Everything she said pertaining to the point-and-shoot is valid for DSLRs... light, composition, foreground interest. It's funny how caught up people get in equipment. I've seen some great photos taken with Canon Powershots lately, so good I thought they were using L lenses. All that matters is the time and effort you put into your photography. Use a tripod, wait for the right light, and don't over-edit.
I just posted a video response, as an ameture photographer over many years, and only recently, I have been slowly uploading images via various video's of pics taken with many different cameras, point and shoot as well as dslr. Experimenting is a big key factor I myself have found, under various light conditons with the camera/s on various settings (and playing with various photo programs, to acheive different effects). Great video momphotographer!

I didn't see the answer to what kind of camera was used? I also noticed there were answers to questions not seen. Could you share these in the future so other can benefit and possibly avoid asking the same question. Thanks
This does not show that you don't need expensive cameras to take good pictures....YOU DO! The whole video is an advertisement for HP non-SLR cameras. The photos that they showed you that were supposedly taken by that little HP camera were in actuality taken by Canon SLR camera. I have been a professional photographer for 19 years. And believe you will not take GREAT photos with that tiny little HP camera. :-)
You seem to lack a little intelligence to understand that I DO NOT care what you think about me. It is not that I posted a comment for you to approve or disapprove. You could have spent the time a little more wisely instead of replying to me saying what you can or cannot find in yourself. If you can't find something in yourself - you go to a shrink. I definitely don't care whether you believe me or not; i make that $120,000 a year from photography and I don't have to prove anything to anyone. :)
Its just that people like you, who say that the camera matters, and you need big expensive equipment, make people who cant afford that stuff feel like they cant make good images, which isnt true, i use a d300, i have strobes lenses filters, i have that equipment but that doesnt matter, someone using a point and shoot camera could make better photos than me, its the eye that matters, "bro".
Bro, I think we misunderstood each other. What I mean by good pictures is quality. I do agree with you that the eye matters, and you can take great photos with point and shoot camera. But what I was trying to say is that the quality on point and shoot is really far from perfect when compared to high-end equipment. I used to have 10 megapixel point and shoot and thought that quality is perfect on it until I started doing photo professionaly and use my Canon 5D. Then you see a HUGE difference.
Indeed, it is important how the person is taking the photo, the eye does matter, but what I think dimk05 was saying is that you will get better quality and more options with a more expensive camera. The resolution is higher, photos are larger, and there's much more that you can do with them. Without the eye, it doesn't matter what kind of camera you use, the photos are not going to be spectacular. But, the more expensive cameras do provide better quality. You get what you pay for kind of thing.
The downside of it (kind of a downside) is that you are always on the road. You dont have time to sit down and relax - you are always going places. Its fun in the beginning but the longer you do that more tiring it becomes. :-)
Simply the best video, beautiful place and beautiful landscapes are to be congratulated one day I can visit these places, take a look in my videos too /watch?v=42JhgBotuYs&feature=channel_page
This is great information! Applying objects in the foreground and framing really helps bring out the best in landscape photography. I have passed this along to other photogs in our video directory...
And to "capture all the elements" in a landscape scene, learn to use your shutter speed and aperture settings in "manual" mode to control the appearance of your images. Never rely on in-camera settings. ... That, and buy something called a "polarizing filter" to control reflection, enrich color, and cut through atmospheric haze.
Don't bother with all those in-camera adjustments. It uses up the battery and you waste time while out. Also, what you see in the cam monitor is NOT what you'll necessarily get when you look at them later on your computer monitor.
My HP camera doesn't work anymore. And it wasn't even old. I'm not old so that súcks because now I have to save for a new one. I'm going for a Nikon this time. The other camera made me some great shots, but afther that few months, I see that it was a waste of money.

I doubt very much that any of the photos shown here were actually taken with the HP camera. Sales Trick anyone?

Technically - freelance. Currently I "freelance" full time for Adobe - go around the world mostly taking landscapes.

well, though its a hp commercial, she gave some basic useful tips.
1. turning off flash (most of the time) to take photos. specially in low light landscape.
2. using tripod.
3. just after sunrise and before sunset are golden hour to get soft beautiful light.
4. putting main subject off center, adding some foreground and framing.
:P those all what you have to pick up..everything else are commercial lol.
hp point and shot not for serious photographers.
