This video brings back so many memories! You even caught my families old house on this video. And did you say in the video you knew the Fernandez's? It's been 21 years since I left RT, and I still miss it.
Hello, I spent years in ras tanura, since i was 2 untill i was 16, I stopped going out there in 2005. Its very interesting and brings back a lot of memorys watching this. It seemed to be getting quiet over the last couple of years i was there, less and less americans and brits, whats it like now? Do you go to the surfhouse much? Wouldnt happen to know if anthony still works in the bowling alley snack bar would you?...
Whoever says Saudi Arabia sucks, are clearly under the influence of western media. Saudi Arabia was the best place I've ever lived, and the whole "women can't drive thing" is just bogus! Why drive when you have drivers taking you everywhere! =S.. It's a beautiful, rich country and I hope it stays this way :)
Thanks - trying to post a reply but failed! Golf course still there, so is surf house, I'll be posting vids of the latter soon. The school should have been there when you were around but it would have been aramco only, so maybe that was why? I totally remember Cheap Charlies - it was there in 80 when we arrived, and there in 98 when we left, so I'm guessing it is still there now!
Well, I stumbled across your video, when in an idle moment I typed in Ras Tanura
Its changed I spent 4 years working for Fluor Arabia there from 1974 to 1978. We stayed in the Fluor Camp in Rahimah, No supermarkets or Ex Pat schools, we shopped at an emporium that went by the name of Cheap Charlies. What about the Surf House, is that still there? And that golf course with the oiled sand for greens? Plenty of sweet water now? Id be interested in your response. - Word count limit
