If You want to add some power to it, tune it up with my newly developed Universal Black Powder Bullets. With the right Powder, like 777, Swiss BP,KIK BP and Black MZ and the Right Projectile like my New VKV 240 and 255 Grain Bullets which are capable of exceeding 357 and 41 Magnum Power with more sectional density and a bigger hole!! Videos demonstrating my bullet are on my channel and Mr. Hovey Smith's Channel.
I have a 1858 Urbeti, when I was trying to find out when it was made I came across some manufacturing info on it. They said out of the box they were sighted for 75 yards. At the range it would shoot about 6-7 in. high at about 10 yards but at 50 yard it was pretty dead on. Oh my was made in 83 still looks and shoots great. lots of fun.
They can be surprisingly powerful. I own a 12 in stainless 1858 and I get 1250fps/450ftlbs with 37- 70 40gr of 777, a wad and a ball and get over 960fps and 530ftlbs out of a 240gr swc conical and 32gr of 777 that is 41 magnum power out of the 1858. I have taken many deer and hog with the revolver. Check out my kills at the yahoo percussion revolver group. Also Hovey Smith the Gun Digest black powder editor has a couple of videos here on you tube and will be hunting with them this year.
