Biblically speaking, this video is wrong in every presumptuous statement it makes. The only thing that exceeds this video's gross innacurracy relating to Jesus is this video's arrogance!
God is not Jesus and Jesus is not God.
Jesus does not need to be permanently dead to be a sacrifice. It was His blood that was the sacrifice anyway.
Also God did not sacrifice or punish Jesus to show off to us how much he loves us by hurting His Son!
I read & understand the Bible.THIS VIDEO IS RETARDED!
@TheShadowtail1126 Everything I said is accurate... this video is inaccurate about the subject matter it claims to be an expert about. Considering these facts, if we were to use your insulting words, that would make you the "idiot" who should shut up.
6And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. 7And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
If your all knowing didn't you already know they would be wicked? At the end of verse 7 yahweh realizes he made a mistake and tries to fix by killing everyone .
@MrEmeraldfusion You forgot some: Genesis 6:4 There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.
[these "sons of God" are actually the fallen angels/demons who spawned 12' giants ("demon seed")]
NOTICE! 9 Noah was... perfect in his generations. HE HAD NO DEMON DNA in him. All the "mighty men" were part evil fallen angel requiring death
@MrEmeraldfusion I didn't mean to sound condescending by saying, "You forgot some". Your question is beautiful because it shows exactly why God had to deny man access to the tree of ETERNAL spiritual life! You CAN'T kill and eternal spiritual being/fallen angel (not until the final judgment when Jesus returns). There was a war in heaven: God's angels & Michael & Gabriel against a third of the angels & Lucifer- who lost and was cast out of heaven down to earth.he only has power if men listen&do.
@StratMatt777- "QUESTION Why the heck didn't he STOP the fallen angels from coming to earth in the first PLACE so he wouldn't have to kill all humankind?"
@MrEmeraldfusion Michael and all of God's angels warred in heaven against Lucifer and the third of the angels he corrupted. They won the war and cast the angels out of heaven. You cannot kill an eternal spiritual being. That is why Adam and Eve and mankind were kicked out of the garden/presence of God, in order to deny them access to the tree of (eternal) life- since they had just showed God that they would fall for the lies of the leader of the fallen angels, satan. God doesn't need more!
The reason why god is so sadistic is because he was created by sadistic humans. An all-good god (which the Bible says god is) wouldn't kill millions of people to prove how all-powerful he is.
@thehallerman1 When did God kill millions of people? Please see my other comments to understand why Jesus CHOSE to die and why Jesus is not God- He is God's Son. God offers you the chance to come home to your creator and you spit in His face because you don't like the terms? Okay, do what you like, but it is not accurate to paint God as a hypocritical narcissistic evil-dad just because so many supposed Christians portray Him that way by their unChristian superior behavior towards God's creation
@MrEmeraldfusion Great misinformation due to a complete lack of any understanding or knowledge of even one principle of the Bible. NOT ONE!
Jesus is not God- He said He was sent by God.
God never said he would kill or sacrifice His Son so that He was dead forever. Jesus was the only perfect blameless man to live. His BLOOD sacrifice was the final fulfillment of the Mosaic laws of the Jews where they offered THE BLOOD of lambs without blemish to atone for sin. Please see my other comments.
Jesus suffered? Bull fucking shit! Some whipping and a crucifixion? He should consider his ass lucky. I've seen people in cancer wards who've suffered the majority of their lives. How come they're not your fucking god?
John 10:17 JESUS: “Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”
God did not crucify Jesus like a psychotic angry dad. Look:
Luke 22:42 “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.”
"The core doctrines of Christianity are bizarre and sadistic". U said it! Judeo-Christian-Islam is the sickest religion on the planet. The sickest, most dangerous set of beliefs ever. Only the very dumbest among us are subject to such idiotic, illogic doctrine1 NO GOD EXISTS. People R good because it serves the whole Human race to act in a civilized way. Religious dummies, however, can NEVER be trusted !
