I appreciate watching how the Japanese (such a lovely people) deal with their departed. Seeing this movie will make you wish you were Japanese, just because of how they handle the final rites

Bought it off ebay from a guy who was selling a Japanese copy of the DVD with English sub. It was only $15, and that was including shipping. If you wanna buy it though, read all the fine print and make sure you get the Region 0 version, or else it wont play on an American DVD player.
I've seen lots of great asian, european and american movies, and Departures is one of the best.
When I first heard of this movie, I thought it was just about ceremonies and funerals. But if you don't watch you never know. It also contains other elements. I didn't believe I would cry 3 big times during the movie. A sad, warm, meaningful and powerful movie. Very well done.

The film is terrific, wonderful, emotional. I wasn´t the only one crying during the movie. I definitely recommend it goes beyond funerals.

this is coming to my town in a week, I can't wait to see it, it looks great. Joe Hisaishi has done a wonderful job (yet again) with the score.
