  • why do you have to put this person down for a job well done, my god have you tiled and grouted before? I am doing it now and it's hard work, kudos to you dude and thanks for the video great tips

  • can`t believe nobody`s heard of a washboy !!!!!!(bucket with rollers to wrinse sponge)

  • problem of the washboy is the sponges leave to much water behind which with some grouts causes efflorencense and inconsistent colouring.

its great for but commercial jobs, but in peoples houses where it matters you will get complaints.

  • With respect, not had any complaints with using mine tbh, and i like to work to a high standard.

  • well like i said some grouts. i find grouts with beige and other brown tones have a tendancy to be inconsisten with the wash boy. other grouts with deep reds and blacks or charcoal is much more consistent. also for some reason, grout joint width has a lot to do with consistancy with the wash boy. i find 1/8th joints are worst. 1/4 are better and more consistent. but 90% of my customers want 1/8th or smaller.

good to talk to others that take pride in quality :)

  • @tier1111 how do you figure this? what kind of grout? premixed stuff lol?

I have been tiling for over 10 years, my dad over 20. we have been using washboys for as long as I can remember and we do commercial jobs + tile + hardwood floors in multimillion dollar homes and have never had complaints using a washboy so I dont know what youre doing wrong so that you have inconsistant coloring.... weve never had that and done over 1 million sq feet of tile...

  • People just remember, anyone can say "smear the whole floor then come back and wash." If you're a weekend warrior, start slow. Test it first, then move to larger areas. The temperature plays a huge part in how much you'll be able to do. So smear a little then go back and touch the joints and face of the tile, if it's real dry you better get to washin! Some colors wash out when adding to much water so don't mix it to loose to reduce a chance of discoloration.

  • Thats cool. Real tile guys dont use gloves! Unless it's black grout or epoxy lol

Thank the lord for bigger spounges I have cleaned up a lot of floor with one of those little ones.

  • What a fabulously bizarre video.

  • bomba whats his name talking sense.

  • groutin makes a job,if u get it wrong it ruins the whole job. it doesnt matter how good the tiling is.

  • yeah!

  • Problem with going to wet on grout is it will get gray/white. So with colored grout best to let it set up a bit before even sponging residue...

Also make sure the water you use is clean, to much city water makes your colored grout go gray/white.

Happened on this job, had to back over with grout stain...ugh!

  • I work for a tile company and I can do all kinds of grout. I mean all kinds of grout. I can do 300ft of industrial 100% epoxy grout, the toughest grout in the entire planet. That takes a lot of skill to do. Grouting is easy, when I first started it was hard but it gets easier with practice. My advice to people doing grout for the first time is don't worry just mix the grout a little wet and then sponge the floor in a circular motion. Wait 3 hours and then sponge it again to get the haze off.

  • Dude. mix the grout wetter. im telling you it will not sink. grout the whole floor at once and then wash the lot together. i will get round to putting a video up on how to grout. all of you will be very surprised how quick and easy i make it look.

  • And thats how its done.. Lol. From a fellow tile setter this is a work out.