How do you know Jesus felt pain during the crucifixion? If he could do anything, maybe He turned off the pain switch. Maybe it was all an illusion created by God. The possibilities are endless.
@gskowal By definition, God can do anything. If he did in fact kill himself by dying on the cross for some inexplicable reason, he may have been impervious to pain. And how big of a sacrifice would it be for him, knowing that he would resurrect in three days?
I have trouble with the idea that the god punished not only the two humans who had no understanding of what they'd done until after they'd eaten the fruit (which shouldn't have been there in the first place if it didn't want them to eat it) but it also punished all of their descendants, and every other species of animal and their descendants, and even plants and their descendants. Even Judge Judy, who's a control freak with a bad attitude, doesn't punish a defendant's children, pets, and plants.
@YY4Me133 Wow this video is so arrogant! But it doesn't surprise me because I used to think like this before I read the bible. You can't understand these concepts if you don't understand the bible. That is why this video is 100% biblically inaccurate claims. People who don't read the bible have no way of knowing that, but they are still guilty of blaspheming God.
First of all, Justin Fatica's comments are not a solid basis for this video. God never claimed that He could not have his Son back!
@YY4Me133 Alright then. Clearly you have made your choice and I wont try to change your mind. Out of curiosity, are there one or two main issues that caused your decision? Was it the time in the Old Testament where the Israelites killed an entire city, men women and children?
@StratMatt777 I don't think it was any one thing in the bible, nor was it only the bible. It was a process that took several years. The people around me were mindless followers. I wanted to understand, not follow blindly. I went with friends to churches and synagogues. I asked questions of other kids, and even adults. My quest to understand led me to atheism. It wasn't a choice. I just realized one day that I no longer believed in a god. I didn't even know there was a word for it.
@YY4Me133 The Jewish sacrificial laws of atonement mentioned in the beginning of this video required the BLOOD sacrifice of a lamb without blemish to atone for the sins of the Jews. The blood was sprinkled on the alter. This arrogant video claims that God "made a show" of sacrificing His only Son, but that it wasn't really a sacrifice because Jesus didn't stay dead! STUPID! Jesus was the "perfect lamb without blemish" who CHOSE to sacrifice His blood out of obedience to His Father to SAVE US!
@YY4Me133 Secular writers who wrote of Christ (the first few HATED Christians, yet still documented the existence of them and Jesus): Cornelius Tacitus, Lucia of Samosata, Suetonius, Pliny the Younger, Thallus, Phlegon, Mara Bar-Seraion.
*Cornelius Tacitus (A.D. 55-120) was a Roman historian who has been called ‘the greatest historian of ancient Rome’, and is generally acknowledged among scholars for his moral integrity.
His most acclaimed works are the Annals and the Histories.
@StratMatt777 Tacitus b. 55/56 CE; Lucian of Samosata b. 125 CE; Suetonius b. 69/75 CE; Pliny the Younger b. 61 CE; Thallus, nothing until the late 2nd cent. CE; Phlegon of Tralles lived in the 2nd cent. CE; Mara Bar-Serapion's letter was composed sometime between 73 CE and the 3rd century. Not a contemporaneous source among them. Hearsay is not evidence.
@YY4Me133 I wonder why all the remaining 11 disciples chose to be crucified instead of denying that Jesus was the Son of God who proved it by coming back to life after being crucified. If they had made everything up they would have denied Jesus to avoid crucifixion. They didn't. I will address you reply to this message in advance: it doesn't matter how insane or mentally ill a person may be... no one would choose to die for what they KNOW is a lie. Why did the disciples choose crucifixion?
I don't know who told you this, but there is NO evidence that any of the disciples were crucified. The evidence for Christian martyrdom is weak at best, and when Christians were killed, it was for other reasons..usually for insurrection or disrespecting Pagan authorities, not because they believed in the resurrection.
@StratMatt777 I've seen no evidence that Jesus existed, so relating stories that I consider fiction doesn't impress me. That said, people have died, even willingly, for what they believed, but that doesn't mean that what they believed was true. You are aware that people who believed in other gods also died for their beliefs, right?
