I liked fast cars but from all the cars that I have ever owned I am most satisfied with the one I have now,140,000 km on the clock in 3 years, travelling day, night, in floated roads, in tracks in bad weather and not even a single bolt have moved, not even payed a single penny for any repair. Its not really fast but its not slow, it can take you there either with 90kmh or with a little bit pressure with 170kmh, One thing is sure it WILL always take you there, thats Honda Civic Hybrid 2007
If people keep looking at the monitor to optomize fuel efficiency, wouldnt you be more likely to be involved in a car accident? Who cares about fuel efficiency when you are endangering lives incl your own.
I have a 2007 civic hybrid. I loooove it. I drive 47 miles to work and back every day, i avg. 38 -44 mpg. I've been staying around 43 mpg, any idea to get even better?
good vids here. i wish'd someone could offer a stand alone small ice/electric hybrid powertrain we could just swap in our old rear wheel drive cars/pickups. just buy a bank of batteries hook it all up and go. i think they purposely make the prius (and other efficient cars) ugly to steer ppl toward gas-guzzlers
Love your videos. Just bought a used gently 08 Civic Hybrid. My ONLY gripe is the gas pedal is too vertical, and hurts the top part of the foot, and shin after prolonged driving. Any suggestions ? Love her though !
I have never cared much for the Honda Civic but I am interested in the new Honda Insight. Do you think the Civic hybrid will continue to be produced once the Insight catches on?
Yes, the civic hybrid will remain the most sophisticated Honda hybrid. Unfortunately the 2010 Insight is still a worse performer than the current Civic hybrid.
I think your video is great. But you can't compare the Insight to the Civic Hybrid. I have a 2010 Insight and I am quite satisfied with the fuel consumption. On the interstates where I live in North East Tennessee, I average 4.5 L/100 km. Sometimes it is better. As for size they are really 2 completely different vehicles with similar drive trains.
Good information here. I own an 08 Honda Civic Hybrid and get similar results with outstanding fuel economy. Maybe a prius can outperform a civic in the hands of a good driver, but I'd rather drive something that looks like a normal car, not a bubble.
@laurelhebert43464 the new ones are actually better looking than before. the previous ones looked dorky but the 2010 prius looks actually pretty agressive
Thanks for the demo! I didn't realize glide mode showed 0mpg on the gauge. I thought I was in glide mode when it showed 80-85mpg sustained. I'll have to relearn a few things!
On mine, i drive a lil ways, come to a dead stop, with foot on brake and it auto stops (stops running). When i let of the brake it starts back and pulls out with bat asst and a lil gas.
While driving, i barley press the gas on a falt stretch of road anf it stays at the same speed and the mpg realtime gauge stays around 80mpg
Going down hill, i let off the gas and break, it stays at the same speed and charges the battery. The cars deff. worth 14,000
The HCH uses a drive-by-wire system and is therefore very sensitive to subtle variations in throttle input. Feathering the right foot is key to getting the car to switch between EV, Glide and Regeneration modes.

it's in L/100km. Notice the change to metric?

So basically, drive very slowly. Thanks.

wow thats really good for stop.start in my honda civic petrol i get 9l/100 in very bad stop start traffic, 7th generation model civic.
clayton4115 3 years ago 3
whats ur fuel economny in stop / go traffic?
clayton4115 3 years ago
Without using any techniques: It can vary from 5 to 6 L/100km (35-45 MPG US) or even worse.
Forcing an auto-stop is the technique that helps avoid this type of bad fuel economy.
hypermiling 3 years ago
That's really fuel efficient :].
So you have to always step on the brake pedal when the car is stationary so the gas engine doesn't start when you don't want it to right?
ale03000 3 years ago
Compare that with driving a Bugatti Veyron at top speed - 100L/100km lol

how much is your best consume?
joprez 3 years ago
In moderate temperatures? Averages of 3.2 L/100Km.

very cool :)
does this also apply to the prius? and which is more economic?
Neurotica 4 years ago
Yes, the principle is essentially the same and it works similarly on the Prius... especially when the gas engine is warmed up.
hypermiling 4 years ago
Cool. I still haven't managed to do this. Will give it another try.

It is all in the foot action.
