Alright now people say well if you want to shoot paint faster and have less recoil an etc. get a speedball gun like a dye, mini, etc. well that be nice if you are playing speedball. In the scenario world (you could include woodsball if you want) A tippmann gives the milsim look and what not. I dont go big with mine, ill admit i prob put in an extra 100 to 200 dollars into my A-5 but i sold lots of parts and got the money back. Im running out of txt....

All of my paint buddies did their time and I am sure it affects our scenarios, and choice of guns, eh, markers. I left the military, eventually, but kept on painting the bushes. Paintball sure helps in maintaining combat readiness!

This is why you don't see real guns being controlled by computers. Mechanics>electronics. I like that the phenom can fire even without a battery. Can your ego do that? If the electronics fail on the field, it becomes an expensive paper weight.

Granted, these expensive guns did innovate a lot of awesome stuff. Great internals are great internals. But you must balance that with considerations of reliability and practicality. Ergonomics on these exp. guns suck ass, unlike real firearms.

Another thing is reliability. outside of a heavily biased speed ball tournament, tactics come into play, as does the environment you play in. I personally play speed ball and wooded maps, but in all cases I find myself having a huge advantage when I am willing to get down and crawl through the mud. It's a vital skill on a real battlefield and a paintball one. I don't want to be worrying about jamming up my expensive ass electronic gun. Electronics also can fail.

you can spray paint all you want, I can match you with a full auto phenom. Difference is that I don't have to walk the trigger. I just aim and hold it down. Combine that with a rap4 box mag, guess what? Same ammo capacity as a hopper, plus ergonomics of a real firearm and clear line of sight. Also, easy reload. If I need to, I can outrange you with mag-fed first strike rounds. When you have that sort of flexibility in a 400 dollar gun, I don't see why you need an ego, angel, etc.

I look at these speed ball tournies, and shake my head. They stand there shooting down a "lane" a million rounds a second. Yeah, maybe their thousand dollar guns are great at letting loose a non-stop stream of consistent paint until the hopper is empty. But how is this practical? In an actual game, you don't want to waste all your paint like that. With the advent of mag-fed guns, air coils and air in stock, along with first strike rounds, real life tactics are going to become important

I started off with an A-5, moved on to a light and tight set up with a PMR, and am moving back to tippman, this time with a decked out Phenom with tacamo mag feed kit and either coil or air through stock.

I don't understand why people pay thousand plus dollars for these electric guns. A full automatic gun doesn't need to be 60+ bps. And, in my experience, Phenom doesn't break paint very often. What about accuracy? Depends on barrel and paint.

Now if you where to take those guns and throw in a swamp (which would never happen) then yes you would wanna own a tippman.. I always win because tippmans cant shoot fast :)

Instead of spending 400$ for the x7 marker and like 200$ for the e-grip, you should of just bought the "X-7 Phenom"... It comes with spool valve technology and because of the electro-pnumatic system you can switch from mechanical to electric with the flip of a switch... Also, it comes with 5 programable modes for the e-grip, safe 3 round burst, safe full auto, safe auto response, safe turbo (which shoots 15-20 bps), and semi auto. And cyclone feed system. ALL THAT FOR 400$...

Dont know if your came with a stock on it but around 70$ for one. And i have no idea about the optical sight. Maybe between 130-230$. Paintball is mad addictive and expensive to upgrade. But so worth it when you get out onto the field...
