  • This would be an even better song had it not been for that "shave and-a-haircut" rhythm in the chorus where she's singing "Only You Can Do It."

    It was sung briefly in the Beatles' TV special in 1964, and it sounds much better live.

    I agree that Jean Owen was a very good singer. The first time I saw the clip of them on the Beatles show, I was very impressed by how she can belt.

  • Thanks s2trash for posting this, the original song later made famous by Francoise Hardy in bothe French and English. Lead singer on this version is Jean Owen, later better known as Samantha Jones, a much under rated 60s Brit girl. A bit of video of this being performed live by the Vernons Girls was on Youtube but I think it has now been removed - it was even better than the recorded version and much better in my opinion than Hardy's English version.
