Love PM Chretien. I met him briefly in Vancouver and he was a great guy and very personable. He´s a guy who never forgot his roots and served his fellow Canadians under an unheard of majority govt 3 times. He is proud....I know, and he did good for a tough kid and came back to share his stories with Canadians.

I know both the platforms of the NDP and the Liberals. I actually agree with the NDP, but I don't see them winning a seat where I love, so I may vote Liberal. As such, I'm stuck with either Iggy or Harper. I've looked at the platforms of both of them, and while I'm not a huge fan of Iggy, I support him a lot more than Harper. Harper just scares me.

A Harper majority is frightening although a majority Ignatieff is worse. You don't know anything about Ignatieff because I don't know anything about Ignatieff, and politics are my life. How can you support a leader that doesn't reveal their plan? Thats scarier. Trust me, go with the evil we know until the Liberals appoint new leadership (hopefully jean charest or john manley)

Not to mention the cuts to the military, cuts to the health care system, no action on the environment, cuts to infrastructure - bridges are collapsing and sewage is left untreated.

Great PM. Great politician. Always underestimated. He may have taken the Liberals too much to the center, but he was a wise leader and man. Steve pales compared to "le p'tit gars de Shawinigan". Dion was smart, but didn't have the people skills of the Very right honorable Chretien. Ignatieff has neither the intelligence nor the people skills. He left his intelligence back at Harvard. Martin was a great man, finance minister and PM. He simply was left all the crap that occurs after 10 years.

He COULD NOT send troops into Iraq because we didn't have any to send.
He DID NOT ballance the budget because all he did was cut federal transfer payments for health care and infrastructure to the point where bridges are collapsing and the health care system is failing, PLUS the GST generated alot of revenue when the economy picked up.

the liberals balanced the budget and what not basically by taking the Reform party's (yes, same party harper was in) 1993 platform (which they'd derided as far too right wing) and then using it themselves, complete with spending cuts and social services cuts. they were farther to the right than mulroney's PCs. And today's situation would be the same no matter who was in power given the interdependant nature of the economy
