Green house gasses are things such as water vapor, carbon dioxide, ozone and methane. They regulate the earth's temperature by slowing the escape of infrared radiation that comes from the sun. You could put 100% c02 in a zone and if you increase pressure its hot and if you reduce pressure its cold. Heat is defined by pressure and friction. When molecules are compressed they get hot. Thats why mercury is cooler than venus even though the sun is closer. mercury has no atmosphere so no pressure.

The earth is not a closed system, we have this thing called the sun that sends energy to us every second.
