If my memory serves me right, this used to be shown on a Thursday lunchtime. A ten minute programme. old Yorkshire Television ident brings back some memories, too.
I've got that LP! My mother took me to see them play live (my first gig!) and bought it there. I only really cared about the theme song and "Rory Rory" as well, although I liked the drums in "Short'ning Bread".
How funny, had the same experience of being disbelieved. I share the view that compared to all the scarey kids stuff these days kwackers are lovable. I always remember them coming up in commercial breaks singing against a coloured background like cutouts and don't remember the show atall.Rory is kind of sexy. Rachel
I remember this show from about '78 but as some of the others have commented, I don't think this is the proper animation. I reckon this must be the "animatic" or rough animation that's used temporarily in production until the final animation is ready. The time code in the corner gives away the fact that this is an "insider's" copy so I'm sure this must be a rough draft.
I'm sure the real thing was all colourful and trippy like Crystal Tipps!
I just found the Animal Kwackers LP here in the US, wanted to see what the show was like (obviously never shown here in the States), though this little bit doesn't tell me much. I drove my co-workers mad playing the entire double album.
I really thought I had dreamed this programme as nobody admits to remembering it! The only thing is I thought the beginning was better than I remember, it was coloured in at least Im sure!
I thought I was on acid in my youth to have thought up this one. It must have been the hyperactive fish fingers instead.
America had the Banana Splits, with all the proper costumes and budgets, We in the UK had Animal Kwackers, with outfits left over from the facy dress shop.
Even though we didn't have the budget, ours was more cool!.... A blue lion, and a tiger with an eye patch...
I knew it! I knew it existed! My mates had me convinced this was all part of a weird childhood dream I must have had as none of them knew what the hell I was talkin about. I searched on the internet for ages a few years back and couldnt find a thing! Thanks so much for posting this hpjess.....anyone got any clips of the actual show that they'd bekind enough to share?
Are there no other clips of Animal Kwackers around? I need to see a clip of an episode if I'm to purge my mind of the damage inflicted on it as a child.
I remembered the animation being waaaaaay more amazing than that. Looks like a doodle with a felt tip pen. Kids today get Buzz Lightyear. We had Bongo, Rory, Twang and Boots.
So there is this powder-blue styrofoam rastafarian lion that slides down a pole, out from the under-side of a UFO, and says with a fixed grin, "I'm Rory"... Oh my God... that is pure evil.
Your Dad was Bobby Parr? My dad was in a band with him back in the sixties, when Kwackers was on tour and would come to Grimsby in the 70s your Dad would come round to see us,from memory he always wore shorts?.I remember him being in a couple of films too, land that time forgot with doug Mclure was one.Well hope evrything is well and im gonna call me old man up let him know.
as a lad i lived a few miles from the YTV studio where this show was made. someone's gotta have some archive video of some of the songs? get 'em posted please, let's relive the surreal nightmare.
I'm.....all voiced by the same actor ! Great clip though.

Is it just me, or does the intro sound like 'Jenny Don't Be Hasty' by Paulo Nutini?

it took me over 25 years but i managed to track down the LP with the full 2minutes version of the Kwackeers theme tune - it grooves.
rest of LP is a bit pishy however, apart from the Rory Rory tell us a story bit - which is cool.

I'm afraid not. My Dad was Peter Eden. Apparently Bobby played Bongo on the live tours, whereas my dad played him on the TV program.
