If you consider that there has been an average of 160,000 troops in the Iraq theatre of operations during the last 32 months, and a total of 2,912 deaths, that gives a firearm death rate of 55 per 100,000 soldiers.
The firearm death rate in Washington D.C. is 80.6 per 100,000 for the same period. That means that you are about 25% more likely to be shot and
killed in the U.S. Capitol, which has the strictest gun control laws in the nation, than you are in Iraq.
Basic math is wrong. The premise of safety in Iraq is absurd. The actual casualty rate should be 682.5 per 100000, well above the average anywhere within the US. I've heard this kind of figure before - but only questioned it when you put the numbers right in front of me.
2912/160 000 = 0.0182 (inverse of 54.945)
or 1820 per 100 000
but that is over 32 months,
1820 * (12mo year/32mo war) = 682.5 per 100,000 US soldier violent death rate in Iraq per year.
Why thank you Norna. We have been fans of your videos since Aretha turned us on to them. Please send this video to your friends and we will have to do some thing about that request to hear Aretha sing.
ok i'll do my best. i'll put this on my music video playlist. youtube is saying i am over the limit of adding favorites? ... what the heck??? lol so, i'll just add this to the playlist...
