  • Stevie Wonders song. George sings it well, but Stevie sings it good too.

  • Did a good job on 'As' and this one, clearly loves this music.

  • I like this Alot . So Dark and beautiful

  • Su voz me mata!!! I love you George ♥♥

  • why do u people have something against this george michael version?? If u prefer stevie's version, go the fuck and listen that and stop writing souch nasty comments to this song.

  • maybe you don't know that the song that is included in listen without prejudice was recorded live at the Nelson Mandela Birthday Tribute in early 1988, but all crowd noise was removed! <3<3<3

  • this was my introduction to the stevie classic, george has done a few stevie songs.this is his best.

  • In Algeria we call him an artist!!!!

  • @farid11111

    YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS.VIVE ALGERIA.

  • This album is a Amazing. So far and beyond any Wham stuff. How far he's come.

  • When you got the pipes... you can sing anything. George could sing the ABC's and it would be amazing.

  • from 2:33-3:20 shows of his talent the power and the control of his voice!!

  • so very spiritual...feel it all through my body and mind...wonderful

  • BOTH ARE GREAT (Stevie and George)... There are several Stevie songs that have been covered and done better than Stevie... Here's my list:

They Won't Go When I Go by George Michael

Knocks Me Me Off My Feet by Luthor Vandross (rather a close tie)

Higher Ground by Red Hot Chilly Peppers (More energy)

Boogie On Reggae Woman by Marcus Miller (hey, I'm a bassist)

This is only MY opinion and i really don't care what ANYONE has to say about it...

    I just LOVE music.

  • err stevie is not a great singer! i remember george giving him a lesson back in the apollo days! I'VE SEEN BOTH LIVE ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS,only one winner and its the one with the tidy facial hair! i love stevie, its just that a minute percent of human beings can sing stevies own songs better than him,and george is one of them...please just look up the apollo gig or the vh1 gig...then sit back and let fact take its place

  • @Panos1963 "stevie is not a great singer" I stopped reading there.

  • @JGmartinezJr hahahah yeah, thats the equivilant of still calling the earth flat. Outrageous, the comments some people make. Out Rage Us

  • Stevie perfomed it in F#...G.M made it in F minor.

i prefer Original. But this is also great.

  • Oh lord...

Goosebumps at the first notes.... I heard this the first time when Legend Stevie sang it on Michael Jacksons funeral and it tore me to pieces...

And now I hear this version - stunning. I'm gobsmacked.

    Rest in peace Michael :-(

    Thank you Legendary sir Stevie

And I am in AWE of this man. George Michael.

    Effortlesly bringin me to tears.

  • played this at my dad and my aunt's funerals

  • @catmur2000 :'(

  • A lesser singer would've fucked this song up. I thank George for doing this song justice. Stevie would be proud. Plus, this is the type of song that should be used to determine whether a singer can actually sing or not. George is an underrated artist and to hear him do this song with respect to Stevie only proves that George doesn't fuck around when it comes to singing. Great job, George!

  • @EFunkRock

    yes, GREAT job!

  • Stevie wrote it that's true... the song that makes you cry and think about what we are and what we really want, well that's what I feel

  • Listen to this song while alone in a room and turned way up... I swear you'll believe in angels. vocal perfection!

  • FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Even though this guy seems to spend most of his time playing the fool nowadays instead of singing, I have to agree - he nailed this one. What a Vocal! Very Haunting.

  • i much prefer Stevie Wonder's version, but George Michael did a fantstic job covering this :)

  • Have to agree with others here, George is a better singer than Stevie, and this cover proves it.

  • @TouchingSkies

    George would disagree with you

  • played this at my dad and my aunt's funerals - the people who played them for us said they liked it

  • played this at my dad and my aunt's funerals - the people who plaeyd them for us said they liked it

  • 90's and 80's god where are those days gone. i used to go to Our Price listern and read the cd covers magic days.

  • An original from Stevie Wonder, but this version of George Michael is fabulous. What a great voice this man has. Makes me HAPPY.....

  • Great in sadness. Epic in talent. Both Stevie and George, bloody fantastic.

  • Stevie Wonder doesn't just create music. He creates meaning.

  • Great singer! one of the greatest evre. Respect

  • stevie was a talented composer and song writer....but lets get real, vocally,he was ok at best,GM was and is an amazing vocalist.....people need to wake up and smell the coffee!

  • if you need convincing how versatile george is, check out his freddie tribute, somebody to love

  • I don't think it's fair of us to compare. The way I see it, Stevie must have trusted George Michael's talents enough to allow him to sing his song. Isn't there another song George covered of Stevie?

