  • her er det sjåføne som ikke kan.

    ThM - Norway.

  • Dere viser skam over nordmenn... Dette er flaut. Men vi kan jo legge skylden svenskene, og bilen dems...

  • "Bulb Failure Position Light"

  • Yeah i know

  • Ville tro nordmenn burde kune kjøre bedre på snøføre.

  • @opelfanatikeren Dette var vel for moro dude?

  • You don't have the good tires....

  • @superchanteur it is the driver here that causes the problem, but the Volvo is what I would consider as a wintercar.

ThM - Norway - (ex Volvomechanik)

  • Full throttle to cure wheelspin? Even on AWD... Epic fail...

  • @Niitroshark You obviously don't own a Volvo Cross Country. I do as well as the author of this video, and unfortunately in order to get the rear wheels to activate you DO have to throw near full power to it. Exactly as he said... if you were reading it. Now, I know as well as you do that in order to get traction in snow you DON'T spin the wheels. But with THAT car and those crappy tires, he'd never have come close to making it even as far as he did. So he HAS to spin them to activate 4x4.

  • @StuPadazzo isnt the awd system you talking about only made until -2002? then haldex

take over. before 2002 it was (wisko clutch) on volvo avd. and that system was SHIT!!

  • @Niitroshark for fun maybe?

  • Buy a suby

  • tap on the w from winter

  • @AFCAthebest100 Yes, that is the correct solution for this car under normal snow conditions. BUT, if you owned an XC you'd know that the AWD still won't kick in until you mash the gas. ...even WITH the "Winter" mode turned on... So still, all he would have done is sit at the bottom of the hill and spin the front tires in "W" mode. It doesn't look like he knows what he's doing but he's doing the right thing with THIS bad AWD system. He also has crappy tires.

  • those rims dont let the brakes breathe at all.

  • @fordf1502 and those rims are uber ugly

  • @CrazyDave650 emm yeaa ofc thay are, its plastic covers ..

  • Jævlig fin bil ^^

  • 2Gen. Haldex.... 3gen is a great improvement.

  • need subaru

  • deep snow? LOL :>

  • It travelled better in reverse here than in forward motion maybe you should have tried reversing up the road, my old Saab 95 was better in reverse in thick snow all be it a FWD.

  • Main problem here are the tires......it's visiable that thay can't put all Volvo's power on the ground.... XC is a great car ...when you put realy good tires on it... not all famous and known tires are good....

  • A pity to call the fourwheeldrive of the XC70 "AWD", as its 80% front and 20% rear. A pure disappointment when you need to get up some hills with a few decimeters of fresh snow in the swedish lapplands...

As teesch say, Audi Quattro... Or a Touareg with diff lock :)

  • fy faen, awd kan ikke kompansere for en UBRUKELIG sjåfør!

  • @turbointercoolernet oh yeah, man tar ikke pedal to the metal på sånt føre :P

  • I can only say 2 words!! Audi Quattro

  • volvos awd-system är bara skit. subarus är 5 gånger bättre

  • Buy better tires! :P Nokian hakkapellita 5 or 7 <3

  • Don't think the car is the main problem here...

  • Cooper tires are SHIT on these cars! Upon delivery, please install Yoko Ono geolander A/t's in factory size!

  • Get a Subaru !! hehe

  • piss awd

  • Low RPM dump.

  • jävla skit bil sämst

  • Den här har väl viscokoppling ? Eftersom den är äldre än 02 elr va de

  • only fags use all seasons

  • lada 4ever

  • Niva...

  • haha svenska bil det e bra det

  • use all season tire u idiot, these r summer tires

  • not much difference between sumemr and all season. All season lose their grip around 0 celcius...

  • IN DENMARK YOU PAY 3 TIMES FOR A CAR IN TAX.

A CHEVY SILVERADO WOULD NOT BE INTERESTING OVER HERE I WOULD COST arround 65.000 dollar.

consittered the fuel economy, there are so many other good cars

  • lol chevy don´t make that good cars you should buy european, espeailly german or swede cars.

  • thats sad, not meanin to cause offense, i like european cars. any body know what a crew cab dually diesel truck would cost in europe just out of interest, my silverado was nearly 60,000 american what would it cost over ther?

  • iv drivin my 1993 volvo 740 turbo out of my driveway with 10'' of snow. i had studded tires, but still, its only RWD. its all the weight of the old volvos that made them good in the snow. the newwer volvos are still nice, but not built like tanks like the 240 and 740's were.

