The greatest success of Wang was not his international achievements. Actually, he did not win any men single title in international championship. On the other hand, Wang was the king of internal matches especially winning 2 times National Games and some Chinese National Champions. He was very strong in internal matches. For his playing style, He is still the best.
I don't think you can underscore the fact that he is probably the greatest(?) doubles player of all time.
5 WTTC (2 in men's doubles, three in mixed, and a gold and silver medal). Liu called his win against Wang Tao at the '96 olympics the greatest win of his career, because of how great of a player he though Wang was.
@takkyu101 I did not underscore his men's double success. Actually, his internal success was much greater than his international success. As said before, He was EXTREMELY powerful in chinese championship. Winning the National Games is the highest prestige in China. Also, it is more difficult to win than WTTC.
