Perfect casting, they're both so breathtakingly beautiful. Although, some of you guys, you are no better than people who dislike the story. Get over yourselves. Some people just can't relate to the completey unrealistic plot. It's like me looking down at you because I think astrophysics is beautiful and you don't. We all find different things inspirational, liking Shakespeare doesn't make you some sort of profound literary genius.

I'm gonna explain why Romeo and Juliet sucks. First off, Friar Lawrence gives Juliet a potion that makes her not breath and have now pulse for FORTY TWO FUCKING HOURS. This is not suspension of disbelief as nothing like this happens in the entire play. Secondly, the potion is Shakespeare's plot device to kill off Romeo, and the fact that potion's effects are so unrealistic it makes the play's finale bullshit.

I agree, The beautiful girl playing Juliet, Olivia Hussey was first refused by Zeffirelli, because quite a bit overweight, the chosen girl made a mistake of cutting her hair short, and so Hussey was chosen.

The film was taken all over central Italy and not only at Verona, Zeffirelli searched for the best places to create the right ambient.
