Really good but the reason th G.I.s didn't use advanced radios is becuase the could get intercepted by the Germans the foxhole radios couldn't be intercepted due to low frequency but still great video.
two hours on the comp. and you are the only person who made any sence, and how to build the radio, thank you brother. Uncle dan 57yrs. now can go to build this with nef. ethan. 9 yrs. old. all thanks to you. your mom and dad should be proud of you. thanks, dan, in palm spsings. calif.
this is a great job you did .i made one of these when i was ten years old have been hook on radio every sence i am 65 years old now .radio is a fun and a great hobby. i hope you enjoy it as much as i do thanks for the video
dude awesome vid but im kinove an ameature at this could u exain exaclty what a foxhole radio is capable of in terms of is it a transmitter or reciever
Well done illustration! The last time I built one of those crystal radios was back in the late 1960's when I was still in high school. One of the local cub scout leaders was told I was a licensed ham radio operator and I was asked to show those cub scouts how to build one. I actually got it to work even though it was the first one I built!
The name "fox hole radio" might date from the second world war but the radio was made long before ww2 in the twenties in Britain we made them and they was called "Crystal Sets" look it up. they was made long before ww2.
@TheKC1ML The FCC doesn't have authority over any one transmitting if they are not engaged in interstate commerce. Their charter is very clear on this. A license is for a privilege. People have the right to use the airwaves. Just don't go stepping on other people's toes and be polite about it (ie: have a clean broadcast that doesn't bleed).
@crackahcrackah I don't quite remember the comment I made from a year ago, but I believe I was merely stating that with your background in electronics that you'd be an asset to the amateur radio community. Unfortunately with some of the newer hams coming on, they're not interested in kit building or just plain building your own radio. Some of the new radio's coming online are just plain throwaways and buy a new one. It's quite an achievement when you modify or build your own gear.
could i use an inductor coil from a electric hair cutter the reason i am asking is because it is alot longer and layered like 20 times but it is basily the same as your coil magnetwire its coiled around a square plastic spool
I am a science teacher looking for projects like yours. I am very impressed with your design and thoughtful modifications that make your radio more sensitive. Great job and continued success with future projects. Keep on keepin on............
to get more and clearer sounding channels is get a ferrite rod or a long magnet and put it in the middle of your coil that should amplify the signals you get

GREAT VID! i have the same guitar amp btw, lol. ive been trying to make this based off makemagazine's video, but i keep screwin up. the razorblade i used was just put over a candle for a while, i guess ill just find someone with a blowtorch or a gas stove like you did. once i can actually get mine working, ill make a video about it and put your name as special thanks.

@nietro98 What do you mean advanced radio's could get intercepted? Unless they have two way communication there's nothing to intercept.

could copper wire work instead of the "magnet wire"? PLease reply
multiskillage 1 year ago
@multiskillage
Yep, would work. It's almost the same!
"Magnet wire" is not magnetical wire, but wire to build up electromagnetic coils.

How the fuck do u make the wire retain its tension when ur winding it? It took me like 4 days to do it lol
