatter the boilies and use a short 3 inch braid. you have to think about the mechanics of a rig and the way in which carp feed on boilies whether it be one, or 5! you will have more of a chance if your hookbait is on its own, with boilies scattered around! always use short braid hooklinks!
lmao granny mouth proper. theres so many better rigs he could have used! I know korda gear is good but im amazed at how many fish done him. from that first drop, i know a rig that would have nailed them all.
yeah, don't forget the famous head tilt lol, but when they do close ups of when he's like wetting a knot, he has the most granny of a mouth ever. He makes a proper 'fuck-up' of this. I think you can study carp underwater too much, he would have probably caught more if he was behind his rods. PUKKA LOL
you should either backwind OR use the clutch. If you use both at the same time. you'll give yourself really bad linetwist on your reel. Stick to the clutch
yeah ive never had a reel that doesnt have that feature however i hate people who use it when playing fish as for years we whinged about how we wanted the perfect clutch for playing fish only to use the bloody backwind handle once the perfect clutches have been developed lol plus backwinding loses far more fish as you are not in total control or atleast not as much so as you are with a clutch. Great video and thanks for posting - carpcatcher8
yeah all backwinding does it release line backwards from the reel so therefore pays line out rather than reels it in. I wouldnt recommend using it myself but maybe im wrong i dont know thats why im here, learning learning learning lol
Danny your playing a fish not giving birth.

He caught nothing, but I caught a duck.
So its 1 - 0 to me with my basic match gear.
