  • awsome

  • Nuns were a lot cooler when they looked less like civilians and more like traditional nuns. This is a bold and pretty cutting edge commercial.

  • This is funny, but also true. Nuns are awesome! And yes their sense of style of totally kicks any fashionista's ass.

  • Hey, what was the second piece of music that you used in the commercial?

    I loved it.

  • Great Video! You should check out my channel! LOTS OF CATHOLIC VIDEOS! I can always use another Catholic friend :D

  • Thankyou for sharing! God bless.

  • I'm proud to be a catholic.

  • This is a creative work! I really never thought of nuns that way. Thank you for creating this. God bless you and nuns everywhere.

  • nuns are nice... i don't know its kind of fun how there always out in groups and always have fun with eachother... nuns are proof that a person can live a fun life and a religious one at the same time!

  • This commercial has gotten many comments! Is it that "hope dwells eternally in the human heart." I love Peggy Lee's redition of "Is That All There Is?" I am a retired Catholic priest. The nuns have helped and encouaged us priests so much. Re Peggy Lee, I think indirectly Miss Lee reminds us of the futility of our lives without something "real" to look forward to, Heaven. At 72 I am still enjoying life, enjoying everyone I meet, and drawing closer to God. Breviary & Mass: the centre of my life!

  • @watchful38 God Bless you for what you have done with your life:) I would like to recommend a book to you called "The prison Angel" it is a wonderful read about an extraordinary Nun.

  • Up here in Canada most nuns(sisters) dress in ordinary clothes. I like the distinctive dress of the nuns of yesteryear! I'm a retired priest and we priests dress in black only for formal occasions like funerals. Maybe we should listen more to Johnny Cash's "MAN IN BLACK".

  • @watchful38 When we wore our clerical shirts at Seminary, one of the children asked whether it was "Johnny Cash Day."

  • Glad to see athiests on here bashing bullshit for what it really is :D

  • i think nuns are very brave and courageous people. now, all they have to do is get their religion straight, and help the priests keep their hands off the altar boys!

  • Why do nuns cover their whole body and head? Do they follow the dress code of Mary?

  • @nefrinhayat their vows are all about keeping their eyes on God, and not having to care about physical beauty, and to keep others' eyes on God, instead of the nun's beauty.

  • what is the name of the song? :D

  • Video is well done.

Nuns have my admiration. I think without their prayer intervention, God would have passed judgement us a long time ago.

  • Actually there is an order of Lutheran nuns in Germany. The School Sisters of Notre Dame has had a tremendous impact on my life and for that I shall ever be grateful.

  • Ya, that makes perfect sense. Choose a life of devotion and service to G-d and others that impacts every part of your life - and why should one do so? - What was the reason again? Oh ya - something so shallow as a wardrobe choice! As if someone would call up Vocation Central and ask to join so that they wouldn't have to decide what to wear!!! It's insulting!

  • ChrisDaron there are Benedictine and Franciscan nuns in the Anglican Church in England and they give their life to God in the same way as us catholics

  • I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this commercial!

  • LOL that is awesome. And the music is from 'Road to Perdition.' WIN

  • I love all of these commercials. Wear do you find all of these commercials? Do you make them yourself?

  • I love Nuns! They have lots of love in their hearts.<3

  • For my visually impaired friends, I have narrated this clip: *video and music start* You do not know What to wear? *center of screen flashes through a procession of outfits* *screen blanks* 1 of 287 reasons *focuses on the torso of a nun's habit with her holding rosary beads* To become a Nun *scrolls up to nun's neck* The fashion rebels Since about 382 Because style is timeless *film ends on a black screen fade-out*
  • 95k view and 275 likes vs 15 dislikes :) just little faith work wonders

  • @georgiadrew What is sad is being an enemy of truth. To spend your life fighting on the wrong side against the one who created you. To come to the end and realize you fought on the wrong side. That is sad....terribly sad...beyond sad....mislead and confused reasoning of a mind not using its powers to find caritas - deus - God.

  • @georgiadrew

many people waste their entire lives without the God that does exist and the religion that is mighty real. now that's really sad.

I'm sorry, I couldn' help that. But honestly, do remember: if they are not into the real thing, well, w/o God, your atheist life is just as much a sad waste as anyone's.

