  • VERY HELPFUL!!! I learned it in like looking at the tabs for the 2nd time ;D Thx :)

  • Uff it was so hard to learn this song til i Look at this video

  • Um....hard!! :D you were awesome, though. (:

  • @ PDXguitarfreak Just wanted to say thanks man, I am dyslexic and you made it easy, much appreciated

  • Thanks! i really wanted to learn this song! keep rocking! lml

  • Je Thumbs up pour tes cheveux , ET pour ton talent :)

  • Awesome video man, you're a great teacher!!

  • Love ur guitar bro

  • my friends got a prs like that their great guitars i wish i had one. QUESTION: if i had the choice between a prs like that and a gibbson SG which should i choose.

  • @pophaterrocklover43 ... Price is a huge factor - A standard SG costs around $1000, a standard Custom 24 (not the SE model) costs around $2600-3000. Both have set-in necks as opposed to bolted on necks (better IMO for sustain), both have two humbucking pickups. I prefer the PRS for a few reasons more versatile use of pickups (5 way switch, instead of 3); beautiful to look at (love the carved and flamed top and bird inlays); tremolo bar; locking tuners; generally more attention to detail.

  • @pophaterrocklover43 ... part two (I ran out of space)... I wouldn't dismiss the SG as an option. I think the Standard SG is a fantastic value, and much better geared for people that can't justify spending almost $3k on a guitar. Both guitars play very nicely. Obviously Les Pauls and Strats are the most popular, but the SG is definitely one of the most iconic classic rock guitars, thanks in part to Angus Young (Eric Clapton played one in Cream too). Rock on and good luck! :)

  • N'aurais-tu pas la même guitare que Mark Knopfler ?

  • @Mmmmmhful .... Pas... la guitare que vous décrivez est appelée Pensa

  • You should have your file named PRSguitarfreak. That is a nice guitar man.

  • @Warrant2rocK ... yeah that would have been a good one. My original YouTube channel was PDXguitarlegend, which was just a stupid name that I came up with quickly. … PDX is the airport code for Portland, Oregon, and a lot of people who live here call the city simply PDX. I didn’t think I would post more than one video… but it took off. Then my channel got shut down, and I reopened it as PDXguitarfreak, so people could easily find me. I should have changed it at that point in time LOL.

  • @PDXguitarfreak Ohh I see. I always wanted a nice PRS like yours but there always so damn expensive. The lower end models don't look as cool as the higher end ones. Does that have a bolt-on or a set neck? I always play my on SGs. I like them because they are light, slim, and they sound great. Funny thing is, I rarely play any of my other guitars that I have rebuilt and customized. Nothing compares to a Gibson/Epiphone to me....maybe Kramer lol

  • @Warrant2rocK ... This model is the Custom 24, which is the core of the PRS line since the 80s. They typically run around $2500-3000, depending on the top, and yes it has a set neck... the lower end models are typically bolt-on. I understand your infinity for the Gibsons... to me the PRS is very reminiscent in feel of an SG in many many ways. Rock on!

  • Nice hair...

  • @JAVALOS0007 ...thanks, it's sexy, I know

  • when i first saw the thumbnail...it looked like a girls ass showing

  • @FaTaLx951 LOL dude that is what I call wishful thinking :)

  • Hey.. Rly nice ;) I would like to know AMP settings.. Can you plz sent me? ..

  • How do you get a good tone for this song? because my tone sounds too metal... When I play the intro it doesn't sound natural... Great lesson by the way!!!

  • Comment removed

  • thx a lot from uruguay, u rock!!!

  • great fuckin job man! thanks!!

  • I AM # 50,000 WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!

  • haha, bending that 20th fret on the top string broke the string

  • Great vid. It sounds to me like the last note in guitar part 1 is an E, not a D as shown in the TAB. I can't pick out how you play it though - on the 17th of the G string maybe?

  • @nwrob1 ..hey man, I'm not sure we are looking at the same spot. Pause the video at ~1:02-1:03, and the last note shown in the tab is an E note (14th fret of D string). Is that the note you are talking about?

  • @PDXguitarfreak - My bad; I shouldn't have said "guitar part 1". Go to 5:44; isn't that last note, 19 on the G, a D when it should be an E? I could be screwing something up, but it doesn't sound right when I play it there! Thanks!

  • Thanks for posting this !!! Great lesson !! Awesome tone as always !!

  • hey thanks, i use this to train the rythm guitar

  • @fatboy240 - wow you are the first person to notice! :) I'm playing the same note (bent G up to A), I'm just playing it on the B string instead. That is really funny because I never noticed before. I will add a caption to the video to explain. Rock on!

