Some of the bosses are actually pretty tough, even IF you're experienced with RPGs, in particular the Crystal Guardians: Bone Dragon hits pretty hard considering your HP at the time, Ice Golem as well. Dont remember the Fire Crystal Guardian, but Pasuzu's Pscyshield can screw you if you're unsure of what it does at first.

Did you know that if you equip the claw (Cat Claw, Dream Claw, or Dragon Claw), your spells have increased damage (it feels that way to me). In my experience, White and Flare have done the most damage, and if you use Heal when he's in the last form (Tentacle spider thing) one heal from the hero ends it (I swear, it did like 23000+ damage >_>)

Good to see people loving this gem. It's not a bad game, but people still believe the critics. I think if this game didn't have the Final Fantasy brand name on it, people wouldn't hate on it. In my opinion, it stands with the great games that are Final Fantasy IV, V, and VI. I got it for four dollars and I got about $50 worth out of the game. Hooray for consumer surplus!

If you want a real challenge for this guy just attack him with normal weapons and have Phoebe on Auto. I tried it a few times and he tends to get more critical strikes when the battle drags on (especially in spider mode). Twice trying that I was wiped by his Lazer and Mega White/Flare attacks.

If i remember rightly , if you used the Cure spell on the Dark King it actually harmed him. I think you can kill him in a few turns with Cure

Yeah just a few hits from cure from the hero will kill the Dark King. Another easy kill was the minataur in the beginning of the game, just have the girl cast life on it and it dies. And then the second time you have to fight the T-Rex thing just use Dragon Claw on it and it dies in one hit.

It's not the worst out there, but not the best. The game was made to be easy, and to introduce simple RPG elements to the crowd. While people may bash it as much as they wished, it was a very unique game. Sure, the battle mechanics could've been better. But Mystic Quest has one of the most kickass soundtracks out there.

I've had this game for almost ever, and I still love it the best. I remember the first time I fought the Dark King (without petrification protection). I learned that if he petrifies one of your party members, you have to use the spell instead of the item, or he gets the other one.

I'm not so certain if the "cure" spell trick was a glitch. It was a gamble for me because one time I cast it and it did 15K in damage, then casting it a second time, it healed Dark King for a whopping 30K. It was do that irregularly too.

If you equip the claw, your magic will be more powerful. Cycle through your weapons and check your stats for a comparison. Equipping your sword gives you more speed. Just in case you didn't know. :)