  • thats one of the reasons they are tanks i love the old ones. if they had a awd or 4wd part time the old ones would prob be better than most 4wd suv's in snow today.

  • put some real tires on it fool.

  • Now, all Volvos have a Haldex system if they're AWD. So in general the Volvo is FWD (better fuel economy) until the front wheel slips. Then power is sent to the back. I prefer the Subaru system although I've never owned one. The thing is besides the interesting "Core technologies from Subaru", the Volvo is a better car overall. The comfort, build quality, design and safety all play a part in that. My only interest in subaru would be for the WRX STI and Outback. The latter I would like to buy.

  • er det d5`?

  • Great a video off a idiot that dosent know how to drive.

  • i like subaru and volco my mom has a volvo crosscontry she bought new suspentions

  • The 1997-2004 V70XCs have a viscous coupling center differential with a final ratio set at 95:5 (biast to front) and are equiped with a limited slip differential for the rear wheels. The good thing about this set up is that the wheels with most traction always have power, which is the opposite to normal 4WD systems (those without TCS and diff locks).

  • I have an XC70 and the things great in the snow. Id buy a volvo way before I would even set foot in a subaru dealership

  • why you guys hating on subarus so much? im sure the volvo just had bald tires or something. an outback with bald or summer tires wouldve done the same thing. and this is coming from a subaru owner. oh and the volvo's AWD system is nothing like subarus. except that they both have similar traction control

  • "Yes" AND "no" on the drive systems similarities. Manual trans Subarus use a viscous limited-slip mechanical center differential with 50/50% front-to-rear torque split. This is the one to have. Automatic non-WRX Subarus use a 90/10% initial torque split with a computer controlled wet-clutch pack that drives the rear wheels. The Volvo sytem is sort of the same in function to the auto Subaru. Both REQUIRE some front wheelspin, which is bad for really tough conditions. Still, it beats 2WD!

  • viscous AND mechanical center diff? is that even possible?

  • Quite possible! The viscous is the limited-slip feature OF the mechanical center diff on most manual trans AWD Subarus since the XT6 of 1987. An essentially identical functioning system was used for decades in AMC Jeep Quadra-Trac units. These were full time 4WD transfer cases that were on some Wagoneers/Cherokees/J-series pickups/Eagles in the '70s and '80s. GM used a similar setup in AWD Syclone/Typhoon/Astro/Safari/Bravada models.

  • in my mind, a mechanical diff' is something like a torsen diff, that uses cogs etc to relay power. viscous couplings use a silicon solvent that solidifies and forces disks to lock, and thus engage AWD. maybe our interpretations of 'mechanical' are different.

  • Comment removed

  • Check out the Outback Vs. XC70 hill climb video. You'll understand why Volvo blows dead bears.

  • The Volvo in that vid had a bad AWD system.

  • the slower the better

  • In that deep snow I would have used snowchains on the tires. Another question is what tires are on and how fresh are they?

  • the 4wd system isn't actually 4wd. the front wheels get 70% of the power there for the rear wheels only get 30%

  • surely true... that's why subaru seems better than volvo in some videos here...

  • You should have bought a Subaru instead.. the limitied slip differentials work like magic. Volvo XC does not (viscous or haldex, neither work) :)

  • Here, here. I've easily gone through more challenging conditions than this with a 96 Subaru Legacy--through snowbanks up to its headlights and up slopes with snow deep enough to rub the floorpan. But it sounds like there was ice in the tire ruts in this case.

  • i hope you will have the chance to drive a volvo... sure you'll never say the word "subaru"... :D

  • Sometimes the best way to get unstuck is just to floor it. We just went skiing and we got stuck in the snowy parking lot so we just floored it. The speedo said that we were going 50 km/h when we were just standing there because we were spinning the wheels but after that the car started moving and we got traction again.

  • learn how to drive dorks

  • I have a V70XC also and I don't really have to give full throttle to activate the AWD, once the front wheels are spinning the rear wheels get engaged anyway. Or doesn't it ? Anyway see my video on sand to see how all wheels spin.

  • i need wheelspinn to get the rear to activate. so i gave full trottle.

  • are you trying to get stuck??? what is best to do if you want to get up a snowy slope, is to get as far back as possible, turn off the traction control, and gradually accelerate as much as you can without too much wheelspin. then when you get to the hill, slip it into a fairly high gear for your speed and floor it-this will give you the power, and because of the high gear, you wont get much wheel spin...(a gear that puts you in 2000/3000rpm is good).

  • Should have tested the post 2003 XC70, that's when they switched to the Haldex system. I like the wheel design by the way.
