  • tis damae 5000 $? holly shit.

  • a bump like that and Volvo will say go and inspect the rear of that XC90 because the bumper may look fine but underneath the foam/ crumple zones may have partially activated... insurance people = livid

  • Two Panzers.

  • i find it too hard to believe to see 5000 dollars of damage happened to the 1 car and 1 g for what a scratched bumper

  • this test is almost useless unless all cars rear end xc90s. The cost to repair damage on the XC90 will be lower couse there is no expensive headlights nor radiators on the back of the car...

  • SUV is like...

    U mad bro

  • meanwhile at america

  • God forbid we should have SUV bumpers the same height as car bumpers.

Everyone needs SUV-like clearance to deal with the brutal "offroad" conditions they encounter in their suburban driveways and sidestreets.

  • @MaestroTJS I recently got rid of my Jeep for a car for gas saving purposes. You should see the front bumper of my car, it has become bent and scratched to hell because of curbs and pot holes and all of the plastic is practically coming off. In my opinion they should just make cars taller.

  • @Michael60613 I don't see how curbs and potholes can be doing that to your bumper unless you're driving like a maniac or something. People driving SUV's and trucks in parking lots bumping into you would be another story, though.

I don't like the idea of cars getting taller because of the higher centre of gravity, and the poorer handling, ride, and rollover rate that comes with that.

Cars had tough-as-hell bumpers starting in the mid-70's, but they loosened the laws in the '90's or so.

  • @MaestroTJS Would it help if I said it was a Prius, that car is super low And i always drag the front end on curbs. Im 19, I can be a little reckless.

  • @Michael60613 I can see the part about the lower part of the front end on curbs--some places are certainly worse than others (maybe I'm lucky where I live).

You must be very socially responsible to be owning a Prius (and not some sporty car, for example) at 19. ;)

  • oh come on, how do those costs even add up ? 5000$ really? considering the car's price tag starts at about ...15000 EUR. It's just unrealistic.

  • that is why new volvos have an auto stopping system at low speeds....to avoid stupid crashes like these and suplementary huge costs!!!

  • In Moldova this will be cost not 5000$ but by around 500-600$) maybe max 800$

  • @Emirate011 LOL... but then a Moldovan mechanic would use wood glue and nails to repair it...

  • i hate new cars they are all crap no country or make is good on any pre-1970 car that would me $50 to take out a small dent and fix a scratch not 5 grand nor a new front clip

  • @surredneck66 Sure, after you get out of hospital because you're significantly more likely to get hurt in an old car.

New cars crumple for a reason...to save lives.

It's more important to me that I have a better chance of surviving an accident then if my car is wrecked during one.

  • the price is in dolars?

  • this would be great if you were sitting in neutral with no cars in front of you..

  • My god ; $5,000 for a small rear ending !!?? No wonder why Volvo's are so expensive to maintain and repair ..

  • @LoveTheCity123 Maintenance isn't that bad. Also when you think of it He probably broke the radiator and it's fan, he bent the bonnet, that needs to be painted, the grill and it's surround is broken, it also comes unpainted, so does the bumper which he may have broken, the headlights are probably damaged. The thing is, nobody repairs stuff anymore, they just replace it.

  • the xc90 has like no damage at all!

  • volvofunclub [dot] com

  • $ 4984,00 you buy a new volvo!

  • @d4du88 I don't think so...

  • @JENSDONT used volvo better than moust of cars

  • @d4du88 That's true, but in those cars, you can't enjoy the ride :D

  • @d4du88 i had a 440 '95 for £450. and it ran well making a good first impression

  • lmfao.

  • 1. For insurance rates ( the more damage in a low speed wreck like this, the higher the collision insurance rate )

    2. To make you feel bad about owning a car designed to help protect those outside the car as well as inside the car. ( the Volvo outperforms most any other as the speed increases ).

Of course, it isn't a good idea to rear end any other vehicle anyway, let alone an SUV - the softer cushioning reduces the most common injuries drastically.

Safety no longer means un-bendable. :-(
