At the time CS-80 came, he bough 9 of them! Anyway the basis of Vangelis' setup is his electric pianos; Rhodes Mark 1, Yamaha CP-80 and Yamaha GS-1. Vangelis once said he's fine with them and can do everything with them if should not use any synthesizers.
WoW!!!I really think Vangelis is like Bach in his time,he is famous but in a very special way,and in 20 or 60 years i think he is going to be remembered as the Musical GOD/genius we all know he is....Viva la Musica y Viva Vangelis.....
there is a point when the backing track on "movement 1" appears. interestingly enough, it's when he does a performance of "ti ipermacho stratigo" that sounds more vivaldi than byzantine =]
well spotted!By the set-up, the various keyboards set up in that way plus the window behind him i'm thinking this was filmed while he was in the middle of composing soil festivities. I've been listening to movement 1 a lot lately, it's become my favourite piece at the moment I could listen to it over and over. would love to have been that assistant guy, even though Van kind of got a bit annoyed with him!
indeed, soil festivities is one of his last works in that studio, (the mitical nemo studios) later he packed things and closed up, if i were the interviewer i would be with him all the day just listening his marvelous music, soil festivities is for me one of his most beautiful works, and let's don't forget china la opera sauvage and for me one of the bests, el greco from 1998, among others....
(1492) La Pinta, La Niña and La Santa Maria is one of favorite Vangelis... Yes, and Blade Runner...
