@ementormike That's because Sheryl Crow has alot more experience musically and she knows that the duet would sound better if Sarah's Vocals weren't over powering Sheryl's voice. I love Sarah but she has a very clear strong voice and it sometimes seems as though she tries to showcase her voice and overpower her duet artists kind of like Celine Dion did with Barbara Streisand that one time.

several years ago, just before Christmas, a friend took her own life. at her memorial i tried to recite the lyrics to this song with a slight modification of the "wreckage" reference due to the circustances of her passing. i could not get through the recital without a deep tearing up and pauses. this song and Ms. McLachlan's singing have the power to stop a listener in their tracks many times over. it continues to do that for and to me.
I was front row center for this concert in Central Park, it was the best concert I've ever seen and by far this was the most moving part everyone around me was linking arms and crying it was beautiful!

About the "microphone pulling" thing... At first that's what I thought it was too since it looked like Sheryl Crow was just moving it to be funny and it came off as annoying. But if you watch closely, that wasn't the case. The microphone wouldn't stay up, so Sheryl Crow was holding it up for her.

This beautiful song attracts the best performers! I like all the musicians that McLachlan has paired with, but this is my favorite version of the song.
The mic keeps on moving because Sheryl Crow keeps moving it as a "gag" on Sarah. Watch closely, you can see views where she's got her hand on the "arm" of the mic.
I like this, not just because of the good singing. It's the little quirky things like a mic that won't stay in one spot, or a guitar string breaking, that makes a show that much more entertaining to go to. A show going completely perfect is fun, but it's more fun when something goes wrong.

Sarah is an amazing musician/singer. Cheryl Crow is a first class schlockmeister she can't stay in key with Sarah. Crow is at best, an adequate cover musician. Just because she's a pretty gal she's become this major superstar and know she's just a corporate sell out doing commercials and such.

Sheryl Crow (yes with an S) is an incredible songwriter and musician (including piano, bass guitar, guitar, hammond, harmonica, accordeon..). She won tons of grammies before she even started recording some covers (actually only The first cut is the deepest and Sweet child of mine). So please if you don't like her don look for stupid excuses to diss her work.

I like this, not just because of the good singing. It's the little quirky things like a mic that won't stay in one spot, or a guitar string breaking, that makes a show that much more entertaining to go to. A show going completely perfect is fun, but it's more fun when something goes wrong.
