@Heresiarhh Some people today like to refer them as russians i know he is latvian but they had ties with russia back then they where part of the soviet union. I also heard Don Cherry called Ruslan Fedotenko a russian altough he is Ukrainian which also had ties with Russia. And some soviet state republics today still speak a little russian such as Nik Antropov or evgeny nabokov

@31m0r0 Gainey could have been more discreet. However, I suspect that he tried to do things quietly by offering Laraque a leave of absence, which Laraque refused. That forced Gainey to act in a more public manner, and when Laraque's angry reaction hit the media, I think Gainey had enough and dropped the gloves.
