  • @MrLs7killer Corvette's will beat the cobra's with quite a bit of less horse power ,for obvious reason's. I have seen them have up to 85 more at the tire and still get pulled at about 110. You must have a beast of a car to kill ls7 ,Late model race crafts has 1800 horse options , f2 procharger kits. There 1300 option does 9's. The lsx 427 which is a stronger ls7, ment for boosting can get over 2000 at the crank ,nelson racing has one in a 69 camaro. Also a 1800rwhp in a Mosler MT900.

  • You are right a cobra i a big deal if pullied and tuned right with a Big mammoth KB or Whipple they r no joke. The only problem is that they tend to lean out on the last cylinders always and most of time blow.........when unexpected.

Chevy's N/A base model corvette, that wasn't even a race that vette could have pulled a spark plug, ran on 7 cylinders and still smoked that ugly ass, heavy ass shitstang. LOL I used to have a 99 cobra, now i have a 01 C5 vette, trust me there's no comparison between cobra's and vettes NONE. hell my 95 Z28 camaro even stomped every cobra i raced...ford has ALWAYS had the way slower car ever since 93 when the Lt1 came out, mustangs suck cock

  • treyofour, can you read? The vette had heads and a cam. That car could be making over 600 HP. I ran stock vette 2003 vette at ROckingham and put a Greyhound on his ass. I ran a 11.50 to his 12.80. He parked by me. They had a bike race that weekend. I had 20-30 people around my 03 the whole night. I never seen anyone give the vette anything more than a whiff. Afterall, everybody and his brother has one.

  • a lot of people drive the 6 cylinder, but like any v8 american car, with enough mods and a great look like 90% of the 03-04 cobras i see, they become immediate head turners, btw the C5 there is making 430+ hp to the wheels, the cobra has about 400 bhp stock, also the vette is about 500-600lbs lighter than the cobra, id still go with the cobra, a much better feel of a car

  • and for the record just because you see "pullied cobra" doesnt mean its making 460 to 480 rwhp... there are combinations for the pulleys and different tunes... for instance i only have an idler pulley set up so i only make 443 rwhp. I'll have a KB set up soon but thats another story.

  • I own both Vettes and mustangs. but honestly a vette is a better made car. It can compete in any type of race. Mustangs are only good for straights.

  • Mustang was not made to compete against vettes. Its a completely different league. The day ford makes a stang with as good suspension as a vette. With as good handling, fiberglass, and a strong motor that wont blow into pieces after 450rwhp without doing all the internals then the stang will cost a lot more than the vette lol.

  • @alex369 The gt is fare for Z28 and SS though the mustang was always slower and the cobra for the ZO6 you cant tell me that the cobra r with the 5.4 was made for the camaro and the 03-04 cobra aswell. with 4 cams and a twin screw wich both was still slower than the Z. cobras are nice and like them but chevy is better but like dablackfly said they can easly befaster than each other

  • @luvscience44 The 03-04 Cobra blower is a roots blower, not a twin screw. Twin screw superchargers are whipples, kenny belle, etc. MANY 03-04 Cobras make over 700whp with those setups. Trust me, cobras are no joke. I have a 99 Z28 Camaro so I am a Chevy guy too, but those 03-04 Cobras deserve some credit.

  • @alex369 exactly my friend!!!! this vid proves a NA motor with cam/heads will halftrack a modded supercharged termi. which is halarious.. i got a 01 C5 6 speed, full exhaust , DR's, and a 100 shot and i've ate every termi at the track or street, even off the juice , they are fast but jesus for a supercharged car (ford guys will argue a non supercharged cobra will run with a vette LOL) that is just terrible....

  • @alex369 They get to about 550 actually and we all should now ls engine's are not forged and have to high of compression. When you lower the compression forge the engine and boost it, say hello to 1000 horse power if were talking 7 liters say hello to 2000 horse power, 9.4l the 572 is just unnecessary. I know pc'd ls1and ls2 engines will get over 500 horses with 6-8 psi safe with a stock engine which is plenty of horse power unless you need more than rebuild it and fuck everything.

  • @alex369 Also an LS9 has forged steel crank, forged pistons with 9/5 to 1 compression built for boost it makes 532 on the dyno in the ZR1 Hennessy said after 1500 miles they gain 15-20 horse power so 550 horse power with the zr1 and i dont see it blowing anytime soon. Hennessy ports the heads ,swaps the cam, the upper and lower, puts faster injectors,u know the simple supercharged engine stuff and they make 648 on the dyno, a car capable of 205 without that. the ls9 is ready for more boost

  • it can, lsx engines are among the greatest and strongest. they have lots of potential. vettes dont need superchargers to keep up with the best, unlike your cobra which is no competition for any lsx.

  • there is not one modern ford engine that has the ls7 beat. Ford has always had to resort to forced induction to attempt to compete with lsx engines and they fail miserably every time. try throwing a s/c on an ls7 and the ls9 is born, there is no ford engine that has more power than the ls9. The 505 hp n/a ls7 is way out of fords league, as are most lsx engines. The only way ford can even touch 500 hp is with a s/c set up. it looks like ford is the one who needs some catching up to do.