@YY4Me133 All of the people who have died for false beliefs BELIEVED that their belief was TRUE. The 11 disciples who lived and spent time with Jesus were killed because they refused to deny that Jesus had risen fromt eh dead and was therefore the Son of God (because he proved it). They had first hand knowledge it was true. They were there. If they knew it was all a lie that they invented they would not have chosen to die for it. No one would die for what they KNEW was a lie.
@StratMatt777 You wrote: "All of the people who have died for false beliefs BELIEVED that their belief was TRUE."
That was my point. As for the rest of your comment, you're telling me what it says in a book that I consider to be a collection of fictional short stories that read like fairy tales.
You wrote: "No one would die for what they KNEW was a lie."
People have been known to confess to crimes, even capital offenses, which they did not commit. Some may have been executed.
@YY4Me133 "People have been known to confess to crimes, even capital offenses, which they did not commit. Some may have been executed." That is because they were threatened by the police for such a long amount of time that they had a psychological breakdown! Humans reach a point where they simply cannot take anymore pressure and do or say whatever makes it stop.
"Forced confession" has no bearing on our current debate.
I cannot have a discussion with a person who denies basic logic.
@YY4Me133 Writing of the reign of Nero, Tacitus alludes to the death of Christ and to the existence of Christians in Rome:
“… to relieve Nero from the infamy of being believed to have ordered the fire of Rome. Hence to suppress the rumor, he falsely charged and punished with the most exquisite tortures, the persons commonly called Christians, who were hated for their enormities.
***Christus, the founder of the name was put to death by Pontius Pilate***, procurator of Judea...
@YY4Me133 Tacitus continued: “***Christus, the founder of the name was put to death by Pontius Pilate***, procurator of Judea in the reign of Tiberius: but the pernicious superstition, repressed for a time, broke out again, not only through Judea, where the mischief originated, but through the city of Rome also.”
The “superstition” and “mischief’ is obviously referring to their belief that Jesus had been resurrected.
@YY4Me133 * Lucian of Samosata was a Greek satirist of the latter half of the second century who spoke scornfully of Christ and the Christians, never assuming or arguing that they were unreal:
“The Christians, you know, worship a man to this day—the distinguished personage who introduced their novel rights, and *** was crucified on that account…”***
Bible deniers? You mean bible skeptics! I don't deny something which exists, only things which have no evidence or can't be validated, such as scripture. The oversight you're making is that the bible is a book of books of stories. No originals, only copies of copies. What is written in scripture is hearsay at best.
Can you demonstrate the the truth of scripture? How about the supernatural claims? If you can, I'd just love to hear how you do this.
@Cootabux Here's a kid who was dead for a while in surgery and went to heaven when he was 4 or something like that. He told his parents that he met family members there and told his mom that he had two sisters because he met one in heaven. He had no way of knowing that his mom had miscarried when the baby was 2 moths old. /watch?v=QdUGoFTfP7w It basically starts at 2:40 and the part where he tells his mom about meeting his sister is at 4:48. I still don't care what you guys think! :)
@YY4Me133 * Suetonius, another Roman historian, and court official under Hadrian, and annalist of the imperial house, stated in his Life of Claudius 25.4, “As the Jews were making constant disturbances at the instigation of ***Christus***, he [Claudius] expelled them from Rome.”
***Luke refers to this event, which took place in A.D. 49, in Acts 18:2 (which must really upset Bible deniers)!***
@YY4Me133 In Lives of the Caesars 26.2 Suetonius wrote about the fire of Rome in A.D. 64 under Nero’s reign, he recounts that “punishment by Nero was inflicted on the Christians, a class of men given to a new and mischievous superstition”
Suetonius – no friend of Christianity—***places Christians in Rome less than twenty years after Jesus was crucified and he reports that they were suffering and dying for their conviction that Jesus Christ had really lived, died and risen from the dead.***
@YY4Me133 Would you choose to die for something you knew was a lie?
