  • Fuck startrek

  • Pffft. Eccleston had it easy. (Hartnell was not a well man when he took on the role, but managed around 45 episodes a year.) Having said that, I don't blame him in the least for not wanting to be typecast. Troughton went on to do other things and was very successful, as did Jon Pertwee. The others have not been as prominent in their careers afterwards, and the modern industry doesn't make it easier.

  • @fishcat42 - He didn't leave because of typecasting fears, that was a BBC statement that was falsely attributed to him. Plus 13 45-minute episodes isn't that far removed from 45 25-minute episodes a year, especially considering how much more involved Eccleston's stories were to make, technically. Also, Hartnell's Doctor wasn't as central at that point, he always had a small ensemble to help lighten the load (and would often take breaks), whereas Eccleston was in 90% of scenes and only had Rose.

  • "7 of 9, Warf, get to your rooms, you're too young to hear this." XDDDD

  • This has got to be fake

  • @CHITEWASTLE Of course it's fake. It's from Dead Ringers. Anyone can see that it's Steve Edge and not Christopher Eccleston.

  • hey that would be fantastic for eccleston to play avon in a blakes seven movie, blakes seven is far better than star trek which is too unrealisticly optimistic for my taste.

  • lol

  • Has eccelston ever been interviewed bout y he left or did he just do one after filming? Lol this is well funny though!

  • yes he did a 60 second video and he said doctor who is a large thing and he did'nt have much time outside the sets and they made him work day in and day out thats what he stated anyway and he one final reason why the reporter said so what is your main awnser for leaving and he said " i dont want to be known as doctor who i like to be in more stuff and not the doctor"

  • lol

  • i thought it was Gi joe

  • Just for the record, a person can be both a Trekkie and a doctor who fan. I was raised on both! -_-

  • HAHAHAHA THATS FUNNY

  • Doctor Who? Doctor bloody Who? hahahahaha!

  • When Chris's dad is asking for his phaser not set for stun (must be to kill), was he going to kill himself or Chris?

  • 1:03 Wait, so his family's a bunch of trekkies and instead of doing a nerdy show he's going to be on a shining foundation of British culture?

  • fucking brilliant sketch

  • ROFL that's hilarious considering that Star Trek borrowed quite a bit from Doctor Who. :-P

  • Ahem. A half-human, two-hearted telepathic alien? Phasers, Galactic Federations, Warp Drive....

    Cloaking devices?

  • What are you on about?

  • Probably I was trying to force a parallel between Vulcans and Time Lords.

  • Oh, right... Well, the cloaking devise is the chameleon circuit for the time lords... I'm too well versed in Trekkie terminology. tho..

  • OMG!!! That is so freaking funny. I love it!

  • Lol!

  • I know the guy wearing the Data make up and costume, he was my work colleague!

  • I'm A trekkie ( I just started watch Doctor Who recently) and I thought this was Hilarious... not a Northerner, from the US but still, pretty funny

  • Well is is fake. But funny

  • Course its fake. It was on Dead Ringers, which is a British satirical comedy sketch show

  • I know!

  • Of Corse Its Fake.

Why Would There Be Audience Laughter In Da Backround If It Was Real

  • you stupid being. did the canned laughing make you think at least that it might be a spoof? your the dumbest person i've ever seen.

  • "Blah blah blah, I am from the North, the North is in my blood... blah North blah... but I don't like to go on about it. But I'm from the North, you see."

    lol!

  • mwahaha... i'm northern and a trekkie :-P (gotta love Doctor Who though...)

  • "Get my Phaser, and don't set it to STUN!"

  • I loved this haha! "When I bleed, I bleed Northern blood. Not like I like to go on about it or anything."

    Classic.

  • Not really. His parents are fans of Star Trek, which is American made, and extreme fans, so the idea of their son on another series is horrid to them. The punch line, about the block buster movie, you can assume has to do with another sci-fi TV show by the parent's reactions. Which it is. Blake's 7 was a low budget but kick ass show, and they are making a movie on it. YES! (And I'm from the US here)

  • Has nothing to do with Trek being American made.

It's just about the pride of us in the North (our north, not yours) and how many like to go on about it and connect certain things to it and certain meaning.

  • I AM THE NORTH MADE FLESH!

  • hahaa i love this!! soo funny!

  • "Blake's 7, the Movie."

    oh I cried with laughter!

  • Oh my gosh! It's MY parents!!!!

  • I wonder what his reaction was to this. lol

  • classic!

  • wat a character i wish he di mre dan 1 series thou Eccleston was way better than tennant and eccleston still is he has got a realli cool voice on the show and off the show

  • What the frickety-frick are you trying to say?

  • I liked Eccleston better than Tennant at first, but Tennant grew on me. I'll miss Rose though ) :

  • I never knew northerners were supposed to be trekkies. I'm a northerner and i love doctor who! this clip is so funny!

  • This has to be one of the funniest clips ever.

  • oh man this videos so funny especially when he meets his parents i wasnt expecting them to be sat there in those costumes LOL "dr who, dr bloody who!"

  • "When I bleed, I bleed Northern blood."

    I can't breathe, that's hilarious.

  • lol

  • That's fantastic...was sad to see Eccleston go...David's not half bad though ;)