  • @atoosas

errr love is in need to love ....explore!

  • Gorgeous. Thank you David Copperfield for introducing me to this song. And thank you poster for posting this.

  • i love you george!!! happy new year!!!

  • dlho som ju hľadal

  • A song from Stevie Wonder..he aint touchin him but he's good

  • @rrichmondboy Perfect description....

  • Well this is pretty much just the Stevie version with another voice and a little speeded up. Any discussion on which version is better, is just Stevie/George fans throwing shit at eachother.

Im on the Stevie-side, it just has that soul to it that George can't compare with.

  • played this at my Dad's funeral

  • stevie's version is peerless of course but george's is excellent remember he 's singing this LIVE! he was soooo talented its such a shame hes a screw up but that is the tortured artist cliche i guess. The choir bit is spine tingling.

  • I love George Michaeal! I grew up in the 70's,80,and 90,s listening to him! He is so great!. Such a great voice!

  • I found this "Listen Without Predjudice" cover available ona Tee-shirt available at Georges website. Cool Merchandise, and berautiful song! Thanks for sharing.

  • Stevie Wonder is an absolute legend...and so is George Michael. I can't choose between the two of them on this song.

  • brings back some sad memories. Still love this song.

  • poor georgie in the slammer

  • After reading some of these comments, it appears that some believe that this is George Michael's song. WRONG ANSWER!!! The original version was recorded by Stevie Wonder in1974. I like both versions.

  • @mikesmes omg same my mum was like you know george sand that song i was like no er.. stevie did lol

  • Comment removed

  • for the soul

  • for the soul

  • timeless!!!!!!

  • where are you george honey? we need you when the sun goes down. who are they to lock you down! what do they know!!!!!!

  • He really nailed this one, sometimes I forget how talented George is, great singer and song writer. Songs like this should only be covered by true musicians.. well done George.

  • Can anyone explain why George Michael keeps getting into trouble?

  • @mohinderbauer self medication... cancer men are very emotional. we share the same Birthday

  • P.S its also ironic, that all this negative response comes after Stevie sung this song at that weirdo's(i could say worse) funeral....they probably didn't even know that stevie sung this sung.....how funny is that....thankfully they have google! Gotta love a key board warrior..lol

  • uh....who's the keyboard warrior? you're the one throwing around insults bud, we're all entitled to an opinion but we should also all be respectful enough to say without hurling tacky and unnecessary barbs...

  • anyway, if you don't believe that stevie wonder has (or at least had) a technically comparable (and in my opinion, superior) voice to GM, type Stevie Wonder vocal range into youtube and check out the clip...audio proof that, just like GM, Stevie is a 4 octave tenor, but IMHO, his upper range has more richness and more character - which is why I believe GM chose to sing the song in d minor instead of e minor...just my opinion though, no need to get upset...

  • @StricklandRichard

Think you'll find George is singing this in F minor mate. And Stevie sings it in F sharp minor. Fail. Also disagree with your analysis that he has a superior voice to George. Vocally, he's not in the same class as him. Very few artists are. I love both versions. George hardly ever does cover versions. But he's done numerous Stevie covers, which I think speaks volumes about the respect he has for one of the greatest singer-songwriters of the modern era.....

  • @Panos1963 I could call you weird (and worse) but i wouldn't be right to coz i don't know who you are.

This is a really, really good cover from George Michael, sad tho that a lot of us MJ fans will link this song only to the Memorial Service, whoever sings it. Stevie sang it brilliantly, you have to admit.

  • nice version

  • it's okay...but stevie's is faaaaaar superior....and notice how he dropped it down a key or two so he could sing it? even besides the fact that stevie's got much more soul, his technical singing ability blows george michael away...no offense to GM fans, he's great, but he's no stevie, and I'm sure he'd be the first to admit it.....

  • @StricklandRichard Maybe, but as much as I love Stevie....I can't knock George....he did a GREAT JOB! This is one of my favorite covers.

  • @StricklandRichard

stevie a better singer than GM??...i've heard some REALLY stupid statements on this site, but you son....well you take the medal,T shirt DVD..the works..lol

I remember GM out singing Stevie WAY back in the welcome back to the Apollo days, since that day his voice improved tenfold....so your opinion is totally flawed

P.S you wouldn't know a key if it kicked you in the balls at a150 KPH..lol

I think Stevie is not renowned for a great voice?...or am i missing something?