  • @donjojohannes Lol here i was thinking i was happy, so where do i find god?

i want to experience whatever your experiencing my fellow spacetraveling ape :)

  • @donjojohannes Wow- way to stick it to 'em. An atheist's is as hopeless and lonely as they say ours is- another one of life's great ironies, I'm afraid.

  • @donjojohannes Bold claims. Actually, I'm not wasting my life, because I have my own reasons for living, and I find my own purpose. God isn't real, God is an unfalsifiable hypothesis and 'the religion' is a lie.

My life is nowhere near a waste. I feel emotion, I have purpose, I have reasons to go on living. I'm not some cold mechanical being you imbecile. I just don't base my life on some desert book, and i'm actually enjoying life very much. I think your life is a sad waste.

  • @Hempelsparadox they might be bold claims, but not a tad bolder, than the claims to which they meant to respond verbatim. As to assigning purpose. I do think final causality is grounded in what you are, not what you choose to do, since being precedes acting. If then you have no purpose other than what you assign to yourself, then on the ontological level you have no purpose. I always have to smile when atheists talk of assigning purpose, since what they mean by it is something else entirely

  • @donjojohannes And I always smile when a Christian thinks they have a purpose because they've read it in a book or they've been told it by another person. It's actually a very silly question when you think about it. "What is the purpose of life", just because you can ask a question doesn't mean it deserves an answer, e.g."What is the colour of pride". But since I wasn't "created for a reason", I can still decide on my own reasons for living. I don't need a book to tell me how to live.

  • @Hempelsparadox Since u actually don't know why I hold what I hold I'm surprised you can smile about it. You on the other hand gave me a reason to smile: materialists speaking of choosing their purpose when materialism rejects the very notion of free will. You are not a dualist, my friend, just matter arranged in a particular fashion. There is no choice in what you say or do, just material causation - for matter is all there is. Materialism is a tough philosophy to uphold. Good luck.

  • @donjojohannes You're out of your mind. If I suddenly decide to go watch a video on youtube, that's free will. If I decide that I want to take a walk outside that's free will. I dunno how you can say I reject the idea of it. I don't see how physical matter being the only reality, suddenly means there's no free will. My choices, such as 'go eat chocolate' doesn't come from an algorithm that only has one outcome. They come from physical impulses in my brain. You clearly don't understand this.

  • @Hempelsparadox hilarious. I leave you to study the materialist position, as you seemingly need to read up on it. Hmm, maybe you also believe that thought "emerges" from physical impulses, as Dawkins puts it? Ha ha, whatever "emerges" means in a true materialist sense....you folks are too funny. Hiding your dualism behind serious faces saying monist materialism. Well I have a PhD in this, but come on, at least back up your "materialism" with google before going on to insult people on youtube

  • Comment removed

  • Yes the brain is what we use to make decisions, and is how we are able to think. Our thoughts don't come from some supernatural core. If you had the technology, you could actually see the impulses in a persons head as they think and make decisions. I don't know what you have a phd in, but you clearly didn't pay attention in science.

We actually have early technology to scan the brain, and have an understanding of the brain today. Not that you'd actually care to look at evidence.

  • @Hempelsparadox It seems I cannot communicate the fundamental problem that your position suffers from or you are unable to see it. I do not contest how the brain functions. This is not a "science" question. My points are: 1. monist materialism is incompatible with free will, because its very definition implies only material and no true agent causality. 2. if there is no free will, there is no choice but in appearance > and this leads us to the problem of your first comment.

  • @donjojohannes Free will isn't random, I know that. I can't make truly random decisions, but the decisions I make are still of my own will, whether I have no control over it or not

But you know it really doesn't matter, because you're in the same boat as me. Your decisions are not special because you were told to by a book. You could say the same thing about Allah and it'd make just as much sense.

My life isn't pointless because I can't make random decisions anyway.

  • @Hempelsparadox Agreed. Free will isn't random. I'm a "dualist" (obviously) and while I affirm true freedom, I do not hold that the will acts randomly or arbitrarily - rather it does act for some perceived good (as understood by the rational faculty). However: materialists hold that a choice is nothing but a particular state of material parts being caused by material causes (as there are no other). As for me the dualist. I make rational judgements and act (rationally but freely)

  • @donjojohannes The reason I have my own purposes, is because I get a sense of achievement and satisfaction out of following them. You're obviously not an idiot, But being an atheist doesn't simply mean a pointless existence of suffering. I don't believe in God, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy life, and it doesn't mean I don't do any good in my existence.