These people saw Jesus’ miracles and resurrection and believed their eyes. Would you choose to die for something you simply “heard from somebody was true” or would you have to have personal proof of Jesus that you had seen first-hand to die for it because you refused to deny his resurrection? Every Christian killed by Rome would have been released for simply denying that Jesus had risen from the dead. It is that simple.
@StratMatt777 People have been known to die for their beliefs, but that doesn't have any bearing on the truth of their beliefs. Innocent people confess to crimes they didn't commit, even capital crimes. Every source you've quoted was from decades, at least, after Jesus' supposed death. There's not one contemporaneous account of his life or "miracles." Not one. Not even the books of the NT. One would expect a man performing "miracles" would get some notice while he was doing them.
@YY4Me133 People do not CHOOSE to die for something they KNOW to be a lie. The disciples all spent time with Jesus and saw Him after the resurrection (as did 500 others). They were brutally crucified (upside down some of them) simply because they refused to deny that Jesus is Lord. To say that people through history have chosen to die for something they KNEW was a lie is absolutely false. It is ludicrous. Everyone who has choosen to die for their religion thinks they know the truth- not a lie!
@YY4Me133 Innocent people confessing to crimes? After brutal interrogation where they fear for their life and are experiencing a psychological attack that they just want to get away from- so they confess out of fear to make it stop?
With all due respect, that was a really, really weak and inaccurate assertion. Seriously? Do your own research if you do have interest in this subject. A world of information is at your fingertips. I think you have already done it and reached your conclusion.
@StratMatt777 I'm talking about people who didn't commit a crime going to the police and confessing. It happens all the time. In any event, as I've already said, the fact that people are willing to die for what they believe does not prove that what they believe is true. If it did, all religions would be true.
@YY4Me133 *Thallus, one of the first secular writers to mention Christ. Around A.D. 52, Thallus wrote a history of the Eastern Mediterranean world from the Trojan War to his own time.
Unfortunately, his writing now exists only in fragments that have been cited by other writers. One such writer is Julius Africanus, a Christian who penned his work around A.D. 221. One interesting passage relates a comment made by Thallus about THE DARKNESS THAT ENVELOPED THE LAND...
@YY4Me133 ...One passage relates a comment made by Thallus about the darkness that enveloped the land during the late afternoon hours WHEN JESUS DIED ON THE CROSS:
As Africanus reports,“Thallus, in the third book of his histories, explains away the darkness as an eclipse of the sun – unreasonably, as it seems to me (because A SOLAR ECLIPSE COULD NOT TAKE PLACE AT THE TIME OF A FULL MOON, and it was the season of the Paschal FULL MOON that Christ died)”
@YY4Me133 There are contemporaneous accounts from Matthew, Mark Luke and John. The New Testament is easily THE BEST attested ancient writing in terms of the sheer number of documents, the time span between the events and the document, and the variety of documents available to sustain or contradict it. Do you believe the ancient writings that record the history of Rome and other nations? They are all less reliable/accurate/provable than the Bible.
@StratMatt777 To my knowledge, the gospels are not contemporaneous, the authors are anonymous, the names added later. In any event, it would take more than the accounts of 3 people to convince me they witnessed anything that we otherwise know to be impossible. People claim to have been abducted by extraterrestrials. Doesn't make it so. The bible is not reliable scientifically, historically, it even contradicts itself. Maybe you should care about whether what you believe is true.
@YY4Me133 All peoples and cultures throughout history have passed stories and witness accounts to their offspring by word of mouth, sometimes down numerous generations (like all books of antiquity) yet you have a problem with the gospels of Jesus being recorded 30 years after he was crucified? Is it possible that your devout faith in the absence of God is blinding you to obvious truths? I thought Christians were morons until God answered my prayers asked in Jesus' name. That changes thinking!