  • @PDXguitarfreak Hey man what is it that you use to make your guitar to sound like that i've been looking for that pitch for a long time it would be awesome if you could tell me. thanks XD

  • @brother8016 hey thanks again! I explain my setup on my main channel page. Basically, in addition to the JSX amp's built-in distortion, I use a little bit of chorus (slow rate, only to fatten it), and I boosted the mids centering at around 1k frequency with a rack mount EQ. I love doing that sort of mid boost for solos - I find it really helps the notes pop out :)

  • grcias cabron me sirvio un chingo ademas esta chida attentamente metalnezayork desde mexico

  • wow deff one of the best instructional on youtube great job thanks alot helpd me ato.. your the fuckin man

  • muito legal

  • wow. i wasn't aware of programs that were able to do things like that. i thought YouTube had the options of doing things like wut u did with the tab. what else will your program do?

  • @believin13 ...I should clarify - tabs were created in program called Power Tab Editor - you can download for free at Download . com. I then copy an image of the screen (using ctrl+Print Scrn buttons) and then paste into Paintbrush to make JPEG image of the tabs. I then use Sony Vegas to do all the video mixing. To check out what Sony Vegas is capable of, see my newer videos. I'll be posting another Sony Vegas lesson this weekend... how to do the green screen special effects in the background :)

  • pretty dam good man. say, how were you able to get the tab on the screen?

  • @believin13 I use a program to edit my videos called Sony Vegas Movie Studio. The version I have runs for around $100 USD. It's awesome!

  • Thanks. I subbed. I learned the first part form tabs, but I didnt get the part that starts at the 17th fret. now I do.

  • thanks it helped a lot

  • do you take requests for solo lessons?

  • @RofICopters I don't do many lessons... usually because I don't play a lot of stuff perfectly note-for-note... I tend to improvise at least parts of each solo, as I find that more fun. :)

  • @PDXguitarfreak meh that doesn't matter to me. All I want is for it to sound really close so i can start playing songs all the way through. If there's any chance you could do the "I Believe In a Thing Called Love" second and third solo's, I would really appreciate it.

  • @PDXguitarfreak BTW your videos are amazing. Me and couple of my fraternity brothers can play this song now.

  • Nice Jobe dude i like your Work ! is so nice Thank's you men

  • when i heard this vid i was all like i cant do that but thanks to your vid i did thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wher did u get the backing track

  • @MrNatrocks I don't remember - try the following sites: guitarbackingtrack, freshbt, guitarbt - those are the only sites I get backing tracks from

  • 7 guitarhero-fags

  • Thanks alot, you're videos are awesome! This solo is amazing!

  • sick bro keep rockin!

  • nice prs custom 24!!!

  • could somebody tell me what it means when the numbers are in parenthesis? ive never been able to figure that out

  • @rebelrocker383 it's called a ghost note... you don't really pick that note, but it sounds out because you have already picked it.. I hope that makes sense - I know it's kind of hard to explain properly

  • Nice...you sound awesome and the lesson is VERY DETAILED! Keep on Rocking!

  • Nice!! How did you edit your video...add the tabs?

  • thx man

    you are rock

  • thnx for the lesson man

  • Nice lesson. Looks like you had a lot of fun playing that at the beginning.

  • awesome teacher

  • hey man! First off AMAZING!! your a VERY VERY good guitarist! Second THANKS alot for helping me! it helped alot! and third i was wondering about some setting to get a tone similiar to this!!?? i can tell there is some reverb, but about how much gain, terrible, mid and bass??? i have a marshall JVM410H! thanks man!!!!

  • @Blink182PunkRocker a little delay too and a little chorus. As for settings, I usually keep treble around 7, bass around 5 or 6, and mids around 4. However, I also use a separate EQ unit to boost the mids at around the 1k frequency by about 12db

  • @PDXguitarfreak ok great! i always have my bass at absolute zero :/ because when i strum it is just so bassy!??

  • dude perfect but how do you get that affect i cant get it close on my guitar

  • @Satan2930 a little bit of reverb, delay, and chorus (distortion is from the amp)

  • i cant play anything fucking shit guitar : (

  • pretty good dude!

  • @pdxguitarfreak which tab program should I get from download . com? Like, what's it called?

  • @imoveatparaderest - it's called PowerTab Editor... and you can find lots of Power Tabs on ultimate-guitar website. Rock on brother

  • @PDXguitarfreak Thanks dude!

  • @imoveatparaderest i recommend guitar pro dude ;)

  • @ElizabethLPfan Thanks for the nice words! :)

  • well done...

  • @estinky Thanks!

  • Hey question though, I've been playing for about 16 months now so the 3rd section is rough for me....how long until you got really good at pull offs at crazy speeds? lol

  • @gormanbc hmmm... I was not very good at leads for a few years because I started out playing mainly rhythm... but I have seen guys who play for 2 years able to do stuff like that easily - it's most important to put in the time

  • I don't say this very often but NICE VIDEO!!

