What a beautiful video. I love this song. What a great performer, what a voice and what a kind and intellectuel man he is! Thank you for sharing this.
@Policier911 It's true. A lot of people don't realize that Canadian means those who lived along the fleuve St-Laurent (as well as their townships). And of course those people were not orginally nor generally anglophones or even acadiens but the québécois.
I think he is very sentimental. He almost cried, but then he got a cup of coffee. Anyoe knows if he still lives in such a surrounding in L.A? Wouldn't surprise me if he did...
cette chanson a été écrite en 1842 quand Antoine Guérin Lajoie a vu passé un grand bateau noir sur le fleuve transportant les patriotes de 1837-1838 vers la déportation qui les attendaient
I know no one will believe this but my mom grew up with Leonard and Hazel. Hazel is still very much a part of my life and I love her dearly. Everyime I talk to her and see her on the street I become more and more aware of how awesome it is, and how lucky I am, that I know these people.
ahh you are so lucky! My student budget wouldn't stretch that far!! I got a glastonbury ticket, so maybe that will compare like 50% to seeing Cohen...my real despair comes from the fact that, (as a man on the coach back from Dylan at the O2 pointed out:) - I'm 21 and seeing Cohen will be the best thing you ever see! What do I have to look forward too?!? Haha I have amazing memories though
A P.O.W. of Dieppe named Lucien Dumais whistled the tune of this song in an attempt to find his fellow soldiers after he escaped from a German train. This song means so much for Canada and Quebec.
I wonder if Leonard Cohen really live there ? And I also wonder if it was him singning my song ? ha Ha Ha ! Well he is still wandering around the world just like me and we might even meet as he is coming right here in Perth, Western Australia.

Cohen: "Not many people"
He called BS, subtly.

"Some people might look out and say 'Oh why do you want to live over all these shacks and old balconies?'"
I love Leonards quiet response: "Not very many people"
1000kissesdeep, its one added kiss from me for that upload.
I wish I could climb over the balcony bringing Leonard coffee like Hazel.
