  • Is there a slower version of this? Or some instructional DVDs to look at?

  • it´s like music

  • Cheers, I understand that, i just didn't realise she was trainging with this method all the time, I thought it was a drill, maybe something you went through a few times a week. As for Floyd, he can drop his hands for as long as he wants, he's Floyd!!! Can you give me a name of one of your pros to check out, I'm really interested in seeing this applied for real. Cheers

  • Hi, can someone help me with a quey. I've been an ametuer for about 4 years.

I like this style of padwork, but this very different to when Floyd and Roger do it. When Floyd uses this technique, his guard is always in place, pause this video between shots and you'll see this fighter is open as hell. My question is, is this used for warming up more than technnique. At one point, the fighter drops both hands completely to avoid the jab, my coach would kill me for that.

  • @ArbourParq she trains to fight in this manner and she has developed the ability through this training to slip and roll shots better than some of the guys I train.. You fight how you train, if you dont train like this on a regular basis then yes you would be open as hell to shots, but this is how I train all my clients pro and amateur and they are very successful in there contests.. And by the way Floyd drops both hands numerous times to slip punches while doing padwork, its how he trains.thanks

  • @ArbourParq in my view this training is just for concentration and reflexes.i dont see any other good thing in it.

  • that all sounded like a beat! lol

  • You call that punching

  • Hi Coach Rick, How are you. My name is Marty Hannan and I am from Ireland. I sent you a message before but I am not sure if you recieved it. Firstly I love your work. I think its amazing to watch. I have recently started coaching boxing here in ireland. I was wondering do you teach coaches your mittwork style or is it just all boxers. I purchase 1 of your dvds and found it very helpful but would love to be able to learn more so i could teach it in my sessions. Thanks .

    Yours Sincerely,

    Marty H

  • Hi coach rick. Love your work. I was wondering do you train coaches your mayweather style mittwork or is it just boxers. I teach boxing lessons myself here in Ireland. I have only recently started out. I purchased one of your dvds. thought it was very helpful. Also do you sell mitts. I am looking to purchase a smaller pair to teach the technical padwork. I am finding it hard to purchase a set. Thanks very much coach Rick.

    Yours sincerely, Marty Hannan.

  • in soccor we have people who can play the game, but we also have people who are good at doing tricks, keep ups and spins and all that stuff, i consider this to be the more trick side of boxing rather than the fundamentals, it is really good and entertaining but in reality as hatton sai, who is going to let you stand there and hit them this way??? dont say flloyd can hit u this way becaus ein that fight he didnt stand there in the pocket with hatton he run and run until the found the opening.

  • @mickkelly86 A very uneducated comment to say the least,, developing Skill in Motion through Technical Mittwork training is exactly why Floyd's face still looks the way it does,,, Boxing is not about getting in there and getting Beat up, its about developing the Skill and Technique to Hit without being Hit,, This system of training is the future of boxing padwork instruction, Perpetual Motion Drills speed up Reflex nd Reaction time at a 68% faster pace than Traditional "Static Padwork, a Trick??

  • @NextTime4U yes i believe you are a lil bit right thee but still like mick sed who is guna let you stand there if you watch mayweather when he was younger he doesnt do pads like that and mayweather always says his life style is flashy and thats how he is boxing on the pads i feel its for show look at manny on the pads you dont see any of that on there and look how good he is

  • @pinchyandbradas Yes but Manny is a different type of fighter, he was a puncher from the beginning of his career and became a better technical boxer in the last 5 yrs.. Floyd has always been a defensive style boxer who stayed in the pocket to roll and counter shots, and yes when he started training with his uncle is when he really took his defensive game to the next level by doing the type of technical "Perpetual Motion" mittwork you guys call Flashy pads. The system works for all my fighters...

  • @NextTime4U Do you mean that this style of mitt work works for all your fighters as a work out or that it helps them when they compete? If when competing....at what level? Amateur, Pro? Local?

    Thanks

  • @edemvedson It works for both and I use it with every level athlete from amateur to pro and all of my clients are doing very well in both the amateur ranks as with a number of pro prospects, so it works and many people from around the country and world are coming to me for it or bringing me to them for this training.. Thanks,,,

  • @NextTime4U Would be good for you to make a video of these boxers speaking on this style of mitt work. I believe this type of style is not for EVERY boxer out there. I'm sure this method works for some but i'd like to think this wouldn't be the ONLY style of mitt work some trainers use when preparing for a bout. This has it's advantages and disadvantages.