This cobra should destroy the vette but it doesnt. Look at Chevys ZR1 Corvette its supercharged and its 10 times faster then a cobra. I actually have 2 friends with corvettes. One is a 8 Sec 427 N/A Z06 and the other is a C5 with a MS4 Cam puttin down about 460whp. Cobras just arent even in the same league as corvettes.

  • sorry, idiot was a little over the edge. I have a 03 Cobra and there are different perks to both cars. For one, cobras are cheap to mod. A HCI vette isn't cheap to build. Mine makes about 500 rwhp on the street tune and runs 124 in the 1/4. I have put about 5K into my car as far as tuning, and mods. Yeah the ZR1 is faster (I could be faster with a KB or TT set up easy for 6K. The ZR1 is a 110+K dollar car, should it better be fast.

  • Your still missing the point. You can buy a c5 corvette for way less then a cobra. Put 5k into a corvette that you payed 12-13k which is what there going for these days and your still way behind the cost in a cobra. Point being also corvettes dont need a supercharger like cobras do. A cam for a corvette is not expensive at all and you could find used heads or port the stock ones. Sorry modded cobras will never compete with corvettes. Should have bought a corvette and not a cobra.

  • I have taken apart Stang motor Heads and Vette motor Heads. compare the heads of a vette with a stang. The ports are much bigger. vette heads gain more hp than a stangs heads simply because they flow 10 times better so they always make more hp.

Why do you think a Camaro and a Mustang with the sme hp can race and the Camaro pulls up top. and the Corvette is even more aero than the Camaro. A stock Vette with 350hp hits 175mph because of gearing. No Mustang can do that with the same power.

  • The FRC owner should post the mods to the car. A stock LS1/6 motor w/numerous external bolt-ons & stock short block + 3.90's will run in the 11:20-90's at 114-120+MPH. Less weight & better Aerodynamics=MPH advantage.

  • I call BS on that thing being a heads/cam only car. If it is true the cobra needs a tune or something. A cobra with the right tune should run mid to upper 11's all day if you can drive. So should the vette. Those cars should have been pretty close IMO.

  • My buddy's runnin 12.6's in his bone stock C5...and its a targa not an FRC...so its more than possible given the driver mod for an FRC with heads and a cam to pull that hard on the Cobra...

They're fast, but not that fast. I have a cobra, and I've driven c5's. Both nice cars, just not the full story.

  • My buddy bought a 99 FRC after owning an Cobra. It had a CAI,Exhaust,Pulley and tune. 120 MPH in the 1/4 on DR's. My Z06 had LT's, X-pipe, Zip-Tie mod. It went 117 MPH in the 1/4. No traction thru 2nd.I ran a Cobra with similar mods.I pulled 3 cars from 45-130 MPH. Cobras are fast if tuned right. The Hardtop in this video must be making 460HP or more. The owner should post the mods so we know. Both cars are a blast to own.

  • The 1999 and 2000 Hardtop Corvettes,which look like a Z06 at first glance were the foundation for the 2001 Z06(Which I own). The 99 and 2000 Hardtop Corvettes are between 110-135 LBS lighter,depending on wheels/tires than a Coupe model.

    They are also know as FRC's or Fixed Roof Coupe even thought they Hardtop Models. These cars come with the Z51 suspension as standard equipment.

  • I watched the end of this video closely and the way the FRC pulled RPM is definetely N/A. Nitrous LS1-LS6's RPM quicker 3rd-4th than this car. The COBRA had a strong 1st-2nd but needed more boost to run this FRC. The COBRA should never be under-rated, lots of potential. Its just more MPH to over come the weight advantage of a Z06. Always a great match-up.

  • Thats not a Z06. The 99 c5 coupe comes with the ls1 350 hp and 350 trq but it comes with the z06 trunk. Remember that chevys pull more on top end after 3rd ;)

  • 1st, great video.Heads/Cam/Intake/Exhaust­/Tune/LS1-LS6's make 460-490RWHP. FRC or Z06 weight 3080(average).03/04 COBRA's weight 600 LBS more(average). I like them both. I own a 01 Z06 w-exh/cai. Weight/Aerodynamics makes a big difference.

  • It's not a z06. Not all hard tops are a z06. Before the z06 came out in '01 there was a hard top model offered in '99 and '00. GM turned the hard top into the z06 in '01

  • I'm not talking about the TOP. I'm talking about the REAR HATCH AREA. This year model z06 doesn't have that long sloping glass like the regular C5 or an F-body does. Go Google it and you'll see what i mean. Now, the C6 z06 does have the traditional glass.

  • You are wrong. This is a '99 FRC. (Fixed roof coupe) The Z06 didn't come out until '01 and it was based off this car. It has the standard suspension and LS-1 instead of the Z06 LS-6. You can tell the difference by the lack of emblems, rear brake ducts, and intake hole screens. They are rare, that's why you don't know about them.