I don't believe, But I also don't need God for comfort and happiness. I'm happy as I am.

  • @georgiadrew Catholic nuns do not waste their time. They spend their life devoted to God in serving Him, the creator of all. The catholic church is the only church and faith that has the fullness of the truth. I am proud to call myself a catholic.

  • @cactus319 ,

Absolute rubbish! The catholic cult,of which I used to be a member is based on a pack of lies,power-hungry 'leaders' & the words of a fictional book!

  • @popazz1 that's great you found the truth then do something positive with your new found truth instead of trashing some people's very dearly held beliefs and culture

  • @jesaintlouis ,Sorry,I think you're confusing me with someone who actually gives a damn what you think! It's called having an opinion.Just 'cause it doesn't match your doesn't make it less valid.People like you are always happy deriding those who don't fall for the whole religious hype.Yet when someone like me passes comment you go into a hissy fit.You can't have it both ways.

  • @georgiadrew well put.

  • @georgiadrew true

  • @georgiadrew If, as you claim, there is no God, the nuns have nothing to lose, however if you are wrong, you have EVERYTHING to lose. God bless you. Also how is a life wasted if you have spent it taking care of others?

  • The music of the catholic church s unfailingly beautiful, and if a woman wants to become a nun that is great, but I just don't see why nuns aren't allowed to marry.

  • this is about the funniest thing I've seen today

  • The chant at the end is beautiful

  • notice that the orders who have no habit, or have it optional, are dying, but the orders that still have a habit of some sort or other [ a lapel pin or cross doesn't count ] are still growing. Ad Jesus per Mariam...Viva Christo Rey!

  • I laughed out loud at this one . Where do you get your ideas from

  • That nun is hot..

  • So classic!!!! This is one of my favorite commercials of all time. It should be on for the Superbowl...

  • There are protestant nuns.

  • really !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @alfaandomega1 you really know nothing about nuns or preists do u, so are u say all teacher and all doctors sexual abuse people too

  • Cool ! HAHAHA !!!

  • this is a great commercial! i think it should be on TV

  • @ChaseFowler0192 homosex tv yes it should corrupt more people..poor world

  • @alfaandomega1 You have no idea, do you? I've never been mistreated by any priests, and I know over 300.

And you should know that statistically, you, a layperson, are more likely a child molester than the priest is. Have a nice day.

  • What a horrible life to commit oneself to. A nun or a monk are nothing more than people who choose to drop out of life without becoming homeless, believe me, I have a friend that is became a monk after being a loser in life and my mother will be come a nun when my father dies. Nuns and monks are completely taken care of by the order that they join but only as long as they do, act, think, eat, attend mass, sleep, walk and talk exactly how they are told to. Willing reliegious slaves...Sad.

  • @BloodTar , there are a lot of things in our lives that we cant accept, understand. this is obviously one of things you cant. for a catholic, this life is a journey to fullness with God. Here you freely choose wether you wanna be with Him or not. Those people, chosen by God, are blessed the most. As much as it seemed to you that they are suffering, slaves, they are more free than us, free of chains of this worlds selfish blindness. It is the most beautiful vocation a man full of love can do.

  • @LilyOfTheValley385

You are so brainwashed that it's pathetic. What's even more pathetic is realizing that what you posted, you actually believe. Nowhere in your bible will you find any calling from God being remotely similar to a nun or monks life. The most "beautiful vocation" a man or woman can do is to raise children to be respectful and responsible . . . You remember, it's the first "vocation & calling" God ever gave his creation . . . "be fruitful and multipy", NOT go become nuns.

  • @BloodTar Matt19:12, further supported by 1 Cor 7:8. I would say this falls well in the category of "remotely".

  • @Minxcomix IF THEY LOVE (ABUSE) CHILDREN..BECOME PRIEST

  • @BloodTar actually the nuns I know spend most their time helping the sick, feeding the poor and tending to others less fortunate than themselves. in the ghetto nearby the only life link many have are the nuns who volunteer their time helping them

  • There are Anglican nuns......

  • @chrisdaron and there are buddhist nuns

  • @ ChrisDaron-actually there are Protestant nuns in the Anglican/Episcopalian Tradition. There may even be some Lutheran nuns too, if i'm not mistaken.

