  • Well, what a beautiful song. I think when I am called home this song will be sang at my funeral.

  • Shivers!!

  • wow....thats all i have to say

  • Such an incredible cover. I cry every time.

  • I love gatesy so much and when he sings this my heart melts even more. Yonny you are so awesome

  • Comment removed

  • is this what they call circle jerk?

  • I think the phrase "spine-tinglingly gorgeous" is more than appropriate here <3

  • YON! sooo good

  • i...love...australians!!!!!!!! XD *sigh* how i wish i was australian...

  • This is the most beautiful song.

  • This is sooo beautifulllll I love the guy who sings 'Fear not death's dark shadow'..why does he have only one line to sing solo huh

  • @Brideeeva I think he sing the low tone part of it all. If you listen there is no real bass voice when he sings it :)

  • does anyone know if this can be played with guitar? i'd love to know what the chords were...

  • I watch this clip regularly, and everytime I do, I forget where I am. It absorbs me. Just amazing...

  • Utterly beautiful.

  • Amazing.

  • what happens when genius song writing (paul kelly) meets truly talented, and fabulously unpretentious male voices. this is quite simply heaven.

  • Saw the guys at Wendouree (Ballarat) a few weeks ago...they are an amazing talent.

  • I saw these guys in concert last night and met them for a chat afterwards. A great night out.

  • tripod taking something seriously?

never thought i'd see the day :P

  • it's so perfect; speechless.

  • Gorgeous!!

  • Why is this so out of sync in HQ mode?

  • More proof that this is one of the best bands... ever....

  • Yon has an amazing voice...well as do all of them

  • ahhhh at gatesys voice

    love this

  • This is the most beautiful version of this song. Gives me shivers everytime.

  • I love this song! Can anyone tell me if it's been released on cd as yet and if so, what the cd's called?

  • I know it's on Tripod's Christmas CD called "For the Love of God".

  • its on Paul Kelly & The Stormwater Boys album Foggy Highway...Track 13

  • @noideahowthisworks The original is written and performed by Paul Kelly on his cd called Foggy Highway with the backing band the Stormwater Boys

  • My fav Paul Kelly song I used to don on guittar... was in hollywood movie,,

    "Out the Door"..???

  • To Her Door, i believe it's called :).

  • that was in response to psuedowolf.. im so bad at youtubing..

  • I know that Paul Kelly wrote the song but the tripod version has so much more class and smoothness to it.

A much better version in my opinion.

  • paul kelly has a page on his website called

A-Z which allows you to download songs of the month in alphabetical order.

this month it is L & M that are available, andi have just downloaded "meet me in the middle of the air". you must be a member which is very easy, just email address and password

    :)

  • Now I'm curious to hear the original version by Paul Kelly. Anyone know where I might hear it? Google says it used to be available for free download back in '04, but that site is long gone.

  • the original version is the last track on Foggy Highway, the album by Paul Kelly & the Stormwater Boys... it should be avail at most CD shops (Australian at least...). this is so great. wait till you hear paul singing lead it just melts you.

  • love this song. shame yon couldnt hit that high note right at the start. there arent many better paul kelly songs than this.

  • Yon only breaks that note a little, i didn't think it was that noticeable. Eddie misses his go at that note more noticeably i think.

  • i think they are both marvelous; eddie perfect because he wrote the most amazing song called 'someone like that' in memory of nick enright, and yon because he has such a gorgeous voice - of the tripod boys he is the one who sounds like he has had some professional voice training at some point.

  • This song will be on Tripod's new CD!! YAY! I wonder if they roped Eddie into singing as well...

  • Truly amazing!

  • What happens when genius song writing meets brilliant vocal arrangement. Goose-bumpy, spine-tingly outstanding fabulousness.

  • i'm still young but i think i have found the song that i want played at my funeral

  • That's nice. Is the vocal arrangement for this available anywhere?

  • I tried to find this after watching it on Sideshow. It is such a wonderful song. Wish GNW would release some of the songs on a CD!

  • Paul Kelly is GOD!

  • I saw this the other night on Sideshow and hunted it down on youtube instantly. My parents and I sat completely silent throughout the whole thing, it's just so amazing!!