  • @edemvedson Its for every type of boxer and mma fighter (I train a ton of them) who truly wants to be successful in the ring and minimize the risks of injury due to defensive weaknesses, lack of rhythm timing and reflex action, as well as smoothness of motion in relative time during combat. The numerous accomplished amateurs and top pro's in the game that come to me already know how good this system works, the old school system of "Static" traditional mittwork will always have its place..

  • @edemvedson The New Generation of Fighters are moving into the 21st Century and the training should always be a step ahead, some times it takes a minute for people to realize how good something works because they dont want to change the norm, or just dont want to rock the boat so to speak, but I've seen to many fighters injured and killed in the ring to not realize that what I am doing for these guys and gals will help make them successful and give them the abilty to talk about it later in life.

  • @NextTime4U I understand this........ you should watch some of my videos. I work with a few boxers as well. ramosboxing . c o m is my site.

  • @edemvedson Cool I will def check them out my brother.. Take care!

  • @NextTime4U So what your saying is that in the future all fighter no matter thick build, thin build, long build, short build should do pads like this even if it doesnt cater for their natural advantages as a fighter? im just curious, is this the type of pads that you would give to a kid who is having his first pad session?

  • @mickkelly86 Absolutely,, this system caters to anyone's Natural advantages right from the start.. The entire Concept & Theory of western boxing is simply to hit without being hit,, it doesn't matter if your a born puncher, natural boxer or neither of the two. The old idea of learning by taking a beating in sparring and pounding a heavy bag and pads like a maniac are over for progressive fighters amateur & pro who want to be successful for the long term in this business..

  • @NextTime4U Coach Rick is right... what you guys are saying about this type of training is nonesence...it's like telling a boxer not to run for miles since in the ring he's going to fight, not run a marathon, it's training to develop cardio... same thing with this kind of mit work, you're not expected to believe it's a "fighting technique", but a "training method" for reflex and response timing and all other stuff

  • @mickkelly86 its not about standing in the pocket for the whole fight... the drill is to work the reflexes and timing at a quick speed to make certain movements second nature.. this way when you do engage you hit an open combination or counter and get out fast... its not like this is the only element of the fighters training

  • great timing, the rhythm es perfecto este chica peligroso

  • FLUID

  • coach rick keep up the good work my brethren.

  • That's some sick mitt work... Gotta getta instructional video... ASAP

  • Damn i need to hit chu up man.

i can learn alot from you.

    thank you for your time.

  • not convinced how is this helping someone's boxing skills, No footwork movement, no incentive to keep her guard in the correct position. Yes this may help precision but any other aspects that involve boxing are lost. Boxing is about technique rather than show boating, this is how bad habits develop. My opinion feel free to debate.

  • @HelloImMisterCow Thanks for your opinion and no need for me to debate, I train hundreds of amateur and pro boxers from around the world in this system of padwork and they continue to come back to me for more,, and the woman in the video is now a 3 Time State and Regional Golden Gloves Champion and respected trainer as well,, but thanks for your comment.... Coach Rick

  • @HelloImMisterCow i have to agree...anyone else shoudlnt use this for padwork. it wont really help you... only mayweather can do this lol

  • @HelloImMisterCow It's also intended to be more of a "RELEX" and "COUNTER PUNCHING" drill then teaching Boxing 101. The only thing in boxing that can teach everything in ONE drill is actually act of sparring. Any drill outside of that is simply a tool used to sharpen the focus point of the drill... just like the heavy bag, double ended bag or speed bad!

  • Neither, necessarily teaches footwork movement or gives an incentive to keep your guard in the correct position, and also can be used as tools to promote "show boating" (as you so foolishly put it)

  • @HelloImMisterCow yo bro, these drills build a fighters coordination involving punching slipping ducking and countering........combining all of that together into one motion, and buddy building coordination is NOT show boating, and even if it was SO WHAT!!.........lol...........i mean there is no fighters hand book that says showboating equals bad character, for god sake look at roy jones, floyd mayweather and muhammad ali......they show boated and backed it up too!!

have a nice day pal :)

  • he is not punching , he is ticking the patts

  • whats the difference between Mayweather boxing mittwork and regular mittwork?