@YY4Me133 Tell me where the Bible contradicts itself, I'm curious. I assure you that nothing is more important to me than being sure that what I believe is true. It would be difficult to find someone who is as cynical as me or who does as much research as I do into these things to prove them to be true. Answered prayers are what changed me from thinking that Christians were stupid, judgmental, sheeple afraid of death to investigating the Bible myself, apart from Christendom(DUMB)'s help.
@YY4Me133 John 1:29 "The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!"
This narrator is so prideful and arrogant toward God (like I used to be because I didn't understand God or the Bible and resented all these hypocritical "religious whackos"). What right does man have to mock his creator? God has freely offered you salvation via His Son's WILLFUL sacrifice and you spit in His face because you think He is a hypocrite?!
@YY4Me133 Tell me, how did God punish these two humans? By kicking them out of the garden? By eating the apple man showed God that he would be gullible and do what satan tricked him into doing instead of being obedient to God.
Lucifer took a third of the angels of heaven when he was cast out. God didn't want more fallen angels with eternal spiritual life (Man). THAT is why He cast them out of the garden away from the tree of ETERNAL SPIRITUAL life! You know of Jesus- why are you complaining?
@YY4Me133 How has God punished Adam and Eve and all their offspring and all the animals and plants? What is this punishment that we are all experiencing that you speak of?
If you deny Jesus' free gift you remain cutoff from God and will die and be buried in teh ground and know nothing. That is an athiest's DREAM! No connection to God, no accountability, nothing after death- just DEAD! Why are you complaining? Because the world is so messed up? Blame MAN for that. Ignorance causes arrogance?
@YY4Me133 That's because he specifically told them not to eat the fruit, and Adam and Eve still disobeyed him. God put it there to test their love and trust for him. Of God said already that they would die if they ate it, and god cannot go against his word.So obviously, he took away man's immortality. This is why he sent his son to die for us so that we would be forgiven because he loves us. All we have to do is believe and repent.
@Amber97979 So this god put a tree in the middle of this garden, and told two people who had no knowledge of "good" and "evil" until they ate the fruit of that tree, and it, this god, expected them to understand what they couldn't possibly understand until they ate the fruit of the tree? This makes sense to you? You think that eternal torture for not loving a god for which there's no evidence, or even if there were, is justice? Religion has warped your morals.
@YY4Me133 He said to them just don't eat fruit from that tree, otherwise they'd die. It was the serpent who tricked Eve into thinking she would become more like god be eating it.
You think that God would say, "Oh sure, all of you are saved! I forgive you humans for killing my son who came to die for you! And even if you don't believe in me, and you think that the bible is completely stupid, I'll let you go in heaven!" ALL god requires is that we believe in him and love him and admit our sins.
@YY4Me133 Then why'd we need to believe in him? If we already have solid proof, we wouldn't need to believe in god.
I think the world's evidence actually. The fact that we are here means someone created us right? I mean, I don't really think that a small marble thing would explode and bang, the universe would appear. For everything to make sense, there'd be nothing. Which is why we humans just choose what we believe in, and I happen to believe in Christ.
@Amber97979 To believe is simply to accept something as true. It says nothing as to why.
You think the world is evidence because you start out with the belief that a god created everything. I don't see any reason to believe any god(s) exist(s), so I see the world as evidence that the world exists. The Big Bang Theory says that there was an expansion, not an explosion. Christianity says a god "spoke" everything into existence. One is based on evidence, the other on ignorance.
@YY4Me133 The Big Bang Theory is a "theory" and is equally unbelievable as a god speaking things into existence. One super atom (expanding as you say) into a universe? The Bible has evidence too, there's been many old documents that have supported it's events. A lot of people don't believe in either too. It's fine that you don't believe in Jesus, but there's no need to go around insulting a random person that you think doesn't exists.
