Can somone explain the difference between a pyscopath and a sociapath?

@AngryOrso a sociopath is a sub category of a psychopath. the man in this video who killed possibly dozens is a sociopath, whereas a professional psychopath, like likes of which litter history with bodies, can and have killed millions. there are also other types of psychopaths all of which cause much pain and suffering, not all of which directly kill people. watch defense from the psychopath here on youtube to learn more.

@AngryOrso pretty much the same phenomena. We invent various names to call various aspects that we see, but underlying dynamics is the same. Most dangerous are the socialized ones, i.e. workplace.

There is no difference. The difference was a created one, because British people said "sociopath" and American people "Psychopath".
For some reason, two words that described the same phenomena became "An organized and disorganized antisocial criminal", but really they are both the same thing and in a psychological context there is no reason to make this distinction or anything to be gained from it.

@AngryOrso This has been a debate amongst researchers for a while. Some say these two words are interchangeable. Others believe there is a distinction between them. Those that do believe that are separate say that psychopaths have more biological origins while sociopaths have more environmental origins. Right now the DSM IV-R doesn't even list either, it just have a catch all term called antisocial personality disorder

All psycho's feel fear for their own health, both mental and physical, otherwise they would walk up to the toughest meanest son of a b in the street and attack them knowing full well they're going to get laid out for their troubles, or try and manipulate someone who they know can see them coming and get them fired. But there's plenty of non psycho's who would also kill someone weaker if they could get away with it. Example for every 10000 non psycho's there could be 10 of them that have killed, for every 10000 psycho's there could be only 9 that have killed. Almost all would worry about getting caught though.

@toowaker37 You're an idiot. Psychopaths are that way because of an imbalance in their brain. Of course, we don't have a better way to deal with psychopaths who kill people than to lock them up at the moment.
We need to keep studying them and if we learn enough about the human brain to create a cure for this, then the moral thing would be to cure them. Psychopaths aren't this way because they chose to be. Just like nobody wants schizophrenia, turrets or seizures.
