@TheNinjat5966 I think the writers wanted David Tennant to return therefore making two 10th Doctors in Journeys End so that it can happen. Also when asked if he'd ever return as the Doctor, David Tennant hinted by saying "2013 is the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who isn't it?" It certainly is left open for David to make a return, there's no doubt, the only question now is, what way will he make his entrance? Time will tell I guess.

When we see a flash back of Gallifrey in its glory days one of the Time Lords shown is black. This shows that, as with humans, Time Lords come in different races. However I do think it illogical to want an individual Time Lord to change rage when he regenerates. It would change too much about his character. Would you want Jackie Chan or Samuel L Jackson to play the part of The Doctor? It wouldn't work.

David Tennant has averaged 8.02 M per episode over 3 seasons.

Tom Baker rated 9.4 M over 7 Seasons.

Jon Pertwee rated 8.28 M over 5 Seasons.

Elisabeth Sladen teamed with Tom Baker for 2.3 Seasons averaged an incredible 10.11 M per episode, making the "Sarah Jane" era DW's all-time highest rated era!

Well he is only 26 and therefore the youngest actor. But by the time he takes over, he will be 28 and remember, Peter Davison was only 29 when he took over from Tom baker.

Also a Timelord is only allowed 12 regenerations but I am sure the BBC producers can way around thatif they wanted.

I'd like to see the Doctor have to deal with someone from Gallifrey who is not a homicidal maniac like the Master. They're freaking Time Lords; you would think one of two of them had an escape route planned when their world ended. If thatt Time Lord is a black person or a female to futher emphasize how differently they view Earth and humans --because humans will treat them differently because we humands are fallible -- that might work.

I think the reason why the Doctor is always a white person is for internal series consistency. He was born white. It is most likely the case that regeneration does not change a person's racial species or sub-species. The Doctor often deals with post-regenerative shock after each regneration. This shock would be greatly complicated if he changed race, or gender or species. While its "just a show" the show needs to make sense (fans demand logic) He's a Timelord, not a trill. :)

Had the Doctor had been invented by an African nation, then he would have been black, reflecting a culture predominately Negroid.

It is reality, not racism, for the symbols of a culture to reflect its people.

In Arizona, Navajo cultural symbols reflect their people, and not African or British symbols.

@glnelson1956 Actually black actor Paterson Joseph was widely considered the most probable candidate for the role of the Eleventh Doctor.

He said in an interview he came very close to getting the role and told fans that if he wasn't busy filming something in another country at the time, he would have been the 11th Doctor without a doubt. Much like the previous actors for the role who never had to audition.
