@chewser117 Must ask, how much would the insurance be then? 2004 Sti would cost at least over for me 15000 € but insurance would be maximum about 600-1000 euros a year. That's with 0% bonus. I think that kind of insurance is reasonable for a car like Sti, GT-R of Supra.

My 2004 STi (USDM) ran 13.0@104mph and ran 1.7 sixty foot times BONE STOCK.... I beat the hell out of that car daily for nearly 4 years and it never skipped a beat.
If you are a magazine racer you will think that because the STi doesnt have great skidpad numbers that it doesnt handle well. Go for a ride in one with a good driver and then see if you still feel the same way.
its not a sti exactly! its a rb320 which was produced in memorial of the british subaru race driver 'richard burns' ! although they did produce a rb5 earlier! this rb320 uses a sti lump and punches out 320 as standard!!!

A 5 liter mustang only makes four hundred horsepower yet it is twice as big. People want to improve stock performance hence aftermarket companies

@magmad1971 Check fastest laps dot com, find the nurburgring page. Note places 13, 36, 66, 72. Then, see the fastest Subarus at number 89, 145, 188. Finally, the Evo is at 105, 120, 147. Check other tracks where these cars have run, you'll see the same pattern. Not saying Evos and STIs are bad, just pointing out that your statement is rather foolish. There's also many examples of certain production Mustangs being faster on tracks than Evos and Scoobies.
@magmad1971 The Corvette ZR1 has one of the best stock lap times at Nürburgring, go look it up. Their suspension is world class and not much beats it besides Supercars. It does better than every stock Jap car except for the Nissan GTR (the new Skyline), don't get me wrong I am not defending Corvette's, I don't personally like them. I own 3 highly modified Toyota Supra's (98, 97 and 94) so I love JDM car's but facts are facts and Corvette ZR1's are cornering monsters.

AWD cars tend to understeer and lack the ability to oversteer on command. but don't get me wrong, I personally LOVE the EVO IX, but they're not the best cars ever made
@crusaderpat exactly, drawback to the awd/4wd is understeer while under load, however, they have more grip and power exiting corners than rwd. RWD can usually get away with a much more aggressive entry. Really comes down to the driver in the long run, the right driver can do amazing things regardless of drivetrain.

@123supra321 horsepower is horsepower, its all the same. How it is obtained and put down however does matter and affect performance though. Consider this, a naturally asperated v8 with 500hp would more then likely smoke a 4 cyllinder in a straight line for a couple reasons. Turbo lag is a big one, the only way the 4cyl would have an advantage off the line was if it was awd or had a 2step launch control, even so, power is lost with awd therefor giving the v8 another advantage. I was able to drag street race my moms mercury Mystique that is a piece of crap but had a solid transmission, and had street drag raced, an Automatic 2008 Shelby GT 500 with at least 300 horsepower, and passed her with flying colors, from 2nd gear, shifting into 3rd going almost 90MPH, as I was shifting it into 3rd gear! Standards are way better, More Torque, and that race even sounded better, you have to get your exhaust & or engine checked with that! That sounded terrible. Sorry to say.
@andypf1994 hey sorry it took me a while to get back to your comment of my comment, yes I was in my moms mercury mistyque & had drag raced the 08 Shelby GT500(NON COBRA) basic model, and passed her with flying colors, in 2nd gear shifting into 3rd... I do not know what she had for overall horsepower, but I know she let off the gas a little bit at about 70-74MPH, but I think she had a lot of horsepower, but NO TORQUE-(as she was driving an "AUTOMATIC", where I was driving a STANDARD 5 SPEED)

GT500) I raced, did not have the torque, I don't know, maybe it was that she just let off the gas a bit, as I whipped past her! All I know is that it was a local company vehicle. Dude my moms piece of crap 99 Standard Mercury Mystique sounds better then that @ 4,500 RPMS, NOT EVEN REDLINING IT AT 7,000 RPMS & have already had 3 drag races with it and won all three. But yeah man that "Beemers Engine" sounds like its on its last legs, before it dies! It sounds terrible. And saying that my moms Mercury Mystique that I have already had three drag races, with it sounds better, even at low RPM's I was able to go from 5MPH-40PMH in 1st gear, 40-65 in 2nd Gear, & sounded better

computer game (as much as ou wish) will never be a real life race/driving, even if it's Gran Turismo 5 that is due to come out soon which is the most complete driving simulator... it's 10 times harder in real life... in computer game you're not affraid to crash and die hahahaha... i've tried nurburgring on forza/pgr/nfs shift and in real life, completely different thing lol
@MRLFMAO very true. But remember games are very different to simulators. They train pilots in simulators before they get into the real thing. F1 drivers use simulators as well to practice. Someone that has mastered a race car simulator will always be better than someone watching you tube clips. Simulators teach you patience which is safer and cheaper to learn virtually than in real life.

