Yeah, this DOES sound pitched up. As a former DJ of 20+ years, that's the 1st thing I noticed when I started listening to this. None the less, still a classic!
@DrTalk1 yep. had a varible speed turntable and grandkid moved the dial and I didn't realize it until after posting. I will change out the audio and redo it sometimes this week. Thanks!!
Somewhere on YouTube there's a version of Desmond Dekker singing "Israelites",a live performance at some club, that's a tiny bit faster, and subsequently in a different key, that what I usually hear on the radio.I like that version better.
Saw Tom Paxton last night and he did Bottle of Wine, the way he does it. I hadn't remembered that he wrote it, I just remembered the original rocker by the Fireballs. Just shows what you can do with a great Tom Paxton song. Vastly different than when Tom does it, but both ways are great.
Every college guy I knew in 1967 sang this song with relish and gusto. I was too young for all of them, but I sneaked in a couple of parties and heard them all sing this at the top of their lungs. Great memories...
This song came out in 1967 and was THE favorite song of every college guy in Tempe, Arizona. I was too young to understand why, but they all sang it at drinking parties. And Tom Paxton wrote it!
@plumbsue It was a rock'n'roll instrumental from the late 1950s. If I recall correctly, Jupiter C was a monster 3-stage U.S. rocket used back then to put our early astronauts and satellites into space. Ergo, "Jupiter C" by Pat and The Satellites.
I just bought a copy of this on 45. Atco was probably my favorite label as a kid growing up in the 60s, because of all the great releases. The Coasters' Along Came Jones was an early favorite. :)

Bottle of Wine
Losing my mind,
this tune is driving me crazy
Get out of head
I'm going to bed
I don't want it playing no more

@mpsicily I kinda like it too fast actually. There's more urgency and it fits the theme of the track.

This is a good rendition!
I had a friend who drove the unbalance, and the fire chief in a sleepy little town.
Here's to you PAT1
I went with Pat's parents to identify the remands.
When Pat was at "North Eastern State college in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, I saw him dig cigarette butts oiut of a plate of cold spaghetti!
No, my generation never did any thing. We just won a "COLD WAR"

Water And Wine
I could never color within the lines
or play well with others or take my time
when i got older i just wanted to dance
I never gave the moment a chance
the addictions that I met moved on with time
until i couldn't tell the difference
between water and wine
