  • I threw a party not too long ago and a mix of music playing in the background. Then this song came on and my guests suddenly stopped - kinda looked at each other and suddenly all broke into dancing. The song played another three times that night! I think Billy would be proud!

  • @geoffreyprince This just made me smile a HUGE toothy smile! That is AWESOME! Did they know who the group was right away? You MUST go on Marilyn and Billy's Facebook page and tell them. They LOVE to hear from their fans.

  • Better then Joe Cocker's version. Almost better then Traffic's version.

  • O.k..I got the groove now....oh shit

  • First time i heard this version from fifth. man what a voice billy has. im in the groove

  • Classic, 5th Dimenson...very nice song. thanks for sharing

  • @jcbsebrigh You're welcome. And Thanks for viewing and commenting!

  • and Marilyn had the "shag" hairstyle that was popular in the early seventies.

  • @casey3234 You mean the wig she'd sometimes wear? Yeah.

  • There once was a very good video to go with the song with Bobby somebody. I wish they would post it again.

  • @jacky4114 It was form Bobby Sherman's show...I know that clip...Yes...the ONLY thing I hate is that Bobby sang the lead vocals with Billy...would rather he had NOT joined them....but Marilyn and Florence was workin it out up on those risers.

  • @MsTexas73 You said it Ms Texas! I remember that video with Marilyn and Florence in their bare midriffed outfits dancing up a storm on those risers. They were pretty hot stuff and still are!

  • @MsTexas73 Yes sorry to say Bobby Sherman could have been left out of this....!

  • @casey3234 Indeed...all Bobby Sherman should've done was INTRODUCE them.

  • @MsTexas73 Poor old Bobby, he gave it a go, 5/10 for effort!

  • @MsTexas73 I'd rate him lower. He sounded VERY awkward...(his "soul" wasn't on the same count as the 5th's was)...yeah, just awkward.

  • @MsTexas73 Florence and Marilyn's dance steps were cute...HOWEVER when the guys were doing them...well...lets just say they should've kept the wide shot of the whole group at that point. smh.

  • @MsTexas73 Can any one upload that clip?

  • @jacky4114 said..... "There once was a very good video to go with the song with Bobby somebody. I wish they would post it again."

YES ME TOO, I LOVED THAT CLIP!

ALSO WISH SOMEONE WOULD POST IT AGAIN

    PLEASE PLEASE - ANYONE? : )

  • It was released as a single -- on the B-side of "One Less Bell to Answer".

  • @levyacinthe Thanks for the info. So, it was a B-side release...which means that unless the DJ was hip...they didn't flip the record over to give it airplay... It should have been and A-side single as should "This is Your Life".

  • Gladys Knight does a great version too...other versions:Grand Funk,3 dog night...Joe Cocker and the Traffic original...

  • google mp3iffy to download this song from youtube.

  • Same year. Very similar arrangments. It was a big hit for Joe, at least in Atlanta, GA.

  • Wow, did not know one of my favorite soul groups did a cover of the Dave Mason/Traffic song. I see they did it in the style of Joe Cocker, or did Joe do it in the style of the 5th Dimension?

  • @EmpressOfWyoming58 Hi. The 5th Dimension covered this in 1970...on the fabulous Portrait album. What year did Joe Cocker cover it?

  • This is cracker....whoo hoo...yeah baby yeah

  • thank u MsTexas73. i luv this song by this group. it is their best! thank u, thank u, thank u!!!!!!

  • Hi...you are VERY welcome. I'll be posting MORE 5th SOON. Three GOOD ones too.

  • This is the cut!! I've been hoping and waiting for somebody to post this!! Thank you!! Feeling Alright???

  • Uh Huh!!! :^D

    You're Welcome!!!

  • Billy isn't "underrated"--he is completely ignored in the annals of Soul. Not to knock David Ruffin or any of my other favorite male soul singers--but Billy's voice never lost any volume no matter how high the notes were. Billy Davis Jr was MASTERFUL. Still is,

  • This should have been released. Billy Davis had a huge voice--if you ever saw him live, you'd know how powerful it is. He makes this song sound as if it had been written for him.

  • ICAM

  • Hey Y'all, if you go to my Channel and look in my favorites, you'll see the link to a VERY recent *Oct 09* interview with Billy and Marilyn. Go to that channel and they have the link to the COMPLETE interview. I am anxious to discuss it with anyone who has seen it. So please PM me when you've watched.

    watch?v=wKrGp4iNclE

  • yeah that was a GREAT interview ..

  • MsTexas...this is a jam!! Thanks.

  • Yes, Billy is VERY underrated. This man is TALENTED. And I know some have said that maybe this sogn was not released as a single because it had already been released by another group...but I don't buy that. If that's the case then "Respect" should not have been released by Aretha. This song SHOLD have been released. I really think that it would have been a hit for them.

  • I keep forgetting that Billy Davis Jr. (a extremely unrated soul singer) has that voice that makes one wants to get up and dance. I see why when he and Marilyn left that group in 1975, it was never the same. It's hard to replace voices like theirs.