  • @Panos1963

yikes, who pissed in your corn flakes? don't know if you're deliberately trolling but seriously dude, it's just you tube and I'm just expressing an opinion, no need to take such an insulting tone. consider though that George and Stevie are both 4 octave tenors, and I happen to think Stevie's higher range sounds better (which I think is proven by the fact that George chose to sing this song two keys lower - yes, I do know what a key is...)

  • @StricklandRichard actually it's just a semitone lower

  • If Stevie Wonder wrote this song, it's a good thing George can read braille...

  • im the one on the left behind the girl with the black top and the sunglasses on

  • HIs voice is so great. He makes this sound like an anthem, or a hymn.

  • more cry

  • I Sincerely love you my friend you are the best your voice is absolutely beautiful God Bless

  • @xxgiveusakissxx i agree

  • Unbelievable song. Stevie and George are both legends.

  • love this

his voice is the most beautiful white voice

  • Lets just enjoy this SW is the shit and so is GM.

  • Who gives a f**k, a gr8 song by to gr8 artists. Just enjoy the music or f**k of

  • Comment removed

  • How can you not care who wrote and created the very song you claim to love? Your opinion of George Michaels rendition is just that...YOUR OPINON. We could debate all day who's is better. However, the plain and simple fact is if it weren't for Stevie Wonder you would not be able to appreciate this song at all. At the very least have some respect please.

  • I don't care if Stevie wrote this. George really made it into a symphony..His best song ever.

  • Comment removed

  • ITS NOT HIS SONG MAAAN ...

AND GEORGE MICHAEL DID NOT A SYMPHONY :D

HE DID IT IN HES OWN STYLE, BUT NOT A SYMPHONY MAAAN ...

IS ONLY ONE MAN WHO CAN MAKE A SYMPHONY FROM ANYTHING ...

    ITS STEVIE WONDER...

    HUGS FRIEND!!

  • @rubster1975: I agree. This is one of the few remakes that I consider to be better than the original. Not that Stevie's version is bad at all, but George Michael did an amazing job of capturing the melancholy spirit of the song.

  • @rubster1975 You really should have respect for Stevie Wonder without him writting and performing this song George Michael would not have had the chance to. Nothing wrong with your comment, but please don't disrespect the greastest singer, song writer, and composer of out time.

  • @Madsen1447 COuldnt agree with you more - Stevie is a phenomenal being, hence why George has covered at least two of STevie's songs

  • i'm agree, what i can say......is awesome.

  • @rubster1975 Excellent conotation. Copy means progress. Is good that Stevie wrote it...but George really touch what nobody else will in me...and really? Do you think they mind this situation? They are all artist...they stay on the same world...So enjoy the song and this angelic voice....never worry about who and what....

  • @rubster1975 George did just a cover, ok this is good cover but nobody, never can't even think to sing it better than Stevie ;)

  • @BlackRedBlues I agree, this is good but Stevie is the real king!

  • it's called "singing'. Simply amazing...

  • Sorry u were misinformed. George Michael was a member of one of the most successful band of the 80s Wham. Stevie Wonder wrote with Yvonne Wright & sang this song a decade b4 GM was even thought of ..In 1974 GM was 11 SW is a musical genious!!!

  • George is worthy of all your praise here except HE DID NOT WRITE THIS SONG, he is a fantastic artist, well, he's George Michael enough said... but Stevie Wonder wrote this song and if you took just 5 seconds on google before you posted this rubbish you might not look like the plonker you do now.

  • @rolybling yeah and you could just respond that someone made a mistake, and not flame a perfect stranger online.

  • I love both versions.

  • Amen to that!! Stevie's verison is just so haunting! I love it! And when he did it for Michael Jackson's memorial service.....WOW! POWERFUL!

  • great song, i prefer George's version!

  • seriously ? <.< jezz

  • Breathtaking and beautiful. George's voice is one of the best ever.

  • **2 VOICE 2 LEGEND **

  • stevie wonder is a legend and musical genius..but I do prefer this version...Georges voice sounds like its filling a stadium.

  • I love this song, I think I prefer this version to Stevie Wonders actually... seems more haunting and dark I think.

  • @ChloeSteadman

yes he made it so melancholy and gave it an atmosphere it doesnt have on stevies recorded version. However, I love both versions george has his own "demons" so he has a way of tapping into darkness.

  • wow.

  • j'adore

  • GM4L Talent, beatutiful!

  • Deosebit...

  • beautiful song, didn't think anyone could touch stevie wonder's version but george michael proves he's a real talent over and over again....this song is no exception

  • love this album

  • World AIDS day song

  • This is the most satisfying song to stand alone with my eyes closed & just SING.

George's version gives me goosebumps every time.

