Things have actually gotten much better since the days when I sat in the Figaro wiith Buffy and Patrick. Remember that J. Edgar Hoover was still chief of the alternate government at the time and there was no reality, much less justice for Native Americans like Leonard. Justice comes slowly and is never complete, but that's what being a country is about. Buffy has always remained true to the cause of justice and decency for all. We all should have this level of integrity.

actually he DID kill them. He was tried, convicted, and went through 7 appeals that all found him guilty. And the "Annie Mae" from this song was killed by friends of his (2 of which have now been convicted for her murder). They killed her because she heard him admit to killing those 2 agents. During an interview last week on Democracy Now, it was reported that the gvmt, White House, had asked radio stations to black ball certain artists, like Buffy St. Marie, to repress her message. Buffy just performed in Santa Fe for a free concert! I'm so glad my parents told me I HAD to go. Her songs speak truth even now for my generation. I've never been politically active before, but I'm ready to make change this fall. She told our audience to vote "better". I couldn't agree more.
