hey fam, its your boy dj Dean. I say host a talk show whether on radio or tv, talk about issues, give opinions on current events with special guest coming on like russell simmons, teachers, lawyers, reporters, poets
Did you ever think of organizing a spoken word award assembly? This would encourage writers and a multitude of talent would emerge to showcase and/or compete at the assembly. Just a thought.
I have a question. First of all, you have my deepest respect and I look forward to learning from you for the rest of my life. Question: I realize the destinction of spoken word from music and the benifts thereof, however, do you insist that in a musical context you would nessecarily compromise your art? i.e. working with musicians? Being a musician myself, I was just telling someone today that natural human speech is to me among the musically inspiring things.
I really feel that, first I think Like a play or some sort or visual story. Kinda like the " So-Called" Black plays, but with no Tom Foolery. The knowledge is being dropped, but the ones who should hear the message, are not in the buying the cd or coming to the shows( as they are now)
First of all, I love your work! Now, advice to push the envelope...What about visiting colleges and universities to speak because I know some places(especially HBCUs) that would really benefit from hearing your message. Just an idea. Thanks for doing what you do!
I also agree. I do a little independent journalism for GNN who created the True Lies video. I can give you feedback on the things that I see as being most important and reliable to include in your work if you like.
I think your spoken word without music is most powerful. I also think you should continue the great poems of inspiration to the youth to wake up, intellectually and spiritually. I think you are part of this wonderful tapestry of this global awakening. Peace
pushing the envelope advice? hmmm...how about a tour? i mean if it's affordable. do a wake up tour, a tour where you're poetry hits harder and harder on whats going on today, waking people up from this materialistic fantasy matrix they're living in, the government, the unfortunate future, try to get them to look at the stars and just try to wonder where god is, try to get them to forget realize the lies the have believed...yeah, that would be a great tour, a monumental one.
This Moe in Jacksonville. Brother, Right now you are pioneering an artform that may not blow in this particular lifetime, but when there is no more Taalam Acey they'll be a generation of up and coming poets that will give props to the main people that paved the way and your name will always be in top 5 dead or Alive. Your a Living Legend baby. You don't have to do nothing else.
Taalam, I agree with Dougibo1975. I think you need to help frame the youth by encouraging them to make better decisions, while discouraging them from making bad ones. You are very inspiring. You can do plenty. I would love to work with you on a project entitled, Intersections of Life.
Hope your interested. Send me a message, we can talk.
You are for sure one of my favorite people to watch. Your words send shivers down my spine, regardless of how many times I listen. I like the workshop idea. I also think it would be cool to speak out in public places. Get some friends together and go out to a park or street corner or a mall or something and just perform. Your friends watching you might catch peoples attentions and get them to stick around and watch too if they see other people enjoying you. Might help to get more people involved
Comment boxes need a higher character count. Haha!
Also filming you performing live and "acoustic" if you will would be really interesting and enjoyable to watch here on youtube. Things like that make the entertainer seem more real and approachable in a way. Well, to me anyway.
Taalam I love you man for the man you are and the work you do you are more than an entertainer and that's no small title because you are a phenomenal entertainer and an amazing teacher. I suggest you put together a foundation and do workshops. If you would like to talk more about it let me know I can get in touch with you through Ruben here in Philly the next time you are in town. The Womb is havign an anniversary in April. Peace brotha

i agree, Taalam and a few others like ron paul have a chance to wake up the mass from their fantasy sleep, they should take advantage of it.