I was in tears this moring finding out that he's not including Melbourne in his Australian tour! :( I've been a fan since WHAM!!

  • true !

  • LEGEND

  • I love this song so much and GM has so much talent it's crazy. I used to alternate between Cowboys and Angels and this one. I love them both.

  • this is what david copperfield uses for his mascot moth illusion

  • very beautiful voice, I prefer George's version

  • Excellent performance...what if the original is from Steve?

    He sings it magically!!

  • Stevie is indeed a living legend. I however prefer George's tighter version of the track. Both top notch, creation and execution!

  • @diablemarin you are so right

  • no one cansing this song like stevie!

  • It's about redemption, simple.

  • really? i thought it was about phony friends, and to endure tough times created about by the latter

  • To be honest I don't know what the fuck this songs about but I like it alot.

    His best album.

  • agreed =P

  • EXCELLENT GEORGE SING BROTHER SING

  • Can I remind you all that this is also a Live recording.

  • The song Stevie Wonder wrote for Michael Jackson was I can't help it, which is one the Off the Wall album. He gave the tape of the song to Quincy Jones for him to give Michael.

  • this is stevies song!

  • gm made it brilliant but this is frim 1990 woul hear it know with the voice he has now! best singer gm but mj toooo rip

  • george singt heute wie ein stueck scheisse, und sieht auch noch so aus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • steevie didnt made it specially for MJ it was made in1973

  • Good, but no one can sing it like the original Stevie Wonder. He's got soul.

  • ...My favorite version!!!!!! Love you George!!!! Makes me chill.....

    Perfect song for MJ memorial......

    R.I.P Michael...

  • je prefere la version de stevie wonder kan mm

    mé il hante bien

  • good song, but love the way stevie sang it for mj's memorial!

  • GM does this song well but not like Stevie at MJ's memorial. He sang it so wonderfully so much emotion. It fitted perfectly for MJ. the lyrics.

  • YOU ROCK!

  • Amazing version.......What a singer :)

  • This song was so beautifully dedicated to the one and only King of Pop. :')

George Michael remind me of Freddie Mercury.

  • God bless Stevie. When he did this song for M.J.'s Memorial it was so powerful.

  • OBVIOUSLY-you all don't even know that this song was written by Stevie Wonder-OBVIOUSLY and UNFORTUNATELY none of you were raised around brilliant music

  • Right.I knew the song and his creator in MJs memorial. Its sad how great songs there are and we don't even know their existence.

Stevie Wonder is pure greatness...George Michael is a superb singer(and a half Greek like me0.MJ is truly a legend.

  • esta cancion la cantaron en el homenaje de michael jackson es magnifica

  • saddest song ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • To offer such a debased argument, in the face of such a redeeming plea from the human soul, is to present irrefutable evidence for how forsaken we truly are.

  • The piano in this instance is reminiscent of Walter Afanasieff. A common hallmark of the late 80's/early 90's was to use this type of vocal layering during an acoustic ballad, echoed in the similarly arranged Mariah Carey song "Vanishing" which was arranged also by Afanasieff. Another Mariah song at the end of her Daydream album, called "Looking In" has a similar melody path to the George Michael version of They Won't Go When I Go.

  • You speak like a genuinely lost soul. Every single comment you make proves it. Such obvious SELF HATRED & lack of SELF RESPECT you have to return here again & again & again to make yourself look so pathetic. As I said B4, you cannot help yourself. You've never learned any better. Get professional help, please. As long as you live & breathe, it's not too late.

  • Stop arguiing and listen to the lyrics!!!!

  • also let me guess you live down south LOL

  • you might want to get facts straight before you speak...try google just a little hint

  • do you smoke crack greg?

  • let the man rest in peace.

  • wow.... you are a complete idoit.... haha.... your stupidity amazes me haha your dumb.

  • You are clearly retarded, the girl is right Stevie Wonder wrote and first made this song. Much like what happened with the Jackson 5 and Smokey Robinson. And Stevie Wonders depiction is MUCH better than this.

  • do u understand what you just said

  • Have any of you heard George Michael interviewed? Have you heard him talk about how much he REVERES Stevie Wonder? How many of Stevie's songs has George Michael covered? I seriously doubt George would buy into these stupid comparisons.

  • You are an idiot. Stevie wrote the song, he has every right to sing it. Plus, he recorded it in '74, before GM was in Wham. He's a musical genius. You need to read a book. They both do wonderful renditions.

  • Disrespect indeed. You are deaf. It's a tribute.

  • it's not disrespect, Your deaf it's not soulful that's my point.