  • @GabrielnEU2004 Right, but they're just Protestants. A NUN is fully Roman Catholic. It's like saying that Episcopalians have "priests"... they THINK they do, but a Priest is strictly Roman Catholic. The rest are just "pastors", "preachers" and Lutheran followers.

    I get your point, though

  • I love nuns! May God always bless them :)

  • anglicans nuns

  • "Catholic nun"...

Dude, there are no Protestant nuns! hahaha.

  • @ChrisDaron

well, but there are Orthodox nuns ;-)

  • @donjojohannes Still Catholic, though..

  • @donjojohannes Well, there are also Anglican nuns, and the Roman Catholics like to call the protestant. I guess they are a little of both. depending upon who you ask.

  • @donjojohannes I believe Orthodox are apostolic - not protestant- thus ... there are no protestant nuns or sisters

  • @omGOP3 Regarding that there are no protestant sisters.... To clarify: That's kind of a yes and a no. The vocations of women are unique in that they don't require apostolic succession. Groups of women gathering in prayer can exist outside the Catholic Church, but to a lesser degree than communities united with the Faith. Under normal circumstances their prayers are not as spiritually potent, but let us remember that their pleading is certainly listened upon by Our Lady in turning to her Son.

  • @donjojohannes and buddhist nuns!

  • @ChrisDaron

actually there are Protestant nuns. Episcopalians and Lutherans, among others have monastic vocations for men and women.

  • @ChrisDaron actually.. if you consider Anglicans (including Episcopalians) "protestant" than there are protestant nuns.. because the Anglican Communion has nuns.

  • @willthacheerleader18 The Episcopalian sect is like a liberal Catholic sect. They have "priestesses" and whatever they want. They might have "nuns" but I'm sure they do anything that a nun does.

  • @ChrisDaron yeah, but they are still considered "nuns", it is less common in the Anglican churches of the US, but there are many nuns in the Church of England. They make vows of chastity and do good works and live in a convent. As a catholic, I dont recognize the apostolic succession of the anglicans as valid, but their nuns are still nuns.

  • @willthacheerleader18 I guess. There is also no such thing as "Christian churches", but PROTESTANT SECTS, but it's the way Protestants want to put it, so sure.. heheheh.

  • @ChrisDaron Protestant are still Christian, they are just in error. The Vatican recognizes them as Our Bretheren in Christ. Rome has made agreements with Anglicans, Lutherans, and Methodists, whom are protestant. I was a raised protestant (United Methodist), and I know there are Christians within these churches, but they are not true churches, as only Rome and those in full communion with Rome are.

  • @willthacheerleader18 They are up to a point. Anyone who believes in Christ can be called a "Christian", but not everyone actually is Christ-LIKE. Protestants deny, for instance, the Eucharist, and that, said by Jesus Himself, is what gives us eternal life, paradise. I get your point, though.

  • @ChrisDaron they do not deny the Eucharist.. but transubstantiation. Lutherans beleive in what is called constubstantiation. Lutherans and Anglicans have "mass" every week. Methodists and Presbyterians beleive it is Spiritually imporant and have it every month. It is a Sacrament in Methodism, Presbyterianism, Anglicanism, and Lutheranism. Soem protestants, like the baptists, see it as purely symbolic, and some evangelicals dont even recieve it.

  • @ChrisDaron so many do not deny the Eucharist, but they do not have the true understanding of it

  • @willthacheerleader18 Who does not deny it? (remember that Luther totally erased it, and he began the Protestant reformation)

  • @ChrisDaron most mainline protestant sects, as well as the proclaimed "reformed catholics" still perform the Eucharist and observe it as a Sacrament. However, they do not see it as a true sacrifice. Lutherans still believe it to be the real flesh & blood, but not in the same sense catholics do. Only Catholic & Orthodox Eucharist is valid. :]

  • @ChrisDaron there also Anglican nuns and monks.

  • @ChrisDaron There ARE prostestant nuns!

  • @miggydscho Pseudo nuns. There are also Protestant priests, but that doesn't mean they are REAL priests. Copycats are on the lose... ever since Luther threw his fit.

  • @miggydscho reALLY WHAT A SHAME

  • @ChrisDaron become a lesbian religious girl .... what a beautiful message

  • @alfaandomega1 What a dumb message. Dykes can't be religious, dude.

  • @ChrisDaron and Buddhist Nuns :)

  • @ChrisDaron Actually, there are.

  • @ChrisDaron

    There are also Anglican nuns.