@Amber97979 Theory in science has a different meaning than in common usage: "In science, a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that can incorporate facts, laws, inferences, and tested hypotheses." There's no evidence for the existence of any god, including the one in the christian bible. Ignorance ("lack of knowledge or information") is not an insult. Belief based on faith, i.e. without evidence and/or despite evidence to the contrary, is ignorant.
@YY4Me133 Alright then, so you think we are just an ignorant bunch of people and that there is no evidence for the events in the bible. Why do you take time to talk about how stupid it was that god punished Adam and Eve in the first comment then, if you don't believe that happened?
@Amber97979 Are you suggesting that a person can comment on only those things they believe to be true? If so, why did you comment on the Big Bang Theory?
@YY4Me133 I'm not saying you can only take about things you think are true. I just said I didn't believe in the Big Bang Theory and that it was unbelievable to me. I didn't insult God and say "Even Judge Judy, who's a control freak with a bad attitude, doesn't punish a defendant's children, pets, and plants." That would mean God is worse than a control freak and has bad attitude... A "fictional" god that "doesn't exist."
@Amber97979 I didn't insult "god" either. According to the christian bible, the "Abrahamic" god is worse than a control freak, and has a very bad attitude.
And supporting palestine does not require to be spreading hypocrisy and lies.. I do support people but dont lie about their enemies.. Have a Nice day,Sir...
@wasssuppp08 are you kidding? You dare say "not everyone accepts the gas chambers theory"...! Fool, dont play that game, dishonesty Will not serve your cause, especially when you say" viva Palestine" right behind.. We all see what you try to do here..
Thanks for the re-uploading. This is an excellent video, like all DiscoveringReligion's productions. His channel deserves more attention than it gets.
@brongarago Watch the movie "The Lion the Prince and the Wardrobe". Then you'll understand. There are rules that even God can't break- because He can't just change His laws to lie and make Himself a liar. Do whatever you want with your free will.

Jesus CHOSE to save us.

MrWagman11 6 months ago
@MrWagman11 , very plausible , if a disease(CIPA) like that is possible then God himself could have done that as well.
gskowal 6 months ago

@StratMatt777 Reading the christian bible, cover to cover, was the last step in my becoming an atheist.
YY4Me133 3 months ago
@YY4Me133 Alright then. Clearly you have made your choice and I wont try to change your mind. Out of curiosity, are there one or two main issues that caused your decision? Was it the time in the Old Testament where the Israelites killed an entire city, men women and children?
StratMatt777 2 months ago

StratMatt777 1 week ago
@StratMatt777
@StratMatt777
I don't know who told you this, but there is NO evidence that any of the disciples were crucified. The evidence for Christian martyrdom is weak at best, and when Christians were killed, it was for other reasons..usually for insurrection or disrespecting Pagan authorities, not because they believed in the resurrection.
GalaxyString 6 days ago
@StratMatt777 I've seen no evidence that Jesus existed, so relating stories that I consider fiction doesn't impress me. That said, people have died, even willingly, for what they believed, but that doesn't mean that what they believed was true. You are aware that people who believed in other gods also died for their beliefs, right?
YY4Me133 6 days ago
@YY4Me133 All of the people who have died for false beliefs BELIEVED that their belief was TRUE. The 11 disciples who lived and spent time with Jesus were killed because they refused to deny that Jesus had risen fromt eh dead and was therefore the Son of God (because he proved it). They had first hand knowledge it was true. They were there. If they knew it was all a lie that they invented they would not have chosen to die for it. No one would die for what they KNEW was a lie.
StratMatt777 6 days ago
@StratMatt777 You wrote: "All of the people who have died for false beliefs BELIEVED that their belief was TRUE."

"Forced confession" has no bearing on our current debate.

StratMatt777 2 months ago
@YY4Me133 Tacitus continued: “***Christus, the founder of the name was put to death by Pontius Pilate***, procurator of Judea in the reign of Tiberius: but the pernicious superstition, repressed for a time, broke out again, not only through Judea, where the mischief originated, but through the city of Rome also.”
The “superstition” and “mischief’ is obviously referring to their belief that Jesus had been resurrected.