@magmad1971 Check fastest laps dot com, find the nurburgring page. Note places 13, 36, 66, 72. Then, see the fastest Subarus at number 89, 145, 188. Finally, the Evo is at 105, 120, 147. Check other tracks where these cars have run, you'll see the same pattern. Not saying Evos and STIs are bad, just pointing out that your statement is rather foolish. There's also many examples of certain production Mustangs being faster on tracks than Evos and Scoobies.

@magmad1971 The Corvette ZR1 has one of the best stock lap times at Nürburgring, go look it up. Their suspension is world class and not much beats it besides Supercars. It does better than every stock Jap car except for the Nissan GTR (the new Skyline), don't get me wrong I am not defending Corvette's, I don't personally like them. I own 3 highly modified Toyota Supra's (98, 97 and 94) so I love JDM car's but facts are facts and Corvette ZR1's are cornering monsters.

@HollyShitBobMcBob To answer your question, we know the Torque is not from the Transmission, yet from the engine, but to answer your question, Manual transmissions bring out more torque from the engines right from the start, compared to an Automatic transmission, which looses a lot of the torque from the engine! @Cloudstrife1188 ahh, but you are assuming all v8 cars weigh more than I4 turbo's. which just isnt the case. because most "true" v8 sport cars are made with lightweight chassis, either aluminum or carbon fiber, and not made of steel.

@Cloudstrife1188 true enough, but if we are talking about modifying, you can slap 2 turbos on any 90's vett or stang for the less than a cost of a new Evo/STI and it will kick their asses. " All else being equal" a V8 WILL be faster than a I4.

@Cloudstrife1188 you wouldn't be sacrificing anything. anyhow, any true automotive enthusiast would go for a rear wheel drive car not an AWD car. AWD cars tend to understeer and lack the ability to oversteer on command. but don't get me wrong, I personally LOVE the EVO IX, but they're not the best cars ever made

@crusaderpat exactly, drawback to the awd/4wd is understeer while under load, however, they have more grip and power exiting corners than rwd. RWD can usually get away with a much more aggressive entry. Really comes down to the driver in the long run, the right driver can do amazing things regardless of drivetrain.

@123supra321 horsepower is horsepower, its all the same. How it is obtained and put down however does matter and affect performance though. Consider this, a naturally asperated v8 with 500hp would more then likely smoke a 4 cyllinder in a straight line for a couple reasons. Turbo lag is a big one, the only way the 4cyl would have an advantage off the line was if it was awd or had a 2step launch control, even so, power is lost with awd therefor giving the v8 another advantage. I was able to drag street race my moms mercury Mystique that is a piece of crap but had a solid transmission, and had street drag raced, an Automatic 2008 Shelby GT 500 with at least 300 horsepower, and passed her with flying colors, from 2nd gear, shifting into 3rd going almost 90MPH, as I was shifting it into 3rd gear! Standards are way better, More Torque, and that race even sounded better, you have to get your exhaust & or engine checked with that! That sounded terrible. Sorry to say.

@andypf1994 hey sorry it took me a while to get back to your comment of my comment, yes I was in my moms mercury mistyque & had drag raced the 08 Shelby GT500(NON COBRA) basic model, and passed her with flying colors, in 2nd gear shifting into 3rd... I do not know what she had for overall horsepower, but I know she let off the gas a little bit at about 70-74MPH, but I think she had a lot of horsepower, but NO TORQUE-(as she was driving an "AUTOMATIC", where I was driving a STANDARD 5 SPEED)

@andypf1994 Well that was for sure, on that day of the drag race, I know for sure my moms crappy mistyque does not have 400-500 horsepower thats for sure, but it had the torque from the standard, as the general model(2008 S. GT500) I raced, did not have the torque, I don't know, maybe it was that she just let off the gas a bit, as I whipped past her! All I know is that it was a local company vehicle. Because I know the company owner personally;... I cant say what company it was in Bangor, ME!

Dude my moms piece of crap 99 Standard Mercury Mystique sounds better then that @ 4,500 RPMS, NOT EVEN REDLINING IT AT 7,000 RPMS & have already had 3 drag races with it and won all three. But yeah man that "Beemers Engine" sounds like its on its last legs, before it dies! It sounds terrible. And saying that my moms Mercury Mystique that I have already had three drag races, with it sounds better, even at low RPM's I was able to go from 5MPH-40PMH in 1st gear, 40-65 in 2nd Gear, & sounded better

computer game (as much as ou wish) will never be a real life race/driving, even if it's Gran Turismo 5 that is due to come out soon which is the most complete driving simulator... it's 10 times harder in real life... in computer game you're not affraid to crash and die hahahaha... i've tried nurburgring on forza/pgr/nfs shift and in real life, completely different thing lol

@MRLFMAO very true. But remember games are very different to simulators. They train pilots in simulators before they get into the real thing. F1 drivers use simulators as well to practice. Someone that has mastered a race car simulator will always be better than someone watching you tube clips. Simulators teach you patience which is safer and cheaper to learn virtually than in real life.
