@Onegative82 His use of "like" is way past the point of being annoying. He's picked this up from stupid English speakers, not "typical" English speakers. Too bad because he's clearly not stupid. His English is otherwise excellent.
@colt553 Well, I'm a linguist and I've spent a lot of time studying other languages. What I've learned is that language is constantly evolving. English speakers aren't the only people who use filler words such as "like" when speaking. For example, there are Spanish speakers from Argentina who use "che" in the same way that English speakers use "like". It doesn't make the speaker stupid. Think of it like a dialect.
As I said, it's clear he's NOT stupid. But people who communicate at a high level and command respect don't speak that way. Can you imagine anyone who wants to be taken seriously -- doctors, lawyers or political leaders using that style? Well, maybe Sarah Palin, but even she mostly avoids it. I'm not trying to be picky - it's just that it sends a message to people (correct or not) about your level of intelligence. The more you use it, the more you sound like an airhead.
Nice english and barely a german accent. I still have quite a hard german accent.
Subway in Germany its stingy, compared to the US one, where you can choose all sort of toppings for no extra charge. But in Germany, every extra topping cost extra and is counted to the tiniest bit.
German Schools is the primary school ( 1 - 4 ) than comes elementary school ( 5-10 ) and than you can choose College and other education.
From which city does Markus come from in Germany. Def not Bavaria / Austria?!
I went to France in August, and I wish it could have been Germany! I am taking German classes right now and I lived in germany for quite a few years. I miss it :(
Like in the USA the different german states (bundesländer) have a lot of autonomie this becomes apparent in the educational systhem which is different in each state.

well I am german and i have seen a lot of big cars like SUVs here. Given PickUpTrucks and Hummers are rather rare over here. Public Transport is really good here in Germany. Great video Brick und guten tag Markus :)
@bricwashere well im guessing markus is from south germany?! cause my school systems different even if its just one little fact that changes it :P and i think ive had other experiences and dont really feel the way he does about america
hey you should think of q's to ask us both and record markus answering them & i could do that too so youd kinda be able to see the differences between south & north germany & "american experiences" xD
I love videos like this. The world is so much smaller because of experiences like this. In the end, people are people. I would have loved to have overheard the conversation when Markus' parents found out he was going to live with a Bric in Ah-MERca.
He says "like" and "and stuff" a lot, just like a typical English speaker. Very good.
