wow this is probobly alot of fun for you....i hate to ask but i would like to know what kinds of birds u have..like a list..i love your birds...i like the spiderweb like thing in the corner..i bet ur very busy...i hope you have fun with all of those birds.. there alot of fun :)
Great Room, I'm redoing my bird room and this gave me some great new ideas. Mos tof my guys where adopties too and are older birds. Thanks for shareing pic's of this.
The bird room was designed so my birds can fly, forage, and explore freely during the day. They are also allowed to fly about the house- but only with supervision, when I am present. Thanks for your interest!
Damn, i thought i was the only one with so many aritingas, five alltogether, and thirteen in the flock, they all mingle amungst them selves in my computer room, i can imagine how loud your room is
Wow... there are so many questions I would want to ask you first before attempting a reply. Email me if you want and we can try to figure it out. Thanks!
What you see in the video: 1 Hahns Macaw, 1Cherry Headed Conure, 1 Nanday Conure, 1 Blue Crowned Conure, 2 Gold Cap Conures (Petey- the one crawling on his belly died 9 mo. ago at 35+ yrs. He was handicapped and was here to live out his last days). Penelope (the one in the cage by herself) is a Black-Capped Pyrhurra Conure (also known as Rock Conure). She ended up returning to The Gabriel Foundation & was adopted by another family, as this environment was too noisey for her.
@warofthewalruses - Sorry it took me so long to respond. No, they are not sun conures. They are Gold Capped Conures. Sun Conures are much brighter in coloring. But Conures (though loud) are amazing parrots!
The cages and toys were an initial expense, but more than anything- deciding to create a room like this was based on what I felt would be the highest level of responsible ownership and commitment. With the exception of one, all these guys were adopted through the Gabriel Foundation- a parrot welfare org. These guys have an avg. lifespan of 30+ yrs. They've been in other homes before mine, with various levels of care. They deserve the best that I can give them- a quality diet, space & love! :-)
Do you ever have any issues with the different sizes of birds hurting eachother? We have a Nanday and Caique which are similar size birds and they fight a little but there's no real danger. We're interested in a larger bird like an amazon but are concerned with them hurting the smaller birds. Great video!
We recently acquired an Amazon-an incredibly gentle soul. Two conures will tag team against another conure. The Hahns is domineering with everyone including the Amazon (except the Cherry Head). The most fearless are our 2 Pacific Parrotlets, as they will "dive bomb" as a team against a larger bird! For safety they stay in another room & free fly when no one else is around. Ultimately, it depends on the individual bird's personality, how they've been socialized, & their personal preferences :-)
Thank you! Of course, there's always more stuff add and replenish so that it doesn't get boring. Clean up can be a real chore, but I'm happy that there's a place for them to hang out, explore, and be safe! :-)
hehe good luck with that!... I have tried and failed, but lorikeets seems poop ALL THE TIME. Every 5-10 minutes, since it is liquid. I still try though... No chance if you don't try eh? Earlier the better too.
I've learnt alot of bird language. Animal behaviour really fascinates me. Thanks for your suggestions. I have hard wood floor now, and the poop that comes from one lorikeet is astounding! Is there anyway you could teach your to go in the cage? That's what I will do with my birds... it's too hard with a lorikeet cause they go every 10 minutes, although she knows what "go potty" means! I'd have an outside aviary for warm days so they could get some sun. I can't wait!
One of these days.... I would LOVE to have the nerve to start training that they go only in certain places... like they could have pooping stations that they could fly to and land whenever they needed to do that... Great Idea! Thanks! :-)
That's amazing. I'm dreaming of having a bird room when I move out, and get a macaw. ahaha my lorikeet loved this vid! She was talking to your birdies the whole time :D gee I thought my bedroom was bad with the one cage and the cockatiel cage in the lounge! :D
Wow! Very cool that another bird started to talk back to them when watching the video. The thought of that really made me smile :-D Birds are such social beings...though it may sound like empty 'noise' to us, to other parrots it is like hearing their own language being spoken or something! When you make your bird room, my only advice would be to ensure you have an easy-clean floor surface, and that you put in full-spectrum light bulbs in the ceiling light fixture. Thanks for your comment! :-D
Thank you! Right now it is time to do some "replenishing" of supplies in there, since the toys and supplies are definitely being used up as intended! Thank you for you comment. :-)
Awesome!! It's a jungle in there! They are so spoiled!! They even have their own TV! You should put a small garden bird bath in there so they can bathe when they want also! Oh! one with a little fountain or waterfall would be awesome. They would really feel like they were in the jungle. Great job on your room. Im jealous!
Thanks for the compliment! :-) I've wanted to put a little birdie bath in that room, but I worry about the wood floor. Yet they already splash/bathe in their water dishes, so I doubt it would make much difference anyway. One day I will do something though! The TV is for when I play either Parrots International conservation videos, Polly Vision, or The Bird Sitter video. I am NOT exaggerating when I say that ALL my guys stop to watch that Bird Sitter video. They absolutely LOVE it! :-)
Just be creative, and try to think like a bird... "what would be fun and interesting to do? Where could I go next?" Whatever you do, make sure you have a floor that can be easily mopped! :-)
Wowi wish that room was in my house but i think with that many birds ill never get sleep again

This really works! Trust me!
1. Cover your mouth with your hand
2. Make a wish into it
3. Close your hand into a fist
4. Hold your fist to your heart for4 -5 seconds
5. Send to 3 more videos
6. Tomorrow will be the best day of your life
(Just do not wish for an unicorn or something like that)

Do they get territorial over cages? Like if one bird went into another's "home", do they get upset?
Carahfae 8 months ago
@AirsoftParrot - There is a wood floor, and we make sure that we wash it regularly. If you "spot clean" daily, it really doesn't get that bad.

So how do you stop them from destroying the walls? My bird ignores the toys and immediately goes after anything she shouldn't!
