@Dragonlover132 ... it is no coincidence. That is the same Gilgamesh. He is banished to the Cleft of Dimension (a.k.a. the Dimensional Rift) in Final Fantasy V (I really need to replay that game). He appears in Final Fantasy VIII after Odin's sword, Zantetsuken, cuts into space time and he comes out to claim it (He is obsessed with collecting swords). The Gilgamesh in every game is the same other than 9 (presumably) and 11. The Dimensional Rift is also how Gogo gets from 5 to 6.

@misfortunelife All the swords were fakes. The kanji on Cloud's buster sword even says "Fake." The others have other things wrong with them; a chocobo on Squall's revolver, Tidus' sword having two hooks on the end, for example.

@MeingroessterFan No his "Blade of Legend" as he called it, is also fake. Following the battle there is a short custscene when you try to grab the sword and it states that it is a replica of the original Wyrm-Hero Blade (real name of the sword, it's actually in the game FFXII).

Gilgamesh was alot of diffrent things in alot of the FF games....but mostly he was 2(sometimes 4 or 6) armed man in red that sought out powerfull weapons and items (his holy grail being the Excalibur Blade) in final fantasy 12 it can be seen that he has 6 arms...and if u look closely u will see he has some interesting blades....most of which came from main characters of previous FF games....And just like Omega weapon he can travel thru the Void to other universes to collect more weapons andItems

Gilgamesh is just the best in all of his appearences! He has the best lines of FF1 Advance/PSP, and then even three different ones! He's my favourite character in FF5, my favourite summon in FF6 advance and, although he's useless compared to Odin, also my fvourite GF in FF8, although Tonberry is close behind. He's the funniest NPC in FF9, the most epic boss in FF12 and my favourite character in Duodecim. Only Lord Gilgamesh can use himself as a summon! But the lack of Enkidu in D12 makes me sad.

When I heard Gilgamesh in Duodecim, I hoped for a story mode with him summoned by Chaos, him and Bartz fighting it out and then kill Exdeath together and then when things get dangerous with manikins and stuff Gilgy just leaves the dimension. But, didnt he always just jumps in and out except FF5? Just some fights and then vanish or stay as a summon, thats how Gilgamesh works. Oh, and I dont know if it was necessary to scream on me like that.

There was another encounter in IX when you beat him in the card game and he tells you his real name for the first time near the end of the game in Daguerreo.