  • The same thing happened to me when I watched it last year. It was such an experience.

  • yeah same for me aswell, it's just one of those songs that for some reason just can change your mood completely when you listen to it. I love how music can do that, however cliche it may be.

  • @madisius its not cliche, its like gospel. what you are saying is a paradox.

  • For me, it took some time before I began to like this song. Now I love it. Beautiful, just beautiful

  • what a beautiful song and lovely rendition! i tracked down the paul kelly cd it's from just for that one song. makes me cry every time.

  • haha...i did the same thing...i don't care for the other songs...just that one! they all have amazing voices!

  • This literally sent shivers down my spine. It was just so incredibly amazing...

It's great to see Tripod using their full potential... just brilliant...

  • @JerBearThompson Well said mate!

  • this isnt what i was expecting. iwas thinking they would make jokes throughout the song but they didn't. i loved this

  • Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.

  • Touche

    Point noted :)

  • This is just incredible. And without being racist or anything of the sort, one would "expect" this kind of voice from "black" guys so in my view its just mind blowing! I just love hearing tripod doing something more serious, they have truly gorgeous voices! And Eddie is just that... Perfect!

    Love them!

  • I totally agree 100%

  • I just keep watching it... over and over... *sniff*

  • so good made me cry

  • the harmony's are just perfect, and im trying to sus out who's doing the baritone coz that's just marvelous. Beautiful.

  • I believe its eddie on baritone

  • actually i think is was scod

  • ah yes youre right

  • Actually it was eddie perfect on the baritone followed by yon on meso tenor, scod on tenor and gatsey on soprano (meso)

the only exception is at the beginning when scod is doing a high soprano harmony with gatsey taking the tenor,

  • Actually, and I hate to be a pain in the neck, tecnically it would be:

    Gatesy - Tenor

    Scod - Tenor 2

    Yon - Baritone

    Eddie - Bass

  • Such a stark contrast from Eddie's song earlier that day in Howard 2.0. Incredible, up there with the other powerful song, miss us like a junkie.

  • im watching this for like the millionth time in two days

    my new favourite things

    they did an amazing job

  • when I first watched this on tv I was waiting for for a punchline or a funny twist, I was so pleased it didnt happen, this song is amazingly great.

  • I saw this when it was on tv and it made me cry - such unexpected beauty.

  • Brilliant.great talent

  • this is just beautiful! im so glad i can listen to it again somewhere. i love it! ty!

  • I'm an ignorant American, an Australian friend sent me the link. The show, the people and the song are all unknown to me. That said, that was a beautiful and touching dedication. Thank you for sharing that.

  • I was hoping and praying someone would post this. It was just so beautiful, such a showcase for their talent. Thanks!

  • Stunning.

  • When I first saw them perform this on Sideshow I cried, it's such a perfect rendition. Thank you so much for posting it here, it makes it easier to share it with friends who don't live in oz.

  • It's my pleasure to share it. I'm not in Oz either..so the fact that I can enjoy a great variety show, get my Umbi-fix, enjoy other great performers and get little gems like this is just a wonderful plus.

  • Its so ironic that these comedians have more musical talent than most "musicians".

This was so incredible - thanks for posting.

  • some of their other more serious covers are amazing. these boys are brilliant. no matter what they do they amaze me with their talent.

  • Absolutely well said!!

  • amen to that

  • Possibly because... they're musicans too? o.o;;; For example: Tim Minchin is an amazing musician and has had the training to back it up, but people still think of him first and foremost as a comedian, which he hates.

  • This is better than the Paul Kelly version hands down.I sent an email to Tripod on myspace to let them know that the song was the most amazing thing I had heard for a long time. They emailed back a big Thank you, they enjoyed singing it.

    Glad its on Youtube.

    Well done , great song!!!!

  • im asuming that is eddie on the bass part. its crazy solid for him being a bari. this arrangement is tits.

  • yeah he's grounded them all and is singing bass...they have a great sound that's for sure.

  • oh thats fantastic! ive been looking for this since sunday too! absolutely brilliant, THANK YOU!!

  • OMG thank you soooo much for posting it. I've been trying to find it since sunday morning. I love this song. I think all four boys did it well. Thanks once again. You rock! bye oh and 5 stars :D
