My jazz band is playing this song (I play the tenor saxophone which is the same as the vocalist in this song) and I wondered what the orignal song sounded like. I knee this was a slow, pretty song but I never knew how sad it was.

Yes, a very melancholic and nostalgic song of a guy would have had a girl in his life but was gone. But the good part is that girl might turn out to be his worse nightmare. I love this song since it gives me memories when I was in high school and had a crush but did not bloom into a love affair. No regret though, just happy to be remembering how its like to be young again even in this song while being played.
