i like to make my simple syrop in an old clean mickey bottle, use about 3-4 shots of regular vodka, half a lemon's juice, and shake it up with lots of ice

When you sugar the edge, wipe the inside edge of the glass with a cloth, that way you don't get the sugar in the drink and polluting the cocktail.

if you dont have citrus use skyy it mixes great with the rest of the ingredients and you still end up with a great taste

personally, i'd use 8 lemon wedges instead of 4 and toss in some simple syrup or sugar (though i prefer to use equal rather than sugar, as it dissolves faster and more completely)