  • coach rick you have a god given talent. your blessed. i am trying to teach your padwork as a trainer too. repitition is the only way. marty. h. from ireland

  • @supermartyh Thank you my brother I appreciate the compliment very much,, but I am just like you my brother a student of the sport and still always learning,,, I like what I saw in your mittwork video, keep up the great work!! A few trainers from Ireland just ordered my Mittwork training DVDs, so it might be starting to really catch on over in Ireland, you guys have a great boxing history and some great fighters as well... Stay in touch my brother and keep up the great work,, Coach Rick

  • @allentown18 Maybe you can get down here to Jersey one day or I can make a trip to you to do some training in the summer....

  • nice show but wheres the power?? switch it up a lil, she knows 2 or 3 punches ahead where hes gonna put the pad

  • Hitting the pads hard doesnt make you a Hard Puncher,, proper technique in throwing the punch is what does, hence to the inexperienced observer, she looks like she is throwing punches without putting much effort into them, but in reality she is punching harder than a lot of amateur male boxers her weight (119lbs) she is a 2 Time Golden Gloves Champ 08 - 09 winning 7 of her 9 fights by Knockout, not TKO, KO, so I guess its not all a show when I train fighters in this system of padwork,,but thanks

  • Looks to me like this kind of padwork is more intended to develop rhythm and nervous automation rather than combinations or accuracy, a bit like speed ball work with pads. Probably a good system to complement more straight forward training, but perhaps more for the professional fighter no?

  • this is cool but not very effective

  • My fighters continue to win consistently using this system of mittwork, so I am have to correct you it is extremely effective and I have coaches and fighters that I have worked with from around the world who would agree with me on it... But thanks for your comment...

  • everyone tries to imiitate folyd, but people got to understand, folyd fights of smarts. he has developed this skill since he was a boy. he out smarts his opponent, and know there nex before they even tink of it.

  • in what aspect does this help? i mean the punches are not tight and the guard is not up so is it just eye hand coordination and such ?

  • @ZaidTheGreat , it develops Smoothness of motion, Reflexes / coordination and CIS offensive and defensive countering and attack,,, her guard is tight as are her punches, but only to the trained eye,, to anyone else watching it just looks pretty cool,, to professional boxing coach its "poetry in perpetual motion"... She is reigning (2009) Eastern Reg. Golden Gloves Champion / Philadelphia Golden Gloves Champion (119lbs)

  • oh i was not underestimating the coaching's style nor the fighter i only wanted to know in which areas it helps.. i have boxed for a number of years and gotten local titles but on my side of the world iv never seen this form of mitt work and it was really interesting and as i just learned very useful. i wish i would learn how to coach this style of mitt work with my female fighters (i train 2 who i really believe in)

thank u for the reply it was very informative and professional

  • Thank you my friend,, where are you located at? I have had coaches order my Mastering the art of technical boxing mittwork training dvd series from virtually every part of the world, I have made some really great friends in Germany, Australia, UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand, to name a few... I have a great deal of respect for all coaches and I enjoy sharing ideas and learning from coaches around the world,,, thank you for your comments.. Coach Rick

  • i am from the middle east from country named Jordan, i have coached boxing for 2 years only but iv boxed for 7 and i still box , trained 2 female boxers before, one went to become Jordan's middle weight champion and thus now is obliged to train with the national team and i barely hear from her anymore and the other one got married and quit,

  • im training 2 new female boxers, i can see they have a great deal of potential and are trying to find their boxing style, id really love to order a copy of ur DvD series it seems very useful and im sure it will take my fighters places.. does it have to be credit card order or can i order it from u directly and send u a money transfer? and how much does it cost and so on.

thank you very much and keep up the great work.

  • Hi Zaid, yes you can order the dvds from me direct, its is $40 for the set, I do not charge for shipping,,, so just let me know if you want them and I will get them ready to ship out to you... Thanks, Coach Rick

  • Reflexes, combination punching, speed.

If I'm not mistake the coach is calling out combos, that means the boxer has to memorise sub-routines of punches and execute them on command.

All this develops good boxing intelligence, speed and agility. This would go well with a a fighter who wants to out-smart and out box his opponent. I

  • @SuperMoshan or IN-box his opponent ;)

  • Cooles Workout!!!

  • god i love that sound its music......

  • 5**ST*RS** like always G,when will you be in CALI?
