  • Turns out it may be these very same flies killing our honey bees, good job introducing them!

  • Skull fucking on a new level.

  • Fire ants deserve this! where can we buy these flies?

  • 240p, we meet again.

  • wikid this. apparently the larvae eat the ant brains and the ants just wander around mindlessly for 2 weeks.

wiki also said these flies have caused myiasis in humans too. rut roh!

  • Once the fire ants are gone the flies will move to humans think thats what's gonna happen grab your knife and bug spray we're moving out

  • this is sighns of zombies

  • i hate you flies

  • I wonder if these flies inspired the Alien films.

  • @Steve10578 they did actually. good guess ;)

  • And if one of those attack us?

    There will be giant flies?

    :D

  • omg there just ant's, is introducing a new species really necessary ??

  • @slim77k Yep, Fire ants are terrible creatures.

  • @slim77k clearly you've never experienced the trouble of a fire ant colony. learn yourself something before posting ignorant shit

  • @dannyboy785 ok yea but most of the time introducing a new species dosent always work out for the best. and if you know there dangerous stay the fuck away from them. it's like poking a rattle snake with a stick. use your head your Danny lol

  • @slim77k they'll destroy shit even if you don't mess with them

  • @aracaen It is true that some phorid species, especially in the hyper-diverse genus Megaselia, has been reported to do so. However, the phorids that are used in fire ant control - Pseudacteon curvatus - have never been recorded breeding outside of ants.

  • These flies are not likely to become a pest themselves - this particular species of fly only eats fire ants. Of course, there is the possibility that they start attacking native (and beneficial) ant species, but it is somewhat unlikely.

  • @Brunostmannen occasionally they will lay a mggot in an open sore

  • MUTALISK RUSH!!!!!

  • they should kill these fuking flies

  • wow flies actually benifit society

  • Thank God I live in upstate Missouri where these bastards haven't gotten thick (yet). I had a run in with a colony when I lived in Texas, though. Had to go to the hospital. Kill the fuckers.

  • LIKE A ZOMBIE AIRFORCE

    rofl.

  • I'd Take flies over fire ants anyday

  • pwned

  • Man If I were to be reincarnated I would want to be a fly

  • Rofl? You would want to die in a few days? Best to be reincarnated as something that lives hundreds of years like a sea turtle or some crap. Some crap at the bottom of the ocean that lives 10 thousand years lmfao. We still don't know whats even in the deepest parts of the ocean.

  • First Things First: There Is NO Such thing of Reincarnation.

  • Key word is IF, you're the one who said it are you retarded?

  • 1:35 Ant got speared off the cliff

  • awesome awesome video!!

thanks for posting this video man

  • lol wat will happen if it eats your brain

  • holy shit. thats both scary and awesome!

but now wont there be a shitload of flies everywhere?

  • @evilpanda101

We'll just get pigeons to eat the flies, lizards to eat the pigeons, Chinese needle snakes to eat the lizards, and gorillas to eat the snakes. Then when winter comes all the gorillas will freeze.

  • @evilpanda101 no since th flies only attack fire ants and are ridiculously small after the fire ants die the entire thing of flies will just die or find a new fire ant colony

  • @evilpanda101 no, its says they die with in days, so they will only be around fire ant mounds, also we have plenty of predators that eat flies.

  • @evilpanda101

Not if there aren't any fire ants around.

  • WTF!??!?! So its the weapon NATURE uses to cantrol the terrible fireant?

In other words its what idiot humans introduced to a new inviroment to kill animals that are making them loose money...

Stupid rednecks! Havent people learned - you cant introduce a new spiecies to an invironment that is not had it before - it messes up the balance!

  • lol what balance? fire ants came from south america. the same thing ben happening there forever with the flies and ants.

  • You're both correct. While the fire ants are indeed an invasive species, adding another one doesn't necessarily solve the problem without opening a whole new can of worms. This happened once before where wolves were relocated to help keep deer under control long ago but ended up becoming a pest problem for farmers.

While the Phorid does specifically attack that ant, no species can truly be introduced without some effect, minor or major, on the ecosystem. There's always a possibility for error.

  • thank you for actually pointing out both sides, though i feel that pitting one species against another may have unforeseen consequences- i also feel that it is much less invasive than to introduce a manmade control

  • Oh absolutely, I'd much rather have an animal's natural predator control them rather than poisonous chemicals but a lot of research needs to be done before making these kinds of decisions. I hope they know what they're doing.

  • nature has a way of balancing things out. in south america, fire ant populations were kept under control by phorid flies, both being native to that area. what happened is that we accidentally brought the ants, but not the flies, hence the ant populations spiraling out of control.

yes, research always has to be done about these things, because nature's balance is very delicate, but i'm pretty sure this is a much better solution than pesticides and flame-throwers.

  • omfg- stfu

  • Shut your little cunt!

Yes - fire ants are an invasive spiecies! But they are spreading naturaly! Yet the flies are human-brought!

  • 105 km you have NO IDEA about what humans do........HUMANS use alot of insects as a natural "incesticide" for many years now.

For example, in California there used to be a lot of cotton scale insects that infested our limes and lemmons. It caused major losses; BILLIONS of dollars in lemons and limes alone. So what did we do? We brought lady bird insects to eat these cotton scales.

This is the reason why we see alot of lady bird insects in California

  • Asshole! the ants were brought here from fricken brazil! what you think they came across the border like a horde of mexicans?

$%^& the ants! I say go fly go! kill em all! kill em and eat boys!

was I the only one who watched this video and laughed maniacally at the ants terror?

  • very mature-

    fail.

oh, and 'human-brought'? what are you, 12?

  • "Invasive species" implies that they're not here naturally. If they had migrated here naturally, then their natural predators would have migrated here naturally as well. Red fire ants most likely came via cargo ships going from South America to the U.S.

  • I don't understand english speaking enought to understand everything: This flies can control ants?

  • Show no mercy to the fire ant -- I have the scars to prove it.

  • @trevb38 FREEEEEEEEEEEEDOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMM!!!

  • that is great! the ants die off by not foraging is what i understand?

  • DESTROYED!!!!

  • Amazing...! We need these flies in USA to control the spread of Fire Ants...

  • bam lol.. watched this vidoe on tv :)

  • thats amazing

  • what a crappy life for a fly lol