  • @jmkriz And "priestesses" but that doesn't mean they are the real thing.

  • @ChrisDaron Fuck off! Of course there are Protestant Nuns in England, you Cretin.

  • @Feisty1967 You're a faggy Protestant or what?

  • @ChrisDaron The Anglicans have nuns...

  • @cortneighmch Yeah, Protestant nuns.. Protestantism isn't even Christian.

  • @ChrisDaron Protestant is 2 christian.Protestant is baptist ,church of god, church of god in christ, holiness, methodist, lutheran, presbyterian etc. and of course, like myself,Pentecostal. There are 2 branches of christianity -Roman Catholic and Protestant.

  • @sethmoss14 Yah. The Church of Jesus and the sects of Luther.

  • @ChrisDaron Yea,well u know I cant name all of em...lol!

  • @ChrisDaron Yes, there are Protestant Nuns....Anglican/Episcopalian nuns, indeed exist.

  • @NativeNewYorkGuy They do, yes. But they're still Protestant. They follow whoever founded those sects.

  • @ChrisDaron

    yes there are, Anglican nuns!

  • @alisaquilae40 Judged to what I read, people are retarded here...

  • @ChrisDaron Yes, there are. The Episcopalians have nuns.

  • @polymorphously Episco what?

  • @ChrisDaron Actually, I THINK there are Episcopalian nuns or something...

  • @ChrisDaron Yeah, this is true. The protestants always only wanted a tiny piece of the pie. Catholics want the whole truth - the whole pie.

  • @Jcilt Actually Catholics don't "want" the whole truth... they HAVE it.

  • @ChrisDaron True :)

  • @ChrisDaron Bullshit, catholic truth is no more valid then the "Muslim" truth.

  • @AtomicDonut22 Right... first a bad word.... obviously said by a person who believes in a violent man named "Mohammed" who raped and killed... No wonder you guys have that stereotype of being terrorists...

    That's your crooked truth.

  • @ChrisDaron The bible has made an accepted idea that as long as you say "You're sorry" you CAN get away with rape and murder. I don't believe in mu hammed, but I'm just saying that your religion is just as bad as the Muslim one. And what do you know about the Muslim religion? They never raped or killed in the Koran.

  • @AtomicDonut22 That's stupid. You clearly don't know the Bible. The Koran is crap, dude. Your religion is based on evil, so.. you lose. Sorry. Go bomb someone else.

  • @ChrisDaron I've read the bible, I was raised on the bible, the bible is full of evil, well, what you would call evil, I call it neutral bullshit.

  • @ChrisDaron Please don't categorize an entire group of people as evil. Have you read the Koran? if not please do, and then voice your comments. I have not read it, as I am Catholic, and I have no desire to, therefore I will not categorize it.

  • @richie60647 Well, people who follow a religion based on violence aren't exactly saints... I am not interesting in reading a book about violence. You don;t categorize it... I will.

  • @ChrisDaron they dont have anything, they are a trick

  • @ChrisDaron ,

There are non-catholic nuns in the UK,they are Church of England sisters!

  • What's the music? It's very lovely.

  • which latin chant is that? And who is it sung by?

  • You could just as well become a muslim women in Saudi Arabia, their "style" is also timelss and their religion is also senseless.

  • I'll become a catholic when their priests stop sodomising little boys which means ... um ... let's see ... NEVER!!!!

  • Name one career that has never had any type of sexual harassment in it, and never will. NAME ONE.

  • @TomQuoVadis: Lighthousekeeper?

  • Perhaps, but that's not the point. And I think a lonely man like that would be MORE prone to sexual abuse. The point is, people make mistakes, and the percentage of priests who commit sexual abuse is small, and pales in comparison to that of other professions, such as school teachers. Priests are simply targeted because everyone loves to target Catholics, and if they can create a stereotype, so much the better.

  • @TomQuoVadis: That was a tounge in cheek comment.

I seriously doubt it that teachers are more likely to sexually abuse children than priests. The lack of references to substantiate your claim makes me believe that you are rumourmongering.

Believe me, I attack other faiths with the same enthusiasm but at the appropriate videos. Fact is, your church has been caught with its pants down. That was bad enough but then from the highest levels came a cover up. That is disgusting.