StratMatt777 2 months ago

StratMatt777 2 months ago
@YY4Me133 In Lives of the Caesars 26.2 Suetonius wrote about the fire of Rome in A.D. 64 under Nero’s reign, he recounts that “punishment by Nero was inflicted on the Christians, a class of men given to a new and mischievous superstition”

StratMatt777 2 months ago
@StratMatt777 People have been known to die for their beliefs, but that doesn't have any bearing on the truth of their beliefs. Innocent people confess to crimes they didn't commit, even capital crimes. Every source you've quoted was from decades, at least, after Jesus' supposed death. There's not one contemporaneous account of his life or "miracles." Not one. Not even the books of the NT. One would expect a man performing "miracles" would get some notice while he was doing them.
YY4Me133 2 months ago
@YY4Me133 People do not CHOOSE to die for something they KNOW to be a lie. The disciples all spent time with Jesus and saw Him after the resurrection (as did 500 others). They were brutally crucified (upside down some of them) simply because they refused to deny that Jesus is Lord. To say that people through history have chosen to die for something they KNEW was a lie is absolutely false. It is ludicrous. Everyone who has choosen to die for their religion thinks they know the truth- not a lie!
StratMatt777 2 months ago
@YY4Me133 Innocent people confessing to crimes? After brutal interrogation where they fear for their life and are experiencing a psychological attack that they just want to get away from- so they confess out of fear to make it stop?
With all due respect, that was a really, really weak and inaccurate assertion. Seriously? Do your own research if you do have interest in this subject. A world of information is at your fingertips. I think you have already done it and reached your conclusion.
StratMatt777 2 months ago

StratMatt777 2 months ago
@YY4Me133 ...One passage relates a comment made by Thallus about the darkness that enveloped the land during the late afternoon hours WHEN JESUS DIED ON THE CROSS:
As Africanus reports,“Thallus, in the third book of his histories, explains away the darkness as an eclipse of the sun – unreasonably, as it seems to me (because A SOLAR ECLIPSE COULD NOT TAKE PLACE AT THE TIME OF A FULL MOON, and it was the season of the Paschal FULL MOON that Christ died)”
-Julius Africanus, Chronography18.1
StratMatt777 2 months ago
@YY4Me133 There are contemporaneous accounts from Matthew, Mark Luke and John. The New Testament is easily THE BEST attested ancient writing in terms of the sheer number of documents, the time span between the events and the document, and the variety of documents available to sustain or contradict it. Do you believe the ancient writings that record the history of Rome and other nations? They are all less reliable/accurate/provable than the Bible.
I don't care what you think.
Happy New Year!
StratMatt777 2 months ago
@StratMatt777 To my knowledge, the gospels are not contemporaneous, the authors are anonymous, the names added later. In any event, it would take more than the accounts of 3 people to convince me they witnessed anything that we otherwise know to be impossible. People claim to have been abducted by extraterrestrials. Doesn't make it so. The bible is not reliable scientifically, historically, it even contradicts itself. Maybe you should care about whether what you believe is true.
YY4Me133 2 months ago
@YY4Me133 All peoples and cultures throughout history have passed stories and witness accounts to their offspring by word of mouth, sometimes down numerous generations (like all books of antiquity) yet you have a problem with the gospels of Jesus being recorded 30 years after he was crucified? Is it possible that your devout faith in the absence of God is blinding you to obvious truths? I thought Christians were morons until God answered my prayers asked in Jesus' name. That changes thinking!
StratMatt777 2 months ago

@StratMatt777 I don't spit in your god's "face" any more than I spit in any other fictional character's face.

StratMatt777 3 months ago
@YY4Me133 How has God punished Adam and Eve and all their offspring and all the animals and plants? What is this punishment that we are all experiencing that you speak of?
