no it was braids with added hair and a clip on puff.. BUT my hair is now long enough to do that without adding anything

if you want it to stay healthy it's probable the best way, If you've had a perm than it might eventually start breaking off. It's just a quicker way to get to the natural roots though. Research for yourself some alternative ways that may work for you..

you can try getting it straightened for a while ... i think that can get pretty expensive if you dont know anyone who can do it or if you cant do it yourself. or just try ceramic flat irons on the natural part of your hair to get it straight. just a thought. hope i helped ya :)

I'm in the process of going natural...transitioning right now...and your hair inspires me because it's so beautiful! It's funny how when you have permed straight hair, you see people with curly hair and say "man, I wish I had curly hair". Then you realize you DO naturally have curly hair. So I'm going natural, baby! lol

Once you go natural you never go back. I (blackrafiki) have been natural for 9 years now and out of those 9 years locking for 4years. And I love it!!! The best thing I could have done for my hair. My hair is me and we need to learn to embrace our hair more. It is who we are!

sweety.. TRY it and see how it goes.. what do u have to lose if it doesn't work? u can always go back. I never want to impose on other but I personally love it.. it changed my whole personality and life style and even though I look different to every1 else, I'm some how much more content and happy... it works for me, might work for you

Like others...I began my transition for a few months (maybe 4 or 5 months)--then got scared and relaxed it! :-(

September 2005 was my last relaxer--and I cut the final relaxed strands off October 2006!!! Haven't been "scared" since! ;-)

Your story is soooo much like mine. I made a declaration to go natural, transitioned for a little while, cut it off, tried to be bold and wear it out then got scared, tried again later but didn't know how to take care of it, it looked dry and unloved. LOL....finally the nappy community showed me how to care for my hair and now I'm loving it. I'm working on getting some pics so I can show you guys. Your hair is beautiful

I am sure someone told you this already, but I'ma give my suggestion. You need locs girl I see your face and they would just compliment you seriously but thats jus me. I had my hair natural for 3 years it was an afro shoulder length but I got tired or doing my hair so I permed it was the worst mistake.
