A little diplomacy woudn't have hurt! I mean you invite a legend on stage and you mop the floor with him! I would have liked to see a little more respect for an old man! When you invite someone, you put him in the best position to make him look good and you yourself tone it down, you don't try to blow him off stage with your riffs. Albert King showed real class by smiling and joking with his coat.
Gary moore is one of the best there was. Why these arguments? It was 2 different styles of blues. If he tried to show up AK then he did. Albert King distorted single notes. Gary Moore distorted entire cords. It is what it is, times have changed and the blues have changed.
HARD ROCK RIFFS ON STORMY MONDAY...GIVE ME A BREAK...I WOULD SHOW ALBERT A LITTLE RESPECT AND THE SONG TOO T BONE ALL THE WAY DOWN THE LINE AND WOULDNT BE SURPRISED IF I PLAY THIS SONG AS GOOD OR BETTER THAN ANY OF YOU GUYS.......AND SING IT TOO..
@123456789FE 1st, Write in English it's an English site. 2nd, Do you really think Albert King would get on stage with a novice? 3rd, Stick to Julio Iglesias or go and study the blues. 4th, have some respect for the dead
gary was fantastic... damn it... forget the licks or the speed... just listen that tone... in the other hand, albert king is a legend... he could make me feel shivers with four notes. master of bendings and vibrato... i believe some guy, fuckin srv used to called him his master
I'd also like to say for those who don't like Gary's style of playing, it's just another texture, another shade of BLUE goddammit. Some people don't like Albert King (not me, I worship the guy) but it's taste. You can't knock his ability just because you don't agree with the setting. At least he's playing blues and not some godawful techno-crap.
Look theres just no way Gary was trying to show off or upstage Albert. Albert always loved playing with the next generation who took his licks farther & faster than he could, b/c he knew he taught them everything they knew. It was a compliment to him. Right at the beginning of Garys 1st solo he bends the 4 on the 3rd string, hits the root on the first, then hits the 3 on the 3rd string...thats as "Albert" as a lick can get and clearly Gary is paying homage to one of his idols.
@3kingsofblues Well said, mate. I think it's bloody obvious Gary was a huge fan of Albert King. Not only did he cop a load of his licks, he wrote and recorded a song about the guy called "King of the Blues"! And no, he wasn't trying to "upstage" anyone. Gary was an in-the-moment play-how-you-feel type of guitarist. Restraint was hardly something that came naturally to him, the music just poured out.
Lol my friends guitar teacher played with Albert and did that and they unpluged him during his solo. And one dude asked about his pay and they left him in the middle of nebraska.
I bet The people hating on Gary Moore can't even string 2 chords together yet they act like they know it all..... seriously people this is blues mastery
gary died from a rare guitar related disease that moved from his fingers to his heart. his fingers were moving so fast that his heart had trouble keeping up with their speed. he then died
gary died from a rare guitar related disease that moved from his fingers to his heart. his fingers were moving so fast that his heart had trouble keeping up with their speed. he then died
The "team" thing: it's touching, the way the veteran black American bluesmen go along with Gary. Gary does the "show" brilliantly, but those old guys are so content to play their plain understated blues, and it works. Gary clearly adores them, but he never wanted to be understated, and they never wanted to "shred"
Both of these guys are phenomenal. The music they made will long outlast their existence on Earth to all of us who know and appreciate amazing music when we hear it.
Last year I had the chance of seeing Gary Moore in Edinburgh, I wasn't really sure about going because i wasn't really into the blues. I bought a ticket and went with a friend because we are both guitarists and wanted to see how good he was! I'm so glad I had the privilege of seeing him, he totally blew both of us away and I'm now playing some blues myself. RIP Gary Moore guitar legend.

Haters going to hate. Gary played better, on his worse day, than anyone on this comment board could ever dream of playing. That is root of their frustration. Instead of working on their chops they're at their keyboard looking up gear for that 'tone'. Fucking tone is in your fingers, pansies.

Ridiculous behaviour by Gary Moore to assault Mr. King like that. Apart from Gary Moore Mr. King did write some legendary blues songs which will stay in the blues vocabulary forever. I never liked Moores super aggressive kind of heavy metal blues bullshitting and showing off.
I will probably get killed for this, but it appears that Gary is pulling out all the stops with an amp that has much more gain and starts doing metal type licks which is cool but not on the same stage as a legend like Albert King especially since Albert is in his later years. It comes off like Gary is insecure about his playing and wants to upstage Albert instead of being respectful. Gary gets such great tone from that LP even at lower gain and is a great jazz player too.

@jimi2142 ITS THE SAME BLOKE MATE PUTIN GARY DOWN FOR TE LAST FEW YEARS ON HEAR UNDER DIFFERENT NAMES THATS WHY TRACTORS ALIAS PINFOLDER IS THE BIGGEST TWAT ON YOU TUBE LOL!!!!!
Its amazing how Gary Moore is so technical. .. but doesnt evoke that wonderful "blues" feeling that Kings does with his simple emotional playing. Albert king is the real deal!!! Gary Moore kinda reminds me of that dude at the music store who is trying to out play the dude playing next to him. hahahahahaha
King and the King. Albert is so into it. Just watch his face. Amazing take on white/black blues. Aka Clapton/BB.(Quote): Players only love you when they're playing...
Most Blues music sounds similar a bit "not in an offensive way" dont know about you but I cant get enough of the BLUES,,, amazing u can hear similar tunes and never get tired, BLUEs meee OF..
what is albert doing with his jacket around the 1:40 mark or so? He looks rather unhappy for a moment. hahaah. Amazing video though! I recently started digging through some Gary Moore stuff (and Albert King too) they were both amazing and will be sorely missed!
I agree , about Albert Kings guitar, that puppy is way out of tune , but that voice is so sweet for that song ! Gary Moore is doing what he does best , play guitar !
I had a dream last night that I got on stage with Albert King and played a hundred million noisy-ass notes at the same time while grinning like drunk three year old. I was releived when I woke up, and realized I'd only come to work in my underwear.
Albert King and Gary Moore, what a performance this was.God bless you both, keep playing them blues to the Angels above, because we will never stop playing them here for you.R I P Sadly missed.

I think Gary Moore was one of the greatest bluesmen from across the water. Rory Gallagher and Gary both grew up in Ireland. Two of my favorites.

@jimi2142 Damned if I know....Albert didn't appear to have any issue w/Gary's playing. I say 2 greats of the electric blues....bless'em both and may they R.I.P. .

Aka Clapton/BB.(Quote): Players only love you when they're playing...

what is albert doing with his jacket around the 1:40 mark or so? He looks rather unhappy for a moment. hahaah. Amazing video though! I recently started digging through some Gary Moore stuff (and Albert King too) they were both amazing and will be sorely missed!
Cam1092 9 months ago
@Cam1092
King is playing a game of hiding Gary's guitar play behind his jacket, that's all :)

It was pretty good, except for the Gary Moore part.

I know that Albert is horribly out of tune. In fairness, he just walked on a started the song!.
Like most of the old bluesmen, Albert is a much better singer than guitar player.
But only white boys know a good guitar sound when they hear it.

Am I the only one who thinks Albert's guitar is *extremely* out of tune?

THEBIGKOSTRINSKY 10 months ago
I had a dream last night that I got on stage with Albert King and played a hundred million noisy-ass notes at the same time while grinning like drunk three year old. I was releived when I woke up, and realized I'd only come to work in my underwear.

What a contrast. Albert doesn't play many notes, but every one grabs you by the balls. Gary runs you over. Fabulous stuff.