If you deny Jesus' free gift you remain cutoff from God and will die and be buried in teh ground and know nothing. That is an athiest's DREAM! No connection to God, no accountability, nothing after death- just DEAD! Why are you complaining? Because the world is so messed up? Blame MAN for that. Ignorance causes arrogance?
StratMatt777 3 months ago
@YY4Me133 That's because he specifically told them not to eat the fruit, and Adam and Eve still disobeyed him. God put it there to test their love and trust for him. Of God said already that they would die if they ate it, and god cannot go against his word.So obviously, he took away man's immortality. This is why he sent his son to die for us so that we would be forgiven because he loves us. All we have to do is believe and repent.
Amber97979 2 months ago
@Amber97979 So this god put a tree in the middle of this garden, and told two people who had no knowledge of "good" and "evil" until they ate the fruit of that tree, and it, this god, expected them to understand what they couldn't possibly understand until they ate the fruit of the tree? This makes sense to you? You think that eternal torture for not loving a god for which there's no evidence, or even if there were, is justice? Religion has warped your morals.
YY4Me133 2 months ago
@YY4Me133 He said to them just don't eat fruit from that tree, otherwise they'd die. It was the serpent who tricked Eve into thinking she would become more like god be eating it.
You think that God would say, "Oh sure, all of you are saved! I forgive you humans for killing my son who came to die for you! And even if you don't believe in me, and you think that the bible is completely stupid, I'll let you go in heaven!" ALL god requires is that we believe in him and love him and admit our sins.
Amber97979 2 months ago
@Amber97979 If your god requires us to believe in it, it should make itself known to us. I, for one, have never seen any evidence of its existence.
YY4Me133 2 months ago
@YY4Me133 Then why'd we need to believe in him? If we already have solid proof, we wouldn't need to believe in god.
I think the world's evidence actually. The fact that we are here means someone created us right? I mean, I don't really think that a small marble thing would explode and bang, the universe would appear. For everything to make sense, there'd be nothing. Which is why we humans just choose what we believe in, and I happen to believe in Christ.
How and why do you think earth exists?
Amber97979 2 months ago
@Amber97979 To believe is simply to accept something as true. It says nothing as to why.
You think the world is evidence because you start out with the belief that a god created everything. I don't see any reason to believe any god(s) exist(s), so I see the world as evidence that the world exists. The Big Bang Theory says that there was an expansion, not an explosion. Christianity says a god "spoke" everything into existence. One is based on evidence, the other on ignorance.
YY4Me133 2 months ago
@YY4Me133 The Big Bang Theory is a "theory" and is equally unbelievable as a god speaking things into existence. One super atom (expanding as you say) into a universe? The Bible has evidence too, there's been many old documents that have supported it's events. A lot of people don't believe in either too. It's fine that you don't believe in Jesus, but there's no need to go around insulting a random person that you think doesn't exists.
Amber97979 2 months ago
@Amber97979 Theory in science has a different meaning than in common usage: "In science, a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that can incorporate facts, laws, inferences, and tested hypotheses." There's no evidence for the existence of any god, including the one in the christian bible. Ignorance ("lack of knowledge or information") is not an insult. Belief based on faith, i.e. without evidence and/or despite evidence to the contrary, is ignorant.
YY4Me133 2 months ago
@YY4Me133 Alright then, so you think we are just an ignorant bunch of people and that there is no evidence for the events in the bible. Why do you take time to talk about how stupid it was that god punished Adam and Eve in the first comment then, if you don't believe that happened?
Amber97979 2 months ago
@Amber97979 Are you suggesting that a person can comment on only those things they believe to be true? If so, why did you comment on the Big Bang Theory?
YY4Me133 2 months ago

@YY4Me133 I'm not saying you can only take about things you think are true. I just said I didn't believe in the Big Bang Theory and that it was unbelievable to me. I didn't insult God and say "Even Judge Judy, who's a control freak with a bad attitude, doesn't punish a defendant's children, pets, and plants." That would mean God is worse than a control freak and has bad attitude... A "fictional" god that "doesn't exist."
