I'm also planning to get one of those, or even two, as when you place them side by side (one upside down like yours), you have 2x12 keys, and that's already almost in the range of playing professionally.
Or I might get four of them, or even six, only a pity that they aren't wider (my dream would be 32x8 keys in total), but still their layout is far better than all the 4x4 competition.
My question is about the sensitivity of the keys: How good is it, and can you turn it down VERY low?
@moleculeColony Hello everyone! Who can help me? .. I just bought the Korg nanoPAD, a USB controller, but are not able to assign a sound effect, etc. for each button .. how the hell do I do? I downloaded the software which in practice should allow you to use this controller (Korg Kontrol Editor), I tried to answer (but I found only tutorial in English that explain just how to give effect to the sounds, but not assigned to each key) I do not understand nothing... thanks again! Adrian
do you know if the xy pad works alright with garageband? this may be a stupid question but i didnt even know there was a korg nanopad til about 15 minutes ago.
How does this compare to the Kaossilator? It seems that with the touchpad on the nanoPad could easily emulate the functionality of the Kaossilator. Are you able to program loops?
Sorry. I have no Kaossilator and I couldn't understand precisely what you mean. The touchpad is mainly used to detune the synth sound. This softsynth ES2 receives the MIDI signals ( as a control change ) from this nanoPAD. The loop in this movie is composed by me with oneshot samples in "VENGEANCE ESSENTIAL HOUSE VOL.2" and ES2 bass.
how can I change the sensitivity of the pads depending on how hard I hit them? As it is, each hit has the same velocity.... I'm using this with Ableton Live - any advice would be much appreciated! :)
Open "KORG KONTROL Editor" and click "Global" button at the upper-right of the window. Next, set "Velocity Curve" and click "Write" button. Now, probably you can do that. ...But in this movie, I set the synth to get no velocity data.
thanks - the Korg Editor, do I have to have that open and running when I'm in Ableton, or is this a one-time change of settings? Also, would the Korg PadKontrol be better for pad sensitivity?
Once you set it, it will remain even after you restart your PC. I don't know which is better because I've never touched PadKontrol. But I guess the main difference may be the weight of the body.
ooops, sorry - my mistake! So, is 'write' basically giving the information that the pad's velocity is now velocity-sensitive to however hard I hit it? I restarted Ableton and even though I'd saved it as Global, the settings weren't saved.....
wow that is so impressive!!! AWESOME!!!!

@danielortizdecaracas Not really, you get a better selection but the keyboard feel of it kind of detracts from the ability to play it live like this.

I am satisfied with the sensitivity. I can turn it down very low. I can control velocity easily than I use a normal MIDI keyboard.

I am torn between the nanoPad and PadKontrol (the bigger brother @ twice the price), any advice please?
alexmc69 2 years ago
I think as below. They are mainly different in weight, I think.
So, when you use one on your hand as if you wear it, you should adopt nanoPAD.
When you use one on your desk as if you play percussion, you should adopt PadKontrol.

The Kaossilator is a "complete" system which produces and outputs sound.
The Nanopad is simply a Midi-Controller that you use to manipulate music software that runs on a Computer. It doesn't produce sound on its own.