  • Atheists always ask me for statistics, but never provide them themselves. They also claim to be more tolerant than us, but try to stereotype Christians all the same. But since only hard numbers will convince you, here they are: 14% of teachers in America commit acts of sexual abuse. One such case happened in my local school. 1.3% of ordained priests are involved in sexual abuse scandals. Also, the Pope reprimanded those people. He said "I'm ashamed to be in the same Church as you."

  • @TomQuoVadis: Thanks for the info. I shall check it but since I don't have any refernces it may take a while.

  • @Brommear

The statistics were a sociological study done at a Public University. I apologize for not having the exact reference, but we studied it last semester.

  • Love this add!

    God Bless

  • By that logic, Martin Luther King Jr. was an agent of Satan.

  • @TomQuoVadis elaborate for me i am genuinely curious

  • @TomQuoVadis oh

by the way i was not the one who spammed your comment

  • I wasn't even aware it was spammed, ever since I was switched to the new Youtube format.

  • You know, all those "Satan" fanboys are just losers. If you really want to oppose the religion, be a god damned atheist. You're saying you believe in the religion by supporting satan, and most of the people who do are just tools.

  • wher'ed u find the chant album for this

  • Aww, come on! She should have worn a wimple!

  • funniest!!!

  • According to Jimmy Akin: "In principle, a layman can be elected pope. Canon law requires that if the person elected pope is not yet a bishop that he be consecrated a bishop immediately, upon which he becomes pope (him having already accepted his election to the papacy prior to being consecrated a bishop).

The odds of this happening are about three billion to one."

I'm not sure where he figured his odds out, but other then that, he's a pretty trustworthy source.

  • Actually Minx that's no longer true. John Paul the Great closed that hole in an encyclical updating the rules on papal elections.

  • i like the habits of nuns

i think nuns should wear their habits i don't like to see a nun without a habit it's part of tradition if i were a nun i would wear the habit all the time

  • That is not at all the reason I'm becoming a nun, but I must say that I'm really looking forward to not having to choose what to wear every day.

    JMJ+

  • @GilChrist77

"not having to choose" is exactly the kind of life you will live as a nun.

Question: . . . How many decisions will you make for yourself after becoming a nun?Answer: . . . nun.

  • @BloodTar answer: lesbian cover up...sad ..really sad..priest = sexual abuser...sad/..pope multimillionaire corporation,,,keep abusers safe

  • @GilChrist77 you become a nun because you love God and become his bride, the habit is the wedding gown! ;3

  • love it, they should make one for Brothers.!!!

  • Few questions guys hope somebody can answer?

When can they take that dress off ?

    Can they get married?

Can a nun have a baby?

and finally what about pope. Is he allowed to get married ?

  • 1. going to bed, bathing, going to the pool etc.

    2. No, they get married to the Church.

    3. Yes it is possible, but it's against the rules, she has spiritual children though, praying for the entire world.

    4. No, all clergy except deacons are married only to the Church.

  • They can take the habit ("that dress") of at any time. However, depending on the order, there may be certain regulations on when it must be worn

Women who have chosen to answer the call to become a nun or a sister can only get married after leaving the convent and getting special dispensation in response to the vows they had made

A nun as a woman is capable of bearing children. However her choice to make a vow of celibacy makes pregnancy unlikely

not enough room to answer pope que, see below

  • Popes can marry

    yup, you heard me right.

However ordained priests are not allowed to marry at this time in Church history (tho some married protestant pastor converts have been allowed to be ordained as priests, so there are some married priests),so if the pope is an ordained priest, then he cannot marry. But not because he is pope, but because as a priest he took the vow of celibacy.

As for the pope, he can be any Catholic man. It's just unlikely that a layman would be voted in as pope.

  • That is not true, the pope must be a single Catholic man in order to accept the papacy. He doesn't have to be a priest but he must be single.

  • It's impossible for a pope to be married, because in order to become a pope, you must first be a cardinal, but before you become a cardinal, you must be an archbishop, but before you become an archbishop you must become a bishop, but before you become a bishop you must be a priest.

And priests take a vow of celibacy. From what source did you formulate this opinion that popes can marry? I'm genuinely curious.

  • Actually, technically any baptized male Catholic can be elected pope - he does not have to be a Cardinal, or even a priest, first.

  • chelsea, does the man need to be single tho like GilChrist mentioned? My first thought is that that info is not accurate since I've not ever heard that requirement when the astounding fact that any Catholic man could be pope was ever mentioned.

It really doesn't seem right to me especially considering Peter was married.
