• to emw05 wrong wron wrong. I served in the military for over seven years and also served as a Salvation Army Office for 13 1/2 years before retiring. I sang with the Salvation Army as well as played in the band. I was born American and will never give up my right to be patrotic. get your fact right, or keep your mouth shut

  • @clownmanable

excuse me??! keep my mouth shut when I have the God given right not to and keep it shut when this is my own video?! Rpiercy wrote that those in the video weren't even real military and all I said what since when have only people in the military been allowed to sing the national anthem?

  • Goose bumps abound.

  • I always forget how awesome of a singer Doug really is. And to think I've known him for most of my life...=)

  • My father plays Tuba with Motor City Brass Band... By the way, he was US Navy officer. salute him you bastards. - You can bash Salvation Army all you want, but their band is fantastic and their contributions to the world as an organization over the past 100+ years has been significant. Don't let the recent bad press make you think they are all corrupt. Let not forget this was a concert, not a political debate.

  • Absolutely! And a fine concert it was.

  • Amen! G*D Bless you, your dear father and the work of the Salvation Army- "Doing the Most Good".

Salvation Army is the only charity I am truly confident in and give regularly, generously and happy about every check I write.

  • When one considers the financial contributions by the public specifically given to help poor people, which are ultimately used for the SA Christian cult activities, band music entities and beautiful homes/cars/travel, etc., it becomes abundantly clear that the words, "racketeering" & "wrongdoing" become a central part of the descriptive scenario.

  • Put your money where your mouth is. How about backing up your words with some real data. And who lives in a $250,000 house? And where is such a house? If you're going to answer some place like Chicago, that's plausible because property values are through the roof. But if you think there's a Salvation Army officer living in a $250,000 home in a city like Monroe, Michigan, you're out of your mind!

  • So let's see the REAL data. Otherwise, you will continue to look really ignorant here--even if you are anonymous.

Bottom line: Someone simply wanted to share a nice, patriotic musical selection on YouTube, and you had to make it political with a bunch of bloated, unfounded statements. You're entitled to your opinion, but there's a time and place for everything. Your soapbox in this particular venue isn't appropriate, nor is it necessary.

  • Thanks... Let not forget this was a concert, not a political debate.

  • Black people have never received their fair share of the billions of dollars the SA takes in annually. Do the poor black women who sort soiled clothing at the SA stores enjoy luxurious quarter million dollar housing, do they have the same health benefits as all those uniformed colonels & band players shown in this YouTube video; what about free autos and education assistance like a white trombone player receives???

  • Always the victim... Must be because I'm black, not my crappy attitude. By the way, I'm a trombone play who happens to be white. No the other way around. Douch bag.

  • In addition; note all the WHITE folks.

  • You ignorant sack. You sound like an ex-Salvation Army type. Why bring race into this nonsense? I support our troops and applaud this group for selecting a patiotic song to perform--especially in the times we're living in.

  • I agree with you. But having said that - SA types especially during WWII and also the Korean War, avoided service, big time. Going into the SA training schools. Having observed the organization for many years, it is my fixed and unmoveable belief that the SA is full of bogus & fraud.

  • Pathetic! Especially when one considers that these folks have not served in the military. The Good Public Giver supports and pays for their religious cult activities. What a huge scam!

  • Since when did you have to be in the military to sing the national anthem??

  • You're a loser.