  • @gormanbc Thanks!

  • yo this lesson is so helpful dude thanks

  • @boxofcoco80 you are welcome

  • dude sick totally usin that at my next show what kind of guitar is that

  • @EMasterEEE Thanks!

  • can you make a vid for the ending of the song? it sounds impossible to learn by ear and i cant find any vids or tabs for it

  • @FatalFeedGod I use the Powertab tablature which can be found at the ultimate-guitar website. The Powertab software can be downloaded free at Download . com

  • what gauge string you use here? bending 2 full steps on my setup would be near impossible. awesome vid man!

  • @murphy060681 LOL I'm using 9's - very good for big bends :)

  • dude thats helpful but im still a little slow on the ending and section 3. Any tips on those parts?

  • @FatalFeedGod hi there, I guess I forgot to answer this. I'm not sure what tips I have other than to take your time and perhaps try using Windows Media Player to slow down the song when practicing. Go to Enhancements --> Play Speed Settings.

  • rock on dude niice vid urs was better than jabs n shenker's lmao!!!!

  • LOL wow thanks for the nice comment!

  • please tell me thats a wig your wearing.

none the less a great lesson. thanks guy.

  • LOL, you like my hair? It was very expensive surgery ;)

  • Amazing teacher Learnt all of it in less than 30 mins thanks

  • Cool - glad you liked it!

  • Awesome. The hardest part is the ending. I really need to practice it.

  • Thanks! :)

  • What's the first part of section 3? :| i can't read it

  • The first part of section 3 starts with sliding up to the 17th fret of the G string, the next note is 17th fret of B string, and the note after that is the 20th fret of B string... does that help?

  • @PDXguitarfreak Thanks so much, Now all i have to learn is that ending shred part xD

  • where did u get the backtrack? i like that it have the rhytm guitar behind.

  • I am sorry, I do not remember. There are a few websites that I like:

  • Glad you liked it!

  • very good viedeo man

and nice backtrack where did you get it?

  • cara perfeito parabens mesmo parabens bom trabalho cara perfect awesome

  • Thanks!

  • dude i admire your guitar playing so much! how get your amp to sound like that!!? what are your amp settings, and also im buying a ibanez RGT42DX would that be a good guitar for solos and whammy stuff like were not gonna take it?? thanks!

  • Yeah man, that guitar will rock! As for the amp settings, most amps will sound different, even with the same settings. I recommend staring with the tone knobs set on 5 and than move them around (starting with Middle first, then bass, then treble) until you find what works for you. Having a reverb or delay pedal will also help with this kind of sound you are hearing. :)

  • @PDXguitarfreak of great!! thanks alot man i really appreciate alot! keep rocking man!!

  • o yea love the "hair"

  • very good job man i learned this so fast after ur lesson

  • this was the best lesson of my life. also can you please thee me what affects you used? thanx

  • Thanks man. The distortion is from the amp. I also used a little bit of chorus (very subtle, not a lot), and then also some reverb and delay (which are both used to create a tiny bit of echo on it).

  • que pedalera lleva eso?

  • Hola! Mi español no es bueno :) Tengo que utilizar la computadora para traduzco. La distorsión es del amp. Los pedales son reverb, delay, chorus.

  • El efecto del chorus es muy sutil, y no mucho

  • Sounds exactly the same as the original

  • Thanks man - and thanks for subscribing! :)

  • yeah please do one on still loving you

  • I love that song too... maybe some day I can :)

  • Maybe some day :)

  • what are the chords in the background?

  • They are pretty simple Am F G, and also Em.

  • Thanks

  • I think there is a mistake around the 6:30 mark. I'm playing along note for note and it's not jiving in that last bar

  • Sorry man, I'm not sure what is missing. Let me know if I can try to answer again.

  • Very helpful. Thanks a lot!

  • after this tutorial i dont fell my fucking fingers jaja but is a great song, great video ,thanks man

  • Lmfao nice hahaha

  • Great Lesson

I got the same PRS Custom 22 but with the different pickups

  • genius

  • Very good teaching...in separate parts and slow motion. That's waht we like. I' going to try it this summer. Thanks!

  • this is the coolest way for someone to give lessons. just recently found your "new" account im glad your back

  • haha i love the intro

  • is there any chance u can do the whole song again?? wit the backing track of course.

i miss listening to the video when u did it :(

  • Thank you very much. you made it very easy to understand. I'm having problem bending 2 step on E string fret 20th. My guitar is only 22 fret is that why I do not get the 24th fret tone on 20th fret with bending. Plz do the rest song your video is very helpful.

  • Thank you and play it slow. I am old!!!

  • theres something about section 3 that i dont understand
