Roy Jones in his prime had a decent chin. You can't be a world class fighter without having at least that. Still compared to other world class fighters he didn't have a great chin. A great chin doesn't just become weak when you go up and down in weight. In his prime Jones was hit clean every once in a while. Still other fighters have taken numerous harder punches in one fight and stayed on their feet.

What this video mainly shows is that, in his prime, Roy rarely got hit cleanly - and when he did it wasn't by devastating blows. Roy had an average chin, you cannot be a world champion boxer without having at least that. But its almost impossible to say he had a good one because the first time he got caught with a bomb on the chin he was out for the count.

I think Roy's chin in his prime was OK. The main thing it was really hard to hit him clean in his prime. However, he got knocked down once in his prime and he recovered well. I think the huge weight loss and the after effects of steriods exagerated the weakness in his chin...

Roy Jones was simply the best fighter out there, and still makes an enduring impression when you see him fight. His next fight will be on Aug. 15 vs. Jeff "Left Hook" Lacy. I believe Lacy will be owned; I also believe that Roy's ego wont let him stop boxing and that he needs to prove himself one last time. Roy should've worked his way down to Light Heavyweight.

After his historic trip and victory at Heavyweight he should have gone down to Cruiserweight. Then have two or three fights there and weigh-in at 180-190 at that division. Then he would've made 175 no problem. :D

But no he went down 25 pounds!! Because he got careless and selfish!

But Roy was just SO DOMINANT.

That 25 pounds of lost muscle drained RJ of strength and took something out of his ability to absorb a punch. It would have been better if he stayed at HW and finished out his career. Even if he'd gotten ko'd at HW, it wouldld have been just like: "Well..he wasn't a true heavy weight'. I KNEW it was a bad decision going back down to LW, but I didn't realize the level of the disastor it would be. I think you should just edit out 2003-present and just remember him from his last fight with Ruiz.

Great video. Jones, during his prime, was down only one time and rarely shaken or hurt. His chin was fine until he lost 10 lbs of muscle and tried to move down to LHW at age 35... even Byrd got KO'd by a light hitting LHW after taking one hell of a shot at heavyweight.

I believe it was the end of round 8 when Toney caught Roy with a left hook. The ref jumped in to soon. Who knows if it Toney could have gotten in a couple more big shots. Who knows? However, the shot Toney got him with was similar to Tarvers. Maybe not quite as strong, but a strong punch anyway. Roys body fell back, but he caught himself and recovered. I believe it showed the difference of pre-hw jones and post-hw jones. The steroids didn't help either..

Great video. You have a gift. You should pursue it. This showed that RJ had a better chin when he was younger. I think he had an OK chin in his prime. Mainly he was super elusive. When Jones fought Toney, Toney caught him with almost an identical punch as Tarver caught him with. Jones body had the same reaction, but he stayed on his fight and recovered. I think that showed the effects of the weight loss made. Watch Byrd at LW recently and it shows the effects of drastic weight loss.

Tis Vid is the truth..he could take a punch..the reason y he was so hard 2 hit was cuz of his lateral movement accompanied by his opponents being gunshy bcuz of how fast he could lead or counter them..afta the HW match his lateral movement diminshed completely so did his reflexes sumwhat..thats y n his previous fights he lays on the ropes n wasnt pressure the fighters were giving him..his legs left him..so he had 2 deal wit fighting off the ropes..has KO power..but cant pull the trigger anymore.
