The suspension is tighter, it has more hp and torque, featured dual exhaust, and not to mention, the looks of the 2004 GTO pretty much sucked. I hated how plain they looked. A couple hood scoops help the car to look better in it's later years but it's still a complaint I have. They need to be aggressive!
@speederald2 I just don't like how they are drive by wire the 04 still had the throttle cable and not to mention the LS1 was a unkillable 350 the LS2 is a good motor to but I just like the 350 engine and realy all thats different is that the LS1 had 365 hp vs 400hp and yes they do look better with the hood scoops and the 06 did had duel exhaust but so did the 04 an 05 just the 04 exited out the same side yes the 05 an 06 both have stiffer suspension I'm a big GTO fan for life

I'm real happy with my 03 Grand Am, and I was with my 91 Sunbird too. The key is to get them only in stick otherwise they're doggy. Since I bought my 64GP I was hoping they'd come out with something modern in RWD after dropping the Trans Am in 02. GTO seemed perfect for me w/ independent suspension and a 6speed, I'm probably picking one up next week w/ 13K on it, once I can take it for a test drive. Its really not bad for what it is. Could be worse... could be a Ford.
I have always enjoyed the looks of most Pontiac's, they seem to be on track with what looks good, the Grand AMs were dam good looking cars, I dont even mind the 3800, hell you could even get it forced. People are get well respected times out of them even if they remove a headlight!
If I were you I would "pick up" a real PMD car, the IRS is not up to drags & the power band and gearing are not up to rally or Highway racing. Its no master of either style.

I don't know how old you are... But Australia has been making muscle cars almost as long as we have. Take it back another 40+ years is how long they have been making them. They know how to build muscle cars. The GTO was built for them back in 1997 as a Commodore and then later a 2 door Monaro with updated styling. Nothing is new... This is a gap car for GM. 3yrs to be built was all that was intended even before they started.

Auzzies are just about our best friends(if not the best)and it rips me to have people bash something they build. Check out the UTE and then think El Camino. Your right, the Camaro is based off the Zeta platform used in most of the Holden applications. I can't wait to see some production or concept versions of the new El Camino
